We are retired teachers who discovered the fishing opportunity here in Troy in the spring of 2002. We fell in love with the location and the opportunities for adventure. We were teaching in Alaska when we purchased our retirement home. From 2002-2012 we spent our summers working on the property getting it ready for us to move into permanently. In 2012 we retired and came home for good. Couldn't ask for a better place to live!
Patrick and Regina Dunroven purchased this studio in 2002
The peace, quiet, wild life, outdoor adventures and more drew us to Troy.
The Grande Ronde river flows by while you enjoy viewing the abundant wildlife. Eagles, beaver, river otter, blue heron, and more. The nearby Wenaha River offers wonderful trout fishing while the Grande Ronde river offers, steelhead fishing, rafting, and kayaking. There are many hiking trails in the area for you to enjoy. Short hikes or overnight hikes. We are willing to drive you to a trail head if needed. At the end of your hike you will have a comfortable place to relax. Hunting opportunities deer, turkey, bear, and more.
WE had such a wonderful time. Our stay at Dunroven by the River was the best we have ever had while fishing in Troy. The garde was beautiful and the lodging was perfect. Than you for everything and we will be back soon!
Having the owner's live nearby was a plus for this rental. They built us fires daily to come home from hunting to and made the stay very comfortable and enjoyable, while respecting our privacy. We would definitely like to come back when more time can be spent on the river and the surrounding areas.
The property was very relaxing and out of the way. The studio was complete with a kitchen, bath with shower and fireplace. The landscaping was gorgeous. If you love fishing, hunting, riding the rapids, then this is the place for you. Our family of four went on a river ride for about 15 miles and loved it! At this time of the year, the water was perfect for those who like pretty calm waters. Only a 10 minute drive away, we saw a large herd of 100+ elk. Wonderful place!
My fishing friend & I shared this apartment for 3 days in late October and it was great. I had the sofa bed all 3 nights and it was very comfortable. We used the range and microwave to make breakfast and dinner each day. We brought food for meals, the apt. has a refrigerator and cooking utensils. After fishing all day, it was nice to be able to take a hot shower each night. This apartment worked great for us; up early made coffee & breakfast, headed out fished all day, came back at dark got cleaned up and fixed dinner. Patrick & Regina are nice hosts and made us feel welcome at their place.
This was a very relaxing retreat for me. I was able to take leisurly walks, sit on the deck
over looking the river and read, take a drive up into the hills and have a nice picnic lunch
and just overall relax. I had the option to watch TV and connect to my family and friends via internet. The studio was clean and very comfortable. The property on a whole was kept very nicely. The owners were wonderful to talk with. I would recommend this property.
