About Debbie Newton

My husband and I live in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. We are retired and enjoy traveling to National Parks and throughout Colorado. We love floating the river, fishing, hiking and canoeing. The picture I included is of Chuck and I on the north side of the cabin. The windows you see look out on the San Juan Mountains with a stunning view of Pagosa Peak. We have also enjoyed hiking to Piedra River Falls. It is a beautiful hike near the cabin.

Debbie Newton purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Debbie Newton chose Pagosa Springs

We stayed at Heart Rock Ranch the summer of 2014 and fell in love with it. It felt like home from the minute we walked in. When we learned it was for sale we knew it was the perfect place for our family. We have two grown children who are both married, And now we have the most adorable grandson. This cabin will be the perfect place for us to gather, both now and for years to come. We cannot be there all the time so we want to share our home and the beauty of Colorado with you.

This property has consistently had 5 star reviews. We expect to maintain the high standards that have been set for this beautiful home.

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin has views that cannot be absorbed in a quick glance around. We love having the time to sit on the deck or relax in the hammock and soak in the beauty that surrounds us. There is much to be explored and we look forward to doing that from this convenient and stunning location.

2 Weeks of Bliss!

  • 5 of 5

We decided to leave the sweltering heat of Texas for some solitude, better weather and wonderful scenery. We found just what we were looking for at Heart Rock Ranch. The cabin was some cozy and welcoming and we had everything that we needed. We are a little concerned that the cabin didn’t have air conditioning, but that turned out to be a non-factor. The nights were cold, the cabin stayed cool and we felt like we had died and gone to heaven!

We spent a lot of time watching and feeding the hummingbirds on the front porch that put on a constant show. We hiked many of the area trails with our 2 little dachshunds, which had never done anything like that before, and they absolutely loved it! We had a relaxing day at the hot springs and found several places to eat that I will remember for a very long time. Fantastic!

Debbie was a joy to work with. She left so many great instructions and ideas for us. I have never had an owner that I felt so appreciative of!

We were so fortunate to have spent 2 weeks of our summer there! We will never forget the experience and would love to go back!

Owner's Response: What a pleasure to read of how much you enjoyed your stay. You mentioned many of the things that we enjoy about Heart Rock Ranch ourselves. The hummingbirds are so entertaining, the hiking is beautiful, eating out is a treat but being able to wake up and make coffee and breakfast as we enjoy the cool of the morning is also a delight. We do love those cool nights at 8,000 feet. I am so glad to hear that you were so comfortable. We would love to have you return and get away from the Texas heat or come and enjoy the beauty of fall, winter snow or the spring blooms. We loved having you visit Heart Rock Ranch.

Very Relaxing with Beautiful Scenery

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time! We took our two girls and had plenty to do. The cabin is well stocked and gave us everything we needed including lots of space, comfortable beds, books and games for the girls, wildlife, hummingbirds, and a very relaxing hammock. Nearby is fishing, hiking and of course, the surrounding beautiful scenery. We loved watching the storms (although we missed the hail storm) from the front porch and enjoying the much needed cooler weather. The town is just a 20 minute drive away with plenty of places to eat, shop and enjoy the Hot Springs. We felt very spoiled (including the basket of treats) and will likely be back again!

Owner's Response: I am so glad to hear how much you enjoyed your stay and that the girls enjoyed the books and games as well as the hammock. It is one of my favorite places to relax and read or just look at the mountains. It is also good to hear that you felt spoiled. We desire that for all our guests. You can't beat the cool nights and a comfy bed to prepare you for another day of fun in Pagosa Springs. We would love to have you visit again.

Gorgeous mountain setting

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay. Rustic cabin with all the basics. We enjoyed extras like the hammock, horseshoes and humming bird feeders. Closer to many of the hikes than if we'd stayed in town. Excellent wifi. T-Mobile phone service did not work on my iPhone but was accessible thru my spouse's Samsung.

Amazing solitude and views!

  • 5 of 5

The home was just what we needed. It was quiet and had amazing views. We thoroughly enjoyed playing horseshoes and taking time in the hammock with the mountain views surrounding us. Definitely could not get these views in town.

The homeowners have thought of everything and made sure it was well-stocked. There were even drink holders for the hammock! They gave information for everything and gave us recommendations about trails to take, sites to see, and places to visit in town.
