About Michelle Strong

We are filmmakers, musicians...a creative couple who bought this house as a sister to our beloved goat mountain pass. We love the high desert and find it a wonderful place to rejuvenate and escape the stress of the city.

Michelle Strong purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Michelle Strong chose Inland Empire

Gorgeous remote setting with mature Joshua trees and pine trees. Peace and quiet. Hit the reset button and renew.

What makes this cabin unique

You can get away from it all here---in the winter we enjoy a roaring fire in the wood burning stove, early morning sunrises and nights counting the stars. There is also an abundance of wild life. The Integratron is just down the way as is Gubler Orchids. If you are interested in hosting a retreat this is also a great property in conjunction with sister house Goat Mountain Pass #493293 just 1/4 mile down the same road.

Great house just off the beaten path

  • 5 of 5

My fiance and I rented for a weekend in November to get away before the holidays.

What a wonderful, cozy place!

Near fully stocked kitchen to make whatever meals you like, everything was immaculately clean.

Woke up early each AM and had tea on the quiet back patio watching the gorgeous desert sunrise.

Headed to Joshua Tree for the day (about 20min away) and had dinner at Pappy and Harriet's (also about 20min away).

Spent the chilly nights around the chiminea outside stargazing. They provide all the wood, kindling, and cozy outdoor blankets.

There's also a fireplace inside and space heaters (we didn't end up using them).

The bed is very comfortable, extra warm linens provided.

We had fun listening to many of the random vinyl records provided.

The toiletries provided are AMAZING! Fell in love with nearly every product provided!

The owners responded timely to everything, we didn't have any issues finding the place or using what was provided.

The wireless worked well, which was great since cell service is spotty.

Would highly recommend!

Thanks for a wonderful stay!

very pleasant!

  • 5 of 5

my husband, my sister and I stayed there for one week and my only regret is not having stayed longer. the house is great, it's nicely decorated and yet simple, clean and has everything you might need.

We really appreciated having diner on the patio after a day hiking. The property is on a large lot you can enjoy all the privacy you might desire. The only noise we could hear was coming from the wind or a bunch of coyotes calling afar. You have the sky, the mountain, and the piecefulness.

If you need a retreat and if you love this region, this is the perfect place

An AMAZING getaway!

  • 5 of 5

On the spur of the moment we decided we wanted to get away from the city and the fantastic owner of this great little cabin, Michelle, pulled out all the stops to make it happen. We've stayed previously at Michelle's other desert home which is a few hundred yards along the road so we kind of knew that we were going to be staying at a place that is well furnished and feels like a home rather than a holiday rental. We weren't disappointed! It is wonderfully isolated and the views from the back porch - kitted out with incredibly comfortable outdoor beds - were awesome. Although it easily sleeps four adults, I would recommend it more for just a couple. After all, why share something so cool?! We now know the area pretty well but for those who do not, Michelle is a mine of information as far as what to see and where to go in this incredible part of California. It is not too far from Joshua Tree (if that's your thing) but as far as we are concerned, nothing beats the tranquility and the isolation that this part of the high desert has to offer. We can't wait for our next visit - and sorry for the delay in posting our review!
