About this property

Spectacular Views Overlooking the Pacific.

This secluded villa on a hilltop overlooking the Pacific is surrounded by thousands of acres of virgin forest and is perfect for three couples or a large family. The main house has two master suites w/ large bathrooms, one up & one down. & a twin bed in the TV room with full bath.. The living area opens to a “Lake Como” style veranda that looks down on a beautiful cove and also has spectacular mountain views….as does the open air covered dining area. The large pool is set between the casita and the main house. The casita has the identical views and is complete with kitchenette & sitting area & full bath. If you are looking for a real getaway that is totally private with fantastic views, you will not find anything better. There is a private entry (not public) at the entrance to the project and a 4 kilometer scenic drive to the house. We are located half way between Nosara & Samara and only 3 kilometers from the small fishing village of Garza. The private beach inside the project is just a 1 kilometer walk down the hill from our house on the main road or you can drive down & park near the beach. If you like horse back riding, surfing, canopy rides, or playing bridge it’s just a 25 minute drive to Nosara. We have a beautiful new tennis court in the subdivision where children & adults can take lessons. There are several small quaint restaurants in Garza, but numerous in the near by towns of Nosara and Samara. Get away from the tourist scene and have a secluded and romantic setting only minutes from restaurants and fun activities. Our pricing includes both the main house and the casita. We have a project manager/gardener during the week and upon request will stay at night when you are going out for dinner. The maid comes twice weekly. Be sure and read the reviews. Sept & Oct are the heavy rainy months.. Your inquiries come to our cell phone so we should be able to return your call within hours.

Incredible
This was our second time staying in the Nicoya Peninsula and it was just about perfect. Good location for accessing Nosara and Samara, both of which we enjoyed and offered more than the Montezuma area. More incredible beaches within a 30 minute drive than you would ever need. The house itself is a destination, the pictures don't even do it justice. As others have said, you need to be prepared to deal with bugs/heat, which may not be for everyone. The bugs were completely fine in my opinion. The only downside to the house is the heat/sun. When there is no wind, it is very hot on the property, and it is next to impossible to sleep past sunrise due to sun coming in with inadequate curtains. But to say it was worth it would be a total understatement. You just need to go in the pool or head to the ocean, no big deal. Many mention the road leading to the property. Yes, the road is different from what you may be used to in your home country but it is not even worth mentioning as it's a non-issue, provided you have a 4x4 which I believe is needed for this region in general. I don't understand why people have made a point to mention it. We loved it here and plan to come back. Absolutely magical with many animal sightings.

Magical stay, beautiful location, rough around the edges
The house is quite lovely, with local charm and character. The pool is wonderful, and the local house manager Tito is extremely helpful and prompt with his communication (albeit in Spanish only, which we did with a Translate app and What's App). The hosts were also very communicative and helpful! The location definitely requires 4W drive, but we quickly got used to it (as long as there is one driver who's okay with bumpy winding roads, it's fine). The nearby towns are a mix of local flavour and tourist trap, but very little of it feels "resorty". There are a couple of inaccuracies in the listing. As has been mentioned in other reviews, the property is not 4 bedrooms. At best, it's 3.5, with an open living room with daybed acting as the fourth room. We made this work for us, but ideally it would have been four rooms. Also, the nearby volcanic beach--which is beautiful--is about a 10-minute drive all told, not a 5-minute walk. The other beaches are a longer drive than listed as well. While we love the house, it's got some cracks and some minor disrepair. Nothing major, we all loved the place and it's very charming, and it's far preferable to a pristine resort-like house. We really loved that the house is isolated, at the peak of a mountain. There seem to be only a couple of other houses on the complex. We saw howler monkeys and coatimundi galore. It was delightful to be surrounded by so much jungle foliage. All in all, we loved our stay! Thanks to the staff and hosts!

Fabulous place to stay.
The house is fabulous , well equipped with a view to die for. However be aware the view does come with a bit of a price. The road up is steep and rutted and you do need 4 wheel drive ,however you get used to it. One feature that was not mentioned in any of the property descriptions was that there is a private tennis court 5 minutes away from the house on the access road. Apparently this was built by all the properties in the area for their use. We had tennis players in our group who, for the first two weeks of our stay drove to Nosara to play, until we discovered that it was available for our use. The court is a clay court with shale dust topping . It is fully equipped with maintenance equipment and a beautiful pavilion with toilet facilities. We also discovered that a short walk downhill takes you to a small palm tree lined beach where you can watch the beautiful sunsets. There is also a beautifully constructed shelter here with picnic tables. Tito and Ana are the two staff on hand most days and although they only speak Spanish it was not a problem to communicate and they were exceptionally helpful and could not do enough for us. If you like privacy , tranquility and adventure this is the place to be in beautiful Costa Rica.

Amazing Villa on the Coast
If you're looking to step outside of the box and truly enjoy an authentic, yet luxurious experience, on the coast of Costa Rica, look no further. The house is more like an estate, perched on the top of a remote and coastal hillside. The pictures are accurate, but don't really do it justice. While it is a mature home, with a little roughness around the edges of its original beautiful finishes, it is still very well maintained by loyal and friendly staff and still feels like you are staying at a multi-million dollar property straight out of an HGTV travel show. All of the advice from other reviews is accurate. It is remote, yet beautiful. You do need to be comfortable dealing with bugs and wildlife - you're not at a resort, you're in the jungle. You will see monkeys and birds and coatimundi. You'll also likely see tarantulas and scorpions and tons of ants - we did. It is part of the adventure! You'll also be blessed to see AMAZING sunrises and sunsets - all right from the property, and you'll lounge in a beautiful infinity edge pool while endlessly staring at one of the most amazing vistas you'll ever see. It was intoxicating daily. You do need a four-wheel drive SUV to comfortably navigate the property itself, as well as the surrounding roads and terrain. You will love it if this is what you are looking for. Our group of four adults absolutely loved our time here and would recommend it wholeheartedly. Would come to stay again in a heartbeat!

About the host

Hosted by Joy and Bob Savage, Linda Wall

Host profile image
Jim & Linda Wall share ownership with Bob & Joy Savage. We were all in the mortgage and real estate industry in Houston, Texas. Jim, being an architect and builder, created this beautiful designed and livable house that affords fantastic views for all areas.

Why they chose this property

Jim & Linda actually saw this the area on horseback ten years before it came up for sell. We fell in love with the fantastic view of the ocean and the cove. The project is so unusual because of the large lots (2+ acres) and the underground utilities, both very unusual for this area. It is just so private and secluded with a white sand beach inside the project that has no public access.

What makes this property unique

Jim designed the house to capture the spectacular views and prevailing breezes from the ocean so no need for air-conditioning. We enjoy the privacy of our location and the beach that has no public access. We have monkeys in the trees on occasion and frogs croaking at night in the rainy season. There are beautiful sunsets and sunrises. We know we have the best of Costa Rica. It is really paradise. It's truly amazing to rent our house and to be able to enjoy the experience of living here.
