Villa El Sueno is positioned on a tranquil hillside, nestled in lush tropical jungle full of beautiful plants and birds, with a panoramic sea view to the west. Remodeled to a high standard, each one-bedroom suite features sliding-doors opening on to a wrap-around wooden deck with sea and/or jungle views, with a hammock and luxurious traditional wooden Peressosa chairs to relax in and enjoy the view. At the end of a day of exploration, you can watch the sunset over the ocean, listen to the sounds of the jungle and enjoy a reinvigorating waterfall shower, one of the many stylish Italian features the suites offer, such as chic heavy drapes surrounding the wrap-around porches should you desire shade or privacy. Each suite is furnished with one queen-size double bed and one single bed, large-blade fans cool the rooms along with the gentle breezes through the wooden-shuttered windows, and each suite is equipped with a kitchenette with microwave, refrigerator and coffee-maker, whilst the pristine bathrooms feature angular tiled waterfall showers and bidets, with garden views through the shuttered windows.
Villa El Sueno ('House of Dreams' in Spanish), is located just a couple of minutes walk along the main road from the vibrant West End village, so guests can enjoy the close proximity of local bars, shops, beaches, restaurants and dive operators, whilst residing in peaceful and stylish hillside accommodations.
The guesthouse is the perfect base from which to explore the many attractions the island has to offer, all tour operators depart from nearby, plentiful taxis serve the area and the guesthouse's concierge can help you arrange any excursions and make local recommendations both prior to, and during your stay.
Villa El Sueno welcomes your inquiries, our concierge can provide any further information required prior to booking or arrival. We await your visit to this fabulous dream home on the idyllic island of Roatan, we hope we can help make your stay a memorable one.
I used to live in West End back in it's more rustic days, before the road was paved and before cell phone towers hit the island (2001). When I go back for vacation I look for a place that is close to West End (walking distance preferably) and has the rustic wooden build charm that characterizes the Roatan style (wood siding, exposed rafters, wood window shutters). This place carries the nice Roatan charm, but in a cleaner and more detailed way than you may otherwise find. We had an ocean view from our nice sized terrace, overlooking Gibson Bight. Two wooden Adirondack chairs and a Guatemalan Hammock. The shower was great, the ceiling fans helped during the warmer days, and the surrounding garden is very pretty. There is a small kitchenette that could be improved by having stovetop burners and a toaster oven (we were provided with a single plug in burner upon request since we travel with our Italian Moka coffee pot--- thanks for that!). Outside there is a small BBQ pit which we were allowed to use, and we did one night. If you stay here you will find that the hosts are very warm and accomodating, a real pleasure to be around and help with suggestions to make your stay easier. They were even nice enough to let us bring our 25lb dog with us, as he travels with us everywhere. This made our trip even more enjoyable. We had an outstanding vacation and were nearly depressed at the thought of leaving. When we come back to Roatan we will happily return to Villa el Sueño.
My husband and I were looking for a quiet and relaxed place to stay on Roatan. We absolutely loved staying at Villa El Sueno because it was quiet and tucked away from West End. The major resorts and hotels on the island are often crowded and noisy, and we wanted a break from the hustle and bustle on the island.
The suite has a wonderful porch with ocean views and a hammock... we enjoyed most of our mornings drinking coffee and eating cemitas in the hammock before making our way to Half Moon Bay.
Our favorite parts of the guest house were the vaulted ceilings, the infinity shower head, and the bidet. It was great to come back to such a nice shower after a day at the beach.
Alessandro and Cloe are extremely welcoming. They were incredibly helpful with booking taxis and with other travel necessities. Alessandro even made us a pot of mocha one afternoon while we relaxed before dinner!
The guest house is an easy 10 minute walk to West End and Half Moon Bay beach. The walk gives you a chance to see the community and explore other areas outside of West End.
I highly recommend staying at Villa El Sueno if you visit Roatan. It is a budget friendly and quaint option if you are not interested in staying in a major resort or hotel and want a break from the ordinary.
I stayed at Vila El Sueno just after it opened, in August 2014. I have been coming to Roatan for about 8 years and this is hands-down the best place I have ever stayed! Before I have stayed in high-end rentals as well as cheap hotels, the full range, and when I return to Roatan I will definitely not be looking for any alternatives again, I would stay at Villa El Sueno every time if it is available! Other places I have stayed have been very nice, but lacking character and I could have been anywhere, they were also expensive if high-end, and if cheap they had more character but were VERY noisy, I have probably stayed in 10-15 different apartments and hotels in Roatan. What I liked about this place the most was its location, the cleanliness and the peace and safety, along with the beauty of the jungle. The guesthouse is really close to West End, I could walk to the bars, restaurants and AMAZING snorkelling beach Half Moon Bay within a few minutes, but the house is away from all the noise and action of West End and is really tranquil so no trucks, roosters etc to wake you up in the night or early morning! Also if I needed a taxi I could just walk to the end of the driveway/road and get one right away. I was a single woman alone and felt totally safe. The manager, Alex, lived on site, an Italian guy and was super friendly and really helpful about local recommendations etc. He was always around so I felt safe, and his two cute guard dogs gave me the cutest welcome every morning :) The guesthouse is brand new so everything was in pristine condition, the bathroom, linens etc were spotless and this is RARE in Roatan, believe me!! Also...don't think I have ever had the joy of an Italian waterfall shower in Roatan!!! The wrap-around porches outside the rooms are great, you can see the sea, the jungle, listen to the birds, relax in the hammock and read, and they are totally private. I have already recommended this place to two of my friends planning visits, if you are looking for somewhere clean, safe, good value for money, in the perfect location, this is it! Thanks Alex and all the Villa El Sueno team for an amazing vacation and see you all next time! :)
