Historic home, in a quiet tree-lined neighborhood, 1 mile from the heart of the action!
Comfortable 4 bedrooms, 2½ bathrooms, located in one of the most upscale areas of the city – just south of the Country Club Plaza, in Brookside - the safest neighborhood in Kansas City.
The home is exceptionally large - 2500 square feet of indoor living space, featuring high ceilings, tall windows, and period fixtures. Enhancing those quarters are two outdoor areas: the front porch for morning coffee, and the back garden for dining alfresco.
The bedrooms are nicely sized and comfortably appointed, the mattresses topped with freshly laundered linens, cleaned just prior to your arrival. The master bedroom has a private bathroom; the other bedrooms share the hall bathroom.
The kitchen is fully equipped and recently renovated to include granite countertops and stainless appliances, and the bathrooms are up-to-date as well.
What you can expect: it is my aim to provide guests a five-star experience. Touches that I appreciate when I travel: cleanliness, quality linens and towels, comfortable mattresses, wireless internet and eclectic decor.
Location: We are minutes to downtown, where you can find the Sprint Center, the Kansas City Symphony, Power and Light, and the Chiefs and Royals Stadiums. And within walking distance to all the shops, restaurants and clubs on the Country Club Plaza.
Please note: I book on a first-come basis, and the furnishings are constantly evolving!
Here's what AB from Oklahoma had to say about her stay: The listing was accurate. This is a beautiful, spacious house with all the qualities that made us feel at home. There is a wide, inviting front porch, perfect for leisurely coffee. Neighborhood is traditional, quiet, charming, and we always felt perfectly safe. Gloria went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and to accommodate our every need. All the basics, of course, plus many extra touches that made us feel Special. We applaud her! Overall, this was a wonderful visit we won't forget - in all the nicest ways. We highly recommend a visit at Gloria's House.
My husband and I prefer quiet homes in residential neighborhoods whenever we travel, and offer our home to like-minded people when we're away.
It is my mission to provide my guests with the same touches that I appreciate with lodging: a home that is in a vibrant, safe neighborhood - yet is close to the action, cleanliness, upscale linens and towels, comfortable bedding, wireless internet and eclectic decor.
My hobbies include: Surrounding myself with beauty, preparing nutritious but delicious meals, collecting old tablecloths, staying vibrantly healthy, keeping spiritually alive, learning about natural medicine, listening to the Grateful Dead and other blues music, traveling, reading, writing, being next to the mountains and the ocean, chatting with family and annoying them with practical jokes, dreaming big dreams and being a great mom.
This was a beautiful old house with a wide front porch on a nostalgic, quiet tree-lined street in KC close to the plaza and other amenities. Matt was very congenial and responsive. We comfortably hosted family in the area for several get-togethers. Beds were very comfortable. The interior had classic broad woodworking features and the house sang it's own song through charmingly creaky floors. Be careful who stays in upstairs bedroom as stairs are very steep and not well lighted. Ask for instructions for the sauna and TVs.
Our two children (and our three grandchildren) who live on the east and west coasts met us in KC for a few days before Christmas. The space was wonderfully accommodating for our needs and fit the bill quite nicely. Yes, the floors squeak a bit but so what?? The kids brought white noise makers so the little ones could sleep without being disturbed. It was also a lovely benefit to be able to bring our pup with us. The kitchen was well appointed, I brought a very large stock pot for soup and also brought a 9 x 13 casserole dish, and that allowed us to make a large breakfast casserole. We enjoy cooking as a family so appreciated all the pots and utensils that were available. We also appreciated the fact that even though the house is decorated there are not alot of items that little hands could pick up and potentially destroy -- i.e., the house is kid friendly. Finally, the house is in a gorgeous neighborhood, conducive for nice walks, and especially beautiful dressed up in christmas finery at this time of year. Thank you again for allowing us to have our "early" Christmas together! SIncerely, The Elliott-Vallandingham-Jedras family (LeClaire, Brooklyn, Seattle!)
We throughly enjoyed our stay.
We had a wonderful time at this historic property. Gloria went out of her way to be helpful and attentive. The home itself was just as pictured and was spotlessly clean, with great beds, an updated, well stocked kitchen, and plenty of room for our family to spread out. The neighborhood was lovely; within walking distance to the Country Club Plaza, Loose Park, and the Nelson Adkins Museum, yet only a 10 minute drive to downtown. Considering our family of five, it was a bargain staying here instead of a hotel. Highly recommend this home and owner!
If you're looking for a location with access to everything great about KC, this is the place. It is a lovely home that has been cared for and gently updated in areas of great use (bathrooms and kitchen). The creaky floors take some getting used to but can add to the charm.
My mother, sister and I rented this home for a week stay with my son and nephew. This home was not remotely family friendly or comfortable at all. The floors are so creaky that my son and I were woken up every time someone got up to use the bathroom. The kitchen had rat poison and mouse traps all over the place, which is unsettling for anyone, but incredibly dangerous for young children. Two of the three bedrooms had no bedside lamps. One bedroom had no bedside tables at all. Plugs were sparse, so dont plan on being able to plug in your phone next to your bed. There are no rugs or soft surfaces anywhere in the house, so the floors were very cold and unwelcoming when getting out of bed. The stairs are narrow and dangerous and very difficult to get suitcases up and down. The third floor bedroom stairs are so steep that children of any age would have trouble coming up or down. There are no railings at the top, which can be a very dangerous situation for kids or anyone remotely unsteady. The garden was unkept and most plants were dead. The railing on the back porch was missing half of the posts, poses a fail hazard. The sidewalks leading to the house are cracked and in disrepair. This home could maybe work for young couples with out kids, or anyone not planning to spend much time around the house. We stayed for one night, and although the owner would not refund our money, we decided to check out, as staying for the rest of the week would have spoiled our trip. Book carefully....
