Why Lisa Vierling chose Ketchum

Croney Cove is the oldest homecamp in the area. Homesteaded in 1890. It has amazing history. Michael and Lisa have travel through out Europe collectioning architecture elements that have added to the luxurious environment of the home. It is a incredible experience to be out in the national forest getting to view the wildlife that is all around the property. To be able to go out your back door and access the surrounding forest. To have a massage on the covered bridge with the river running underneath is truly a magical experience

Awesome getaway in private location on the water!

  • 5 of 5

Can't say enough good things about the property or the people. This place was spectacular - just a few miles outside of Sun Valley in a secluded mountain location, the house is separated from the main access road by a private gated bridge across a beautiful creek. The scenery is tranquil, and the house, a huge 1 bedroom, 2 bath European chalet, is amazing and spacious. Two awesome fireplaces, Black Forest charm, and a fully-stocked refrigerator courtesy of the wonderful property owners.

The two private hot tubs are warm and inviting. You can choose to soak on the edge of the river or next to the original homesite, a restored 1890s log cabin. There is also a European-style sauna with lots of room.

Deer and elk were frequent visitors during our stay, often just a few steps from the master bedroom balcony. For people interesting in fishing, the property is literally right on the edge of a beautiful trout stream and within easy driving distance of several others.

This place is perfect for couples or small groups. The owners are very kind and attentive. What a great experience!

The Best Anniversary

  • 5 of 5

This is one of our very favorite vacations we have ever taken. Lisa and Michael have created a paradise! I don't really want to share how great it was so we can keep this spot all to our selves. We loved the river, hot springs, fishing, massages, chalet and pretty much everything else. This place is a little bit of heaven on earth!

Something you can only dream about

  • 5 of 5

This VRBO was stunning, it was complete with two actual wood burning fireplaces, thermo heated floors and authentic late 1800's antique decor, fully stocked kitchen, two hot spring fed hot tubs and a fabulous sauna.

This accommodation is a true get away 11 or so miles from town up Warm Springs creek near Frenchman hot springs. There is 7 miles of the road that is not paved and manageable for any vehicle, but who is in a hurry.

You have to remember that many of the facilities are actual antiques and not your modern ho- hum appliances suited for the fast and furious. This just adds to the charm of the place.

The water is direct from the natural hot springs and is loaded with curative minerals that have a real feel good quality. One of the minerals is sulfur which tends to smell a little but Lisa the owner has provided bottled water than can be accessed for drinking cooking and brushing your teeth.

My new bride and I found this a perfect honeymoon retreat and would recommend it highly.

Cozy European style cabin with rustic flare!

  • 5 of 5

The first impression of this property begins as you walk across the picturesque covered bridge that crosses over a beautiful mountain stream and leads you to the front door of the Chalet. Lisa had a welcoming fire already going in the fireplace for us and she had stocked the fridge with special items and basics for our stay. The kitchen is small, but has everything you could need and is big enough for two to cook. The bedroom suite is huge and has a sleeper sofa and an additional fireplace upstairs. There is a day bed in the main living area for an additional sleeping option. I really appreciated all of the attention to detail that Lisa has done to make her guests’ stay special; plush bathrobes in the closet, European linens, nice soaps and beautiful decor. The property’s geothermal tubs are great for a soak, perfect temperature and close to the chalet. We really enjoyed soaking and sitting in the amazing sauna! There is also a natural hot spring on the river about a quarter mile down the road. Although not right in town, the road is well traveled and the property is a very special place. There are multiple lodging options besides the Chalet, each meticulously decorated, so it could be an option for slightly larger groups as well that are looking for something more than the norm. The owners were such gracious hosts and their dog Jack was adorable, would love to come back in the summer!

Beautiful property, but be aware of some issues.

  • 4 of 5

This is a magical property, and Lisa is an incredible decorator. We spent five wonderful days here two weeks ago, and really appreciated the stocked refrigerator, lovely decor, hot tubs, and beautiful stream. I agree that is is a singularly beautiful place, and the many buildings on the property have been treated with love by the owners. There are lots of special outdoor spaces around the property. You can walk to a hot spring, mountain bike, hike from the property, or just spend your day moving from sauna to hot tub to river over and over. Lisa provided fishing poles and blow up floaties for our children to use on the river. There is also dish TV with lots of movie channels. I highly recommend this property for the right kind of people, but there are a few things you should know before you rent.

1. Both the hot and cold tap water is sulfurous. Lisa provides drinking water, but you will be showering in sulfurous water, and cooking with sulfurous water. The water is perfectly healthy, it just smells bad. There is a very nice YMCA 10 miles away. We ended up showering there, and using the wifi (see #2)

2. There is no cellular service, and the wifi was slow and unpredictable (it comes through the dish). It went out repeatedly, in one case for an entire day. I believe they are upgrading the wifi.

3. There is no gym. Lisa says she took it down for a wedding before we arrived.

4. There are some mosquitoes and no screens on the windows. This is obviously not a problem in the winter, but given that the house is heated by radiant heat, it stays very warm in the summer, and you will want to have some air circulating in the house. If you aren't bothered by mosquitoes this is not a problem. By the way, it's lovely listening to the sound of the creek at night.

5. There are a lot of pets on the property, including a big, beautiful, and rambunctious puppy named Jack who enjoys jumping up on people, so those will allergies, or with children under 80 pounds, might want to take this into consideration.

6. The house while only a few miles from Ketchum, requires a 6 mile drive on an unpaved road. It's an easy road, but it is unpaved, which could be an issue with rental car contracts.

7. The antique stove needs to be lit by hand.

Again, I want to make clear that we loved this property. It's really special. I don't think we would stay again because some of the above issues were problems for us, but they would not be for everyone.

Owner's Response: For over 20 years without complaint, we have had people come from all over the world to enjoy the natural hot water Sorry you found the slight sulphur smell offensive. Life in the mountains.. There are many areas in our valley without cell service What's app Facebook messenger skype makes it possible to use a cell. With forest fires north and south of us filled the air with smoke for several days that interfered with satellite service one day 4 hours outage due to hughesnet satellite maintenance . You arrived one day after a big wedding was held at our property. We made special arrangements so your family could stay The gym was used to facilitate the caterers. If it was so important for you to use a gym you should have mentioned it to us and we would have had it available to you. The evenings were turning cold so Michael turned the floor heat on for you. When you arrived we told you if there is anything you needed it if there was anything we could do for you to let us know. Screens were up in the bedroom and the other screens in the closet. Yes we have 4 cats and a new 5 month old Pyrenees puppy my husband just brought home A very sweet shy guy who is in love with children. If he was s problem. Then your children should not have played with him. You should have told us your concerns We live in the forest and there are deer,, elk moose foxes birds etc that walk through our property on a regular basis We do live in the forest We do not rent to people with animals due to the allergies In 28 years we have never had a problem with renting cars personally or for clients. The cook stove lights automatically or with match. It is just easier for first time user to use the lighter. My husband Michael and I go to great lengths to make our clients stay wonderful here. We said if you needed anything to let us know we were here the whole time. What a shame for you to write these comments when all you had to do was communicate

An Enchantment

  • 5 of 5

I went to a wedding here this summer. It was one of the most beautiful places I've been. On a wonderful mountain stream (bubbling brook) nestled between mountain within a national park. The cabin we stayed in was comfy, but the most notable thing was that, contrary to most places that are rented, it was filled with beautiful objects that lisa had collected in her travels trough the world. Most of all, Lisa and Michael (your hosts) are great people: smart and funny and helpful. I feel I've become a friend and look forward to seeing them again.
