About Kirsten Malloy
We moved here from New York City after having our first child. We wanted a place in the country that would be nurturing and healing for our growing family. It's definitely done that for us and we are delighted to share our home with others while we seek new adventures!
Kirsten Malloy purchased this Chalet in 2005
Why Kirsten Malloy chose South Kortright
The knotty pine cathedral ceilings make this home feel so spacious and roomy. The energy here feels inviting, warm, friendly so peaceful! After experiencing the inside of the house we ventured outside to the lake and could hardly believe we could actually own a little piece of heaven like this. Swimming in the lake each morning invigorates and refreshes each and every one of our spirits daily!
What makes this Chalet unique
Having a lake in the back yard is such a blessing. The added amenities like the 15ft trampoline, tree house, swing set, sand boxes, slides and swings and boats truly make this property a children's paradise! Also the endless trails through the woods and the road that encircles the lake is so ideal for taking a leisurely stroll or bike ride.

Such a warm and beautiful place to call home.
Kirsten and her husband were so welcoming and kind as we arrived. We had everything explained and the house was super ready for us. We can't wait to be back!
Amazing cosy cabin with beautiful lake
Had a wonderful time at the cabin, loved the uniqueness of everything in the house. Beautiful lake to wake up and had fun canoeing and swimming.. kirsten and her husband were so lovely to show us round before our stay couldnt have asked for a better weekend. Thank u so much
Great get away from the city
We had a great time with our group of friends. There is everything you need and once you’re there you don’t need to go anywhere, the house is very nice and comfy, and the lake is perfect for all day outdoor activities and games.
The property was beautiful
Kirsten was very attentive to our inquiries . The home was large enough to accommodate my family of 4 - we didn’t use the loft bedroom or the sofa beds. Cell service was nonexistent (not at all the fault of the homeowner). WiFi was adequate
Great Experience and Awesome house
The photos and description do not give this cottage justice it's so much better in person. It was a wonderful getaway for our family. The property was way exceeded our expectation. The kids had a blast with the trampoline, the tree house, the playground, hammocks and swings in the backyard. We also really enjoyed the boats and the kayaks. The lake is so peaceful, clean and relaxing. If you're looking for a perfect spot to relax and enjoy some quality time with your family in a cozy cottage on a beautiful lake then look no further. Thank you for an amazing stay! We'd definitely stay here again.
Quaint, rustic chalet on a beautiful piece of lakeside property!!!
The Kiirma Cottage is a fantastic "get away from it all" destination for individuals, couples, groups, and even families. We booked the cottage as a "one last trip before the end of summer" getaway army in-laws tagged along. Sacha and Kirsten were present when we arrived and took us on a tour of the grounds. They are gracious hosts who encouraged us to use virtually anything we wanted. With two young boys who LOVE to fish, love to kayak, love to play... the Kiirma Cottage is perfect. The boys could (and did) wake up, walk out the door, and take 50 steps to the water where they'd either splash around, enjoy the slide, or take a kayak out and cast their lines. My wife and I would even do the same. When they didn't feel like playing in the water, they'd swing on the swings and bounce on the trampoline. Lakeside bonfires at night meant we could go several DAYS without using their iPads... which was a HUGE plus for us. :-)
We had one rainy day which we spent making a short, scenic 40 min trip to nearby Howe Caverns. By the time we got home, the rain stopped and it was off to fishing once again.
THe nearby town of Hobart was quaint and home to a few great bookstores. There is also a great rail trail for biking, walking, running, etc.. Restaurant choices were limited but the two stops we made were both fantastic: The Coffee Pot served up a great breakfast while The Bull and Garland served up a dinner that all the adults in our party raved about. Grocery shopping was just 10 mins away in Stamford which offered one or two more restaurant choices as well as a bowling alley.
Overall, the cottage, while slightly rustic, was exactly what we needed... a great place to crash after enjoying all the property and the surrounding area afforded. Will definitely return!!!
Cross-country ski, ice skate, snow shoe, bike, hike, walk, swim, fish, canoe on your own private 25 acre lake - all in your back yard!
