Overview

About the property

Sleeps 4. 1 Bedroom. 1 Bathroom.

Nestled in the Ozarks (near West Fork), this unique, 'modern' cabin is only 18 miles south/or 20 minutes from Fayetteville's city limits and 4 miles from Devil's Den State Park (terrific hiking trails, swimming, etc). This is an ideal place not only to enjoy the fun of Fayetteville (Razorback games, Dickson Street, wonderful restaurants and festivals) but also to visit sites in surrounding areas, such as the Victorian village of Eureka Springs, Lake Fort Smith Park for boating and kayaking, Crystal Bridges Museum, etc. Razorback fans are only a 20 minute drive from the stadium, plus other Northwest Arkansas festivals throughout the year are close by, such as Bikes Blues and Barbeque, NWA Craft Fair, and the Fayetteville Roots Festival. Not only can you enjoy city life but also enjoy the solitude and beauty of a relaxing getaway with terrific views and fresh air! The best of both worlds are available here. As one guest stated, 'Wow! Living here is like always being on vacation.'

This cozy cabin contains numerous amenities --- custom kitchen with dishwasher, stove, microwave, refrigerator, dinnerware, stemware, basic utensils (plus additional ones---bowls, cookie sheet, cutting board, kitchen towels, spatulas, coffee pot/with coffee provided, crock pot, blender, mixer, wine opener, and many other full kitchen essentials etc.) An antique pub table, which extends, and chairs add a nostalgic touch and the table is large enough for comfortable seating.

A large living area, which comfortably sleeps 4, contains the following: a queen-size bed, 2 nightstands, a leather queen-size sofa/ hide-a-bed, lamps, and a recliner. We also have a folding single bed tucked away, if desired. Other amenities provided are as follows:

a/c, heating, a flat-screen TV with cable, a DVD player, and WiFi, an iron and ironing board. Numerous brochures and information about local sites and events of interest are tucked in a basket on the kitchen counter. Otherwise, you'd never realize all the wonderful things offered in the area!

The updated bathroom has a custom granite sink with full tub/shower and numerous essentials: towels, toilet paper, shampoo, body wash/soap, hair dryer, clothes hamper, closet, etc.).

A washer and dryer are also available on the premises.

The grounds surrounding the cabin are as beautiful and user-friendly as the cabin interior. The cabin also affords both front and back porches with chairs, etc. so our guests can relax and enjoy the wonderful views. In the back yard, a table, chairs, glider seat, barbeque pit and fire pit are at your disposal. (Firewood is provided by us.) ** Guests will need to provide all other items, such as charcoal, lighter fluid, etc.

Also, both an open and covered parking space/s are available for vehicles or motorcycles.

Guest safety is important to us; therefore, the cabin contains a smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, fire extinguisher, First Aid Kit, and Safety Card with emergency information.

Since we are kid-friendly, we've included some card games, chess, and others activities for your pleasure.

(A minimum stay of 2 nights is required in order to rent.)

(**If you wish to book for 7 nights, then a reduced fee is charged for 7 nights of $870, which is a night for free. If additional nights are desired, please contact the owners, Anne and Bill.)

The cabin is on property of over 100 acres which is also where we have our residence. But rest assured that our home is located at a distance far enough from the cabin to ensure complete privacy for our guests.

(Minimal contact with host unless requested.)

We're a fun, retired couple and available for suggestions/recommendations about the Northwest Arkansas area as needed but realize that most people want privacy in such a serene, beautiful setting.

**SMOKING POLICY:

Smoking is not allowed inside cabin facilities. Outside is perfectly fine and ashtrays are provided on back porch.

**PET POLICY below:

A $40 non-refundable fee per dog (per stay) with a 2 dog limit

*Payment due directly to us upon your arrival at the cabin. Cash or check only as we have no way to accept credit/debit card.

*Please notify owner at time of booking if you are planning on bringing a dog. Normally, a well-behaved and house trained dog is allowed; however, a maximum of 2 dogs are allowed because of the space, both size and decor of the cabin. Dogs Only!

Thanks....

**Check- In Time -- 3 pm and later

Check-Out Time -- 12 noon

(Check with us if other arrangements need to be made as these times are often flexible.)

The above descriptors offer an overview to the numerous amenities available at our lovely cabin. However, none of the information provided can describe the serenity and beauty which this area offers, along with the added caveat of being close enough to city hustle and bustle.

(Also, special thanks to the photographer, Chris Gomel from Texas who was a former guest.)

About Anne and Bill Ratcliff

Bill and Anne are retired professionals who are originally from Louisiana. In fact we were childhood sweethearts who reconnected about 13 years ago and have lived in Northwest Arkansas ever since. We decided to trade in the hurried city life for a saner, more relaxed life-style and actually 'live our dream.' We've never looked back since making the move and have never regretted that decision.

Anne and Bill Ratcliff purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Anne and Bill Ratcliff chose Arkansas

This property is beautiful with breath-taking views which change with the four seasons. There's always something new to see and experience and ''getting back to nature' was one of our main goals. Both of us worked in high-pressure, stressful jobs and needed to lower our blood pressure in a healthy manner. Being around the numerous animals - birds, deer, butterflies, etc.- has been delightful; planting our own organic garden has also been one of our goals and we're making headway in that area. This property 'speaks to our souls' and has been one of the most rewarding choices we have made. (In some ways, kind of like the older tv show 'Green Acres')

What makes this cabin unique

Too numerous to list but here goes:

*Rest and Relaxation with beautiful scenery and fresh mountain air

* in the country but easy access to the many fun activities in Fayetteville and all of northwest AR

* close to University of Arkansas

* down the road from Devil's Den State Park---wonderful hiking trails

* near world-class Crystal Bridges Museum and Amazeum for Kids

* beautiful sunrises and sunsets

* can view starry sky without light pollution

*sounds of frogs, crickets, owls, and other critters at night

*fire flies

*space to roam

*solitude

*near Eureka Springs

etc., etc., etc.

Enjoyed our stay

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed 3 nights at Anne and Bill's cabin. They were welcoming hosts and the cabin was clean and well supplied. We laughed that we had never stayed at a cabin with a stocked "junk" drawer complete with duct tape and bungee cords. There were also plenty of kitchen and bath supplies and a few games and books. We had misread the description and were expecting a bedroom in addition to a living room with a bed, but the living area was large with a pull out couch and we made it work with 4 people. The view was great and there was room on the property to walk our dog - the outdoor kennel appeared to be under construction but it may be available other times. The weather wasn't always cooperative but the cabin included Dish t.v. with lots of channels so we were able to watch some NCAA tournament games while it was raining. It was close to Devil's Den and we did some great hikes. It was probably about 15 or 20 minutes from the interstate to the cabin but the drive afforded great views at least while the leaves were off the trees.

Great time away.

  • 5 of 5

My wife, two sons, golden retriever and I had a great time in the Ozarks. Cabin was perfect, and we loved the property and views. Thanks to Bill and Anne for their hospitality. Hopefully we'll be back in the future.

Spring Breaking in the the Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

Made a long weekend trip to this cottage during spring break for our kids still in high school and to visit the oldest at UofA! Wonderful time here with excellent hosts. The surroundings are beautiful as well. Best of both worlds for us, away from the hustle and bustle of the city but still close enough to visit our oldest at college. Would highly recommend a visit here! Thanks for allowing us the opportunity to visit!

Amazing Views from an Amazing Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Bill and Anne were so accommodating and sweet. Their cabin is so warm and cozy with simply breathtaking views. I sat on the back porch bird watching, explored the landscape with the dogs and kicked back by the fire pit that evening. We had an amazing time and I'm sure you will too! Can't wait to go back! Thank you Bill and Anne for such a lovely getaway!

Perfect Cozy Ozark Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was perfect! The description of the cabin is spot-on, but what you don't get from the description is a sense of the breathtaking scenery and views the cabin's grounds provides. We didn't get to personally meet Anne this trip (though we emailed back and forth beforehand and afterwards), but Bill greeted us even though we got in late on a Friday evening and gave us a quick and helpful orientation. The following morning, he treated me to a tour of the property in his ATV. Because he was willing to do that, he gave us a sense of the grounds so that we could take advantage of the acres and acres of picturesque Ozark mountains. We definitely plan to come back. Don't hesitate to book! You'll be glad you did!
