Sunset Lodge & Cabins comprise a main lodge with one guest cabin and an owners' cabin. It is located in the historic Sprucewold Colony of Boothbay Harbor. The cabins are built in true Adirondack style, yet fully updated and modernized to make an elegant and comfortable stay for up to 10 people. We have access to a private, sandy beach and dock where you can swim, sunbathe or play with the kids, only a 5 minute walk from the cabins. We are a 15 minute walk to downtown Boothbay Harbor in one direction, or to Barrett Park in the other.
The main cabin has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen, laundry room and sun porch; the guest cabin has a kitchenette (no stove or dishwasher) and one bathroom.
Tomhegan (Tom): This is the main Lodge where previous owners have lived year round. Tom is a stunning example of the Sprucewold style, with vaulted log ceilings, pine paneled walls, Native American carvings, a huge sea-stone fireplace with carved wooden mantle, and many pieces of original Sprucewold furniture. Tom has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, dining room, a fabulous great room with a large, flat screen TV, and a large laundry room/pantry. It is heated (hot water radiators) for cool nights, but also has a gas fire inside the sea stone fireplace. There is a sun porch with daybed and comfortable chairs, plus a large outside deck. Sleeps 6 MAXIMUM INCLUDING CHILDREN/BABIES.
Schoodic (Dick): Dick is the guest cabin where generations of families and friends have gathered for reunions and parties. It has a large great room with vaulted ceilings, a full bar along the back wall, and a huge sea stone fireplace (topped by a moose known as Steve). There is a gas fire for those cool Maine nights. There is a pool table, a reading/TV area (DVDs and videos only), dining table and chairs, and a small kitchenette with sink, microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. Dick has two bedrooms, separated by a bathroom with a shower and an original claw-foot tub. There is a covered porch with original hickory chairs and porch swing. Sleeps 4 MAXIMUM.
Harraseeket (Harry): Harry is the owners' cabin and is not available for rental at this time.
Tom, Dick and Harry are named after the tunnels in the movie “The Great Escape”. Tom and Dick are available to be rented together, sleeping up to 10 people. Or Tom can be rented on its own (5-6 people).
The cabins are far enough apart that those sleeping in Tom will likely not hear friends watching TV in Dick or kids toasting marshmallows outside at the stone fire pit. The cabins are a perfect setting for family gatherings. Caterers are available, with notice, and housekeeping can be arranged.
