This 700 s.f. bungalow has loads of architectural charm including the original hexagonal tiles in the bathroom, a good sized patio, and a great new kitchen. Its not large, but well designed with all the amenities for a more than comfortable stay including Breville Espresso Machine, air conditioning in the bedroom (most places in the palisades don't have a/c so be sure to ask), surf boards, bikes, beach chairs, etc.

Accessibility, little to no driving, walk to the beach, walk to the hiking trails at Temescal, entertain, BE AWAY FROM THE TOURIST CROWD in Santa Monica.
I live here when guests aren't staying, so its a fully stocked kitchen !! all spices and condiments in the fridge, etc.are yours to use ;)
This property is in an ideal location within walking distance of most everything you might want to do in this area. However, there was a significant issue - a very unpleasant smell in the bedroom which we narrowed down to the carpet. It seemed that someone's pet had several accidents in the bedroom and it was not adequately cleaned up. We also thought the kitchen was little lacking - no coffee maker, no way to make toast in the morning, but this was a minor issue.
We rented this property for a mother-daughter weekend getaway with the purpose of visiting the LA Grove mall and nearby Santa Monica beaches. I chose this property because of the safe neighborhood and price, as I was travelling with my mother and young daughters. Cheap looking Santa Monica hotels seemed to be the same price online, (3-4 star were twice/three times the price of renting this Bungalow). This was a much cleaner, safer option for us. Beaches and fun Santa Monica pier were only a 5-10 minute drive away. Pacific Palisades is a beautiful community. My mother loved going for her morning run and felt totally safe. Gelson's, the town's grocery store, was right around the block from the Bungalow. What a store! We walked there for an evening treat and stocked up on a few food items for our stay.
The description was accurate. It's a 1920's bungalow, so expect an "older" feeling to the building and appliances. (However the decor is tasteful and modern). The bed was comfortable and we appreciated the "smart" TV for my daughter's favorite Netflix shows. Everything was clean. We needed extra bedding for the couches and CK brought them over first thing the next day (I didn't discover we needed more until we were settling in for bed- I should have checked upon arrival). Communication was excellent. We felt very cozy and safe in a homey environment, which was our primary concern.
My family (2 children) and I arrived at 7:00pm, tired and ready to relax and unwind and were shocked to find the unit in awful conditions. The floors were filthy, dirty kitchen, trash bag out, living room unorganzied, bed undone, unclean bathroom. My younger son started crying and my husband was furious. I quickly called the owner who didnt answer right away but called back shortly after. I explained what I had found and she said shw would call the cleaning lady. She called back after a few minutes to tell me the cleaning lady had gotten the dates wrong and the unit was not ready. She told me to "go get dinner and come back in an hour or so" I explained we had already gotten dinner but she just insisted we go and come back. At this point I was livid- we had driven 6 hours and the house was not ready for us. At a hotel we would have been offered some sort on incentive yet the owner did not offer a thing-just made me take my kids out until 8:30...on time that I had paid for in her home. Simply unacceptable.
The unit itself is very cute but lacking a lot of details. The espresso maker was not usable-the frother had dried up milk all over. The kitchen is very limited on utensils and pans. There are very few blankets and no duvet covers for the sofa beds. The terrace needs some tlc and there are only two chairs at the dining table which is very awkward.
The bikes that she advertises need some love. The shower curtain was moldy. No toiletries were offered other than some odds and ends she has in the medicine cabinet (old nail polish?why?)
The location is great and it is close to great trails and beach. Its quiet and has nice views.
I was very disappointed that the owner did not respond to the formal complaint I made to VRBO about her not having the unit ready. They agreed that it was HER responsibility to have the unit ready-and saying it was the cleaning ladys fault is simply not an excuse. I wanted some sort of refund- or at least the cleaning fee waived but she did not even take the time to contact me and make sure I was happy. All in all I do not recommend staying here...she is just not an accountable host.
My family (of 4) had a wonderful visit to look at a few colleges and enjoy sunny Southern California. This is the perfect location to get around Santa Monica & Malibu. Very clean, nice linens. It has a nice little kitchen with all the basics(plus an espresso machine). My husband & I slept in the cozy bedroom and our twins slept on the sofas in the main room (a nice memory foam topper on each). Parking on the street below was easy to find. We had a blast on the boogie boards at the beach. We tried a couple of the restaurants that Christina revommended( Kay & Dave's- a local Mexican place-very casual and quite yummy! And the little French bistro-Maison Geraude??-also nice and great latte & benedicts). Overall a great place with lots of character all around. Thank you!
We much enjoyed our stay in this cozy, comfortable bungalow in the Palisades. It is quiet, clean, and nicely furnished and decorated. Beds are very comfortable. Location is excellent, conveniently located to the village and shops, beaches, and excellent walking areas. We would stay here again and recommend it to others.
Called last minute to book as a result of a challenge that came up in the closing of my new home. Owner was so nice and quick to reply. Home was cozy and clean. I stayed for 5 days with my two young daughters and it worked great! Nicely decorated and excellent location. I would definitely recommend it for friends who come into town. Great place!
The Palisades in a very Norman Rockwell environment, very family oriented. The ability to walk everywhere and NOT get into a car much while you are here is HUGE
