Lovely, private patio with table and four chairs, umbrella and lawn. Webber charcoal grill. Parking. This cottage is built on a 1.3 acre ranch-house estate in the Arden Oaks neighborhood of Sacramento. Winner of 2014 Coty Award for houses built in the under $250,000 category, Sacramento region.
We are semi retired, originally from East Coast. Adult daughters and grandchildren are all living in San Francisco. We built the guest house to accommodate their frequent visits with growing families. We are golfers, skiers, tennis players, gardeners and pet owners.
We have lived in the main house for 31 years. New Guest House stands on the site of the original barn and caretaker's cottage, which we tore down in 2013. Lot size is 1.3 acres, leaving a huge lawn in front of the guest house patio. Very private, cozy. Shady, large pet enclosure.
Private outdoor space, fenced in yard for occasional dog tenants. Dogs must be approved by owner. Plenty of parking. Cabin style interior with all new (or antique) furnishings and appliances. Dedicated wifi.
The family were great to host. They were very busy with the event of their daughter's wedding here in Sacramento but we caught glimpses of them coming and going. They were very appreciative, quiet, tidy and left the cottage in perfect shape. We'd welcome them back again any time. Sally and Grove
My husband and I usually stay in a hotel when we visit our daughter in Sacramento. This time we took a chance with VRBO and are so happy we did! This cottage is in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood and the hosts are kind, helpful and added so many great little touches to our stay. There was lots of room and all the amenities anyone would need. We couldn't get over how cute the decor was. Thank you for providing this service. I can't imagine staying anywhere else while in Sac.
Our family (husband, wife, and two young boys) stayed at Grove and Sally's guest cottage for 5 days. We explored Sacramento and the surrounding areas each day. The cottage is located in Arden-Arcade, which is far enough away from the city to feel "home-y" but close enough that we could commute into Sacramento each day quickly. Arden-Arcade is a lovely neighborhood with higher-end homes and felt very safe coming back to each day. The cottage rental fee each day felt reasonable considering its furnishings - higher-end linens, well-equipped, cement floor (so it felt clean!), newer construction. The colors were energizing and inviting. We appreciated that it was mostly kid-friendly - there were kids' books and toys right by the door when we walked in, and the trundle bed was great for our 4-year old to sleep on. Grove and Sally were welcoming and gracious - Sally welcomed us personally after our first night, and they were gracious to understand when our boy accidentally broke a glass bowl. Our only wisdom for a young family staying is to consider where your young ones might sleep. We made it work having our toddler sleep in a pack-n-play (furnished by the cottage) in the bathroom or in the master each night, but if your little one is a light sleeper the size of the cottage might not work for you.
My daughter and I stayed in this lovely cottage while she was looking for an apartment in Sacramento after relocating for a job. This was just perfect for us. The home itself is beautifully decorated, the hostess is warm and inviting, the neighborhood is lovely and very convenient for getting a start in a new city. Highly recommended!
Lovely, comfortable and clean! We would certainly return without hesitation. Loved everything about it.
Our family enjoyed our stay at the Cottage very much! It was a calm, peaceful setting where everyone was able to relax and enjoy themselves. All the essentials were provided, including plentiful linens/towels. Having a washer and dryer available was convenient too. Our Bay Area family joined us for one night and it was the perfect place for them to have a rest stop on the way to Apple Hill the next day. Everyone loved the comfortable bunkhouse decor and the clean, modern finishes. We'll long remember our wonderful stay and the welcoming atmosphere provided by our hosts. Looking forward to our next visit!
