Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for working with us on the check in time, that was helpful. The

house is wonderful. Our home in Norfolk was built in the 1920s so we feel right at home and you've done a great job with the place. We are looking forward to an enjoyable stay.

Thank you for helping make our stay so enjoyable. The house was perfect for us. We wound up with 5 adults and no children and had a great time. I hope we left everything in a acceptable manner. We look forward to visiting again.

Safe Haven Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Safe Haven. The house is so full of quaint southern charm. Every need we had was gracefully met here from the large amount of space available, to the comfortable beds, well accommodated kitchen, lovely front porch overlooking the Indian River to the proximity to everything Florida we desired. A true hidden Gem! You will find everything you need at Safe Haven and your stay will be one for the memory books...one that you can add onto every chance you get to come back to this beautiful home.

A house with character with a great front porch.

  • 5 of 5

If you like to experience an old world feel and let yourself leave the new age of modern everything this home will sooth your soul. Is everything perfect in the house? No, but its charm, front porch and view make you dismiss any minor quirks you may encounter. Our party spent most of the time on the front porch. The kitchen had more than everything we needed and our guests had a blast. We can't wait to visit again.

Strong Haven Sparkles

  • 5 of 5

If you are wanting to experience historic Florida in Cocoa you, family, and friends will love Strong Haven. We leave today and I am writing this on the wonderful front porch watching a beautiful sunrise over the Indian River. We were visiting for a family party in Historic Cocoa Village which is located less than 1/2mile south. We were busy and our only regret is that we did not have more time to enjoy Strong Haven. The home is spacious and clean; with unique furnishings and fixtures, along with modern conveniences that made our stay comfortable.

Early 1900's Moth Ball Fun House

  • 3 of 5

Loved the location and price of this property. However, when my husband and I arrived at the home around 9pm at night and opened the front door, we debated going to a hotel. We had not even stepped into the front door when an extremely heavy Moth Ball scent slammed us. We looked at each other and closed the door. As we stood on the front porch we pondered our choices. Locating a hotel this late in the evening didn't sound like a good option so we opened the door, stepped in from the porch and found the nearest light switch.

The house was pleasant and clean - overcoming the Moth Ball smell was our biggest concern.

As we wandered the home, we located the main floor bedroom. The first step into the room gave a clear indication that something wasn't right... This was the room my husband and I wanted as it was the ONLY room with an attached bathroom. Clearly this section of the house was built onto the home after the fact. The room had a slight slant and you could clearly see the bed tilting to the right. I imagined my 250lb husband crushing me in the middle of the night and quickly ruled this room out. So we wandered upstairs where there were three more rooms and one more bathroom (the 3rd bathroom is on the main floor but is more of a powder room with a shower area). None of the upstairs were accommodating to my husband and I sharing the bed. One room had bunk beds, the other had two full size beds and the third had a queen bed. We needed a King bed... needless to say, we chose the bedroom with two full size beds and we slept separated. not something we have ever done before (not even when he was in trouble and most men take the couch haha). We called the other couple we were sharing the home with and explained the scenario. They were 10 minutes from the house so we waited for them to arrive before making a decision to find a hotel or stay in the house. The husband has issues with smell in that he CANNOT smell very well. He seemed fine with the Moth Ball smell. The wife agreed that it was tolerable. The third couple we shared this home with wasn't coming until the following day so we gave them the 'slanted' room and we all went to bed. The couple showed up at 5am the next day and the guy was less than impressed and stated that he was extremely sensitive to the smell. We dubbed the house the Moth Ball Fun House and enjoyed the bulk of our time on the wonderful porch overlooking the Indian River. All in All - it was enjoyable, if you like Moth Balls

Owner's Response: I am so sorry for the moth ball smell. We had just put moth balls in the attic at the advise of exterminatiors to get rid of pesky squirrels. The problem has been resolved and air fresheners as well as airing out the house has eliminated the smell. Hope you had an enjoyable trip home.

Charming

  • 4 of 5

Our family (7 adults, 4 children) took a mini family vacation (4 nights) June 8-11. The house was clean, well stocked with everything that you could possibly need or want, and had plenty of room for all of us. We had some very hot and balmy days with little to no breeze but the fans out on the porch were a lifesaver and allowed us to sit outside and enjoy the view of the river in the morning and evening (very relaxing). Everyone commented that they loved how charming the house was and its location on the river.

It was a pleasure to speak with Vivian on several occasions (unfortunately for her this was our first time renting a home through VRBO and I had every question imaginable). She was a wealth of information about the house, the area, as well as how the VRBO system works (and I might add she was very patient and was always happy to help me). The only negative (and she made me aware of this during one of our conversations) is how steep the steps are to the dock. The dock itself is new and absolutely perfect . We did make our way down and back once but weren't comfortable enough to do it again.

I would highly recommend Strong Haven and it was unanimous that we will stay there again!

Beautiful house

  • 5 of 5

First and foremost............WOW! Once we got there, the house was way more than expected. The pictures of the house don't even do it justice. The house was very clean and organized, and well stocked with needed supplies.

The sunrise on the Indian River was absolutely beautiful every morning, whether your sitting on the porch or on the dock. The dock is a perfect place to just sit and relax or to fish from. Several of the guys fished every day and not a day passed without several fish being caught.

We were fortunate enough to see a rocket launch during our stay, and even saw some dolphins on Sunday and Monday evenings. 2 unexpected treats.

Everything that we wanted to do was within a 20 minute drive, so the house is is pretty much right near anything you and your family would want to do. "Beach, shopping, site see, boat/jet ski rental etc"

If anyone has a group of family or friends that's looking for a centrally located place to stay, I HIGHLY recommend this property. Vivian was a pleasure to work/speak with, and we were also able to stay an extra night, and this was asked on our last scheduled day of our stay. So a special thank you to Vivian for that on such short notice.

Once again, this whole experience for everyone was about as good as it could've been, and I would have no problem going back to this property.
