|Property type||chateau / country house|
|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
This comfortable 2 bedroom, 1 bath home is surrounded by gardens, rock walls and paths, and several monumental rock sculptures. The view of the Ortiz mountains from the living room and stone terrace is stunning, and the sunset views from the stone terrace are something to write home about. The living room boasts the largest shephard's fireplace ever, while also providing a wood-burning stove for contemporary warmth and atmosphere. The kitchen is fully furnished for cooking adventures, with dishes, cutlery, pots and pans, linens, pantry items, etc. Artwork, pottery and folkart are located throughout the casa, leading to interesting discoveries at every turn. Hiking opportunities are available just out the back door; but if contemplating the hummingbirds at the lavender is preferred, the gazebo is available for your enjoyment. WiFi is accessible throughout the casa as well as on the terrace and in the gazebo. When necessary, heat is available from a forced-air furnace. Washer and dryer are available for use.
The views from the Casa are amazing!!!
This classic Adobe home on a fairly remote hillside just a few miles out of the center of town was a perfect place to be able to enjoy the city of Santa Fe and all it has to offer while being able to also relax and experience the countryside of northern New Mexico.
The home is very comfortable while also well appointed with beautiful traditional southwestern decor. The grounds are also an amazing experience that invite you to explore all of the unique settings that have been created through ambitious rock work and landscape planning.
Could not have asked for a better property to spend our time in Santa Fe. We will definitely return and would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to experience both nature and the sites of Santa Fe.
Wow!! When driving up to the home you think to yourself... "Awesome!!!!!". Amazing rock gardens and a killer view on the patio. The whole five days were were there everyone kept saying how beautiful the place was. Being pet friendly was also a major plus and this place made my vacation an amazing experience I will always remember. Will be renting again!!
We spent a very pleasant month at Casa de las Piedras in the spring of 2016, while we explored Santa Fe and the surrounding region. We thoroughly enjoyed the views from the living room and terrace, the secluded feel of the place, and the very tasteful collection of art and artifacts that filled practically every surface of every room! Even the stone floors were covered with interesting rugs.
Strolling the very unusual property (we'd love to hear the story behind all the stonework!) was always an experience. There were birds and rabbits aplenty, and even a small group of mule deer paid a visit. The clamber (there's no real path) to the top of the hill behind the house was fun. The dirt road to the house is manageable, but does require some ground clearance, and your car will certainly get dusty.
My wife was working 4 days a week during our stay. Cellphone reception was fine, and the internet service was adequate (some days it seemed to suffer from dropouts, which were frustrating at times). The property manager was very accommodating and responsive to the few questions or issues we raised.
The television has an HDMI input, and so can be used for viewing from a properly equipped laptop. The excellent stereo has a CD changer; there's a collection of mainly classical CDs available. It also has the ability to play music from a USB thumb drive, which was a nice surprise.
Friends visited us over one weekend, and there was plenty of room for dining, snacking, relaxing, and talking.
Our dog is an eastern creampuff, so the rocks and harsh plants and cactii weren't his usual environment. We didn't let him off-leash much, out of concern for his safety (we were mainly concerned about him stepping on a prickly pear), but he's older, so it wasn't a big issue for us.
The house is beautiful, unique and comfortable. The kitchen is perfectly stocked even for an ambitious cook like me (seriously! we made everything from smoked duck to a cheesecake). It feels private and remote, up a winding hilly road, but it a quick drive from the center of Santa Fe, grocery stores and anything else you might need. The perfect spot to unwind. My friend and I spent a whole afternoon chatting by the fire and watching the snow outside the amazing picture window (there is one in the master bedroom too, with another beautiful view). There is access to WiFi and a TV, but you won't need it. Drinking a glass of wine and looking out at the view is all the entertainment you'll need. There is also lots of information on things to do around town and farther afield, Taos, the Turquoise Trail and Bandelier (even in the winter) were well worth the drive, as were the museums in town. A beautifully kept property where you will feel at home right away!
After a busy Christmas, this home was a welcomed retreat. Beautifully decorated with comfy beds, couches and chairs, ample windows with extraordinary views and natural light, good
music, a well stocked and equipped kitchen and yes, a great library, we couldn't ask for more.
We arrived during an epic snowfall for santa fe, but made it up the hill in a two wheel
drive, which we switched to 4WD next day. Michael met us and helped us unload, thankfully as
there was a lot of snow. From thereon it was literally down hill.
Santa Fe is an easy pleasant 20 minute drive. Fina's provided a good breakfast and
meeting site with friends. We thought nearby Harry's Roadhouse was fun but way crowded
and the food not so great. Hikes were limited to plowed roads but nonetheless wonderful,
the mountain air and views invigorating.
We can't wait to get back, hopefully this spring or any season. We've done dozens of
rentals and can't recommend this site enough.
I have visited this wonderful and fantastic retreat more than once, and it is a special place! It is the perfect relaxing getaway - a home away from home! It has everything - it is beautifully and comfortably furnished with amazing artwork, fantastic views, and privacy. My dogs and I have hiked up on the hill near the house and are rewarded with stellar views of Santa Fe. In the summer we can relax on the outdoor patio or in the nearby gazebo. During the colder months, we sit on the comfy couch in the living room with its huge picture windows with a music system, a nice assortment of CDs, and a cute wood burning stove -- cozy and snug - I never want to leave! If you are looking for a special and unique experience in Santa Fe, this is it!
