What makes this House unique
We love the views of the water and the tranquil environment of this property. It is also only a half mile from a boat ramp, where we enjoy the Beaufort River on our whaler.

Perfect for our needs!
Apartment was clean and suited our needs well. The view is fantastic and the location is centrally located for traveling to Port Royal, Beaufort, and surrounding islands.
Repeat customer- perfect for our family!
We rented the main house last year and both the main house and garage apartment this year for one month each summer. It was a great fit for our family of 4 and two well behaved dogs. The neighbors are welcoming, and both porches have the most beautiful view of the intercostal waterway for coffee in the morning, happy hour in the evening, and for working remotely or entertaining family and friends. It's an ideal location for us as it's a fun bike ride over the bridge to the historic town of Beaufort, and is down the street from the the yacht club, restaurants, kayak rentals, and the grocery store, and just a short drive to beach time at Hunting or Fripp Island. Sarah, the host is kind and responsive to any requests or feedback, and we hope to return again next year.
Thank you Vanessa. I’m glad you enjoyed your stay. Will look forward to seeing you next year, Sarah
Covered in pee and dirt, literally!
I will do my best to summarize my extended stay at this VRBO, but will likely run out of space to fully give detail of my experience.
Let me preface by saying my overall experience at this listing was both frustrating and disgusting. I have realistic standards for any property and do not consider myself to be a neat freak or go crazy about cleaning everything, but this rental was flat out gross.
I first inquired on the VRBO app for availability of this listing and put in for a request on the booking. It took a few days for the owner to get back to me and the inquiry actually expired before she came back with an answer. I was informed the booking was not available the first week of my request, despite the VRBO listing showing it available on the calendar. The owner allowed me to stay in their neighboring listing and move to the originally intended property for the remainder of the stay. The first property was not very clean but nothing too crazy. I had to clean the fridge to make it usable and I was unable to use the dryer as there was some foreign/unknown substance coating the interior of the dryer drum. Later the owner informed me this was likely from drying floor mats and it was rubber caked on the inside.
The owner and her husband insisted I had to move into the originally intended rental a day early because they had poorly planned on the next renters coming into the house I was currently staying in. I had to rush and pack my things with little notice and move over there. I never got a good look at the apartment or the condition of it, as they had all the windows and doors open and were actively cleaning inside. It wasn't until the next day when I really noticed how horrible the condition of the apartment was. I noticed a foul smell emanating from the bathroom and quickly narrowed the issue down to the shower curtain. It was once white but had taken on a dark yellow tinge and smelled of mildew. I thought the smell would have been eradicated with the replacement of this item but another smell overtook the apartment. I noticed the edge of the toilet had a dark yellow tinge to the sealant and upon further inspection it was apparent it was soaked in urine or some other foul smelling substance. Later I found the bed had large urine stains on it and the carpet had been peed on in several places. Dirt was caked onto the blinds in the kitchen and a thick deposit of dirt was under the kitchen cabinets.
This listing is gross and a health hazard.
I will go through this list of complaints one by one.The apartment was not available the 1st week of your booking because a tenant, who comes every year & does not book via VRBO, so is not listed on their site.He always leaves the apt in great shape, & had no complaints.
House dryer had a few rubber beads after drying a small rug.Took about 30 seconds to remove.Dryer definitely NOT "rubber caked".
The apt was cleaned & available to use on March 30.If you had said it was more convenient to move over June 1, it would have been fine.Nothing was "poorly planned on the next renters coming", as there would have been no problem cleaning the house-where you were temporarily staying-on the following morning , had you requested that.(My husband had nothing to do or say regarding this).
In the apt, I agree that the shower curtain was stained on the bottom. It had been overlooked, but was replaced immediately.
The toilet did have a floor level water leak which was caulked before you came. You mentioned this was a continuing issue & I offered to get a plumber to check it out, but you declined this option.Renters since your departure have voiced no such complaints.
Your 3 other complaints of "pee" on the bed & floor, caked blinds & thick dirt under kitchen cabinets are, to be honest, not true or greatly exaggerated.I had been in the apt before you arrived & checked it out.I have a professional cleaning team for both the house & apt.Likewise, the tenant before you, a very tidy fellow, has never complained of any of these issues. He slept on that bed for 3 months & did not notice anything, nor did the tenant before him, nor the cleaning team, nor did I when I came on March 30.The most recent tenant with a pet (the only possible cause of so-called "peeing") was in the apartment in October. It was only after I left SC that you notified me of all your concerns, saying that you wanted a new mattress, which I complied with ($1800).There is a very faint stain (dirt, not "pee") on the carpet, barely noticeable, but nonetheless I had a handwoven area rug in that part of the room so there is no visual impact at all, though I noticed when I came by to meet with you that you had stored it away.I made a special trip to SC to meet with you & make sure all was well with the apt & you indicated no issues.
I must say that the level of exaggeration & inaccuracy is surprising. There is a very conscientious team in place for cleaning & maintenance issues.I was polite & as helpful as possible
