Space 385 sq. ft.
Property type hotel

Overview

About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, Sleeps 2

This beautifully appointed, European-style flat in a historic building has been impeccably restored into a cozy home away from home.  Its soaring ceilings, tall windows, and hardwood floors make a dramatic first impression for guests.  It features a luxurious king-sized four poster bed with a pillow-top mattress  A small sitting area and efficiency kitchen (with custom counters and cabinets, sink, coffee-maker microwave, mini-fridge) provide the comforts of a modern hotel room, but the antique furnishings and spectacular views offer Old World charm.

Shared bathroom will be cleaned everyday at noon. Towels and robes will be provided for you in the room in a welcome basket. The room will also be equipped with a place to hang the towels.

The flat is tucked into the third floor of the Victorian-era Buhne Building in the heart of Old Town Eureka, just two blocks from the waterfront and boardwalk. The Buhne Building is a mixed-use artisan community, with shops and galleries on the first floor and artist studios and loft spaces on the upper floors.

Guests in the flat have the rare opportunity to stay alongside some of Eureka's finest painters, sculptors, and artisans. The private bath is down the hall from your room and features a beautifully-tiled shower, antique sink and a modern dual-flush toilet.

Old Town Eureka is a Historic district on the Redwood Coast containing buildings from the Victorian era, cobblestone streets, galleries, shops, restaurants, museums, and a waterfront boardwalk.  Old Town Eureka is known as a fine arts mecca. You'll find galleries, museums, artist studios, live music, and theaters within a few blocks.

Any 30 day booking will be charged double the cleaning fee. If it is not automatically added in your booking, we will add the charge for you. We do this because we come in mid-stay and change your linens and do some light cleaning!

Reviewer Comments:

What a delight it was staying in the European Flat in this gorgeous historic building, right in the middle of a trendy but unpretentious downtown. The flat was spacious, clean and inviting. The bed was very comfortable and the view from our windows an added bonus. Having a shared bathroom posed no problems and was always available when needed. I felt like I was staying in Europe...and that's a good thing! We happened to meet the building owner and he made us feel very welcome. He takes pride in this building and his love for it shows. We had no trouble parking right next to the building. Its location is perfect...restaurants are an easy walk away. We would definitely stay here again.

Reviewer Comments:

Wonderful flat, great views, very clean and comfortable; thanks for the coffee and cookies! But the parking is a problem. Our car was vandalized at 2 am, smashed the window in while it was parked right by the front door under the street light ( the car was empty except for a bag of almonds).

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review of European Flat. We're happy to hear you enjoyed the flat, and so sorry about the vandalism to your car window. Unfortunately, we, as a property management company, cannot control all aspects of our guests stay. I will say that it is a first for this building, and we have requested more patrol cars to keep a visible presence during late night hours. We sincerely hope this doesn't prevent you from booking with us in the future, we have 100+ properties for you to choose from at Redwood Coast Vacation Rentals, so we hope to see you next time you visit the North Coast. Thank you again for taking the time to leave a review.

I was pleasantly surprised at just how nice this place is. The room was very well appointed, and the "shared bathroom" was always vacant. The really cool old building is in the heart of Old Town Eureka. Head downstairs for oysters, craft beer, and wine. There's pottery painting and a salon next door. Cross the street and there's restaurants, galleries, and shops.

Reviewer Comments:

My granddaughter and I stayed one night here and it was lovely. From the wooden floors to the lovely architectural touches in the common area, it feels like the 19th century. We did however have to haul our suitcases up the equivalent of three flights of stairs (no elevator) and the wifi was not working in the room. The shared bath was never a problem except having to throw on a robe to walk there -- provided in the room! I was disarmed by the $200 deposit required in addition to the room rental, but realized later it's probably because there is no on-site management. Still, it's a hefty sum to fork out on a reservation. All in all though, it was a lovely experience with my 9-year old granddaughter.

Reviewer Comments:

Our one night stay on Eureka was good. The property and location were great. Instructions to enter property were not correct and detailed and had difficulty reaching our representative. Only perseverance got us inside. Are still awaiting contact from them outside standard messages and surveys. Have sent suggestions that are easy fixes and will alleviate future issues. The property itself is great. Please note it is a trek to the detached bath. Be sure to visit Favid at the art gallery in downtown Eureka. He was a gem.
