Ares' House is a 120 sq.m home with tiled floors and a large open-concept living area with a vaulted ceiling. It has three comfortable bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a fully-equiped kitchen, laundry facilities, air-conditioning and central heating in every room.
The house is equipped for entertaining large parties, spending time on the beach (beach towels, umbrellas and beach chairs are available) and entertaining young kids (toys, large yard, and neighbouring kids--all available for playing).
You can buy fresh local produce and fish in the weekly farmer's market (every Friday), cook them in the BBQ and enjoy them either on the large porch or under the tree in the yard. Ares' House is ideal if you want to exprience greek life off the beaten path--in a picturesque neighbourhood where houses are separated only by a narrow lane, neighbours will stop by, and kids may ask to play with your kids.
Zevgolatio is an agricultural town with approx. 5,000 people, tavernas, coffeeshops, and a open-air farmer's market every week--all within a short walk of Ares' House. The beach is an approximate 7'-drive away. If you get tired of enjoying the beach you can take day-trips to exciting places such as The Delphi, the ancient theatre of Epidauros, the Acrokorinthos in the town of ancient Korinth, Picturesque town of Nafplio, the islands of Poros, Spetses, and Hydra, the mountains of Feneos, and of course, Athens.
Anastasia and her family enjoy travelling and meeting new cultures and people, more than anything else. Currently they live in Canada and travel every summer to Greece as well as to other countries.
Anastasia Barbopoulos purchased this house in 2005
Anastasia grew up in the neighbourhood of Ares' House. After leaving Greece to study abroad Anastasia always remembered with fondness life in the picturesque neighbourhood. As an adult, she and her husband rebuilt the family home and made it comfortable for her own family as well as for guests. Ares house has been rebuilt with much love and care.
The most attractive features of this home include:
-large yard where children can play safely while adults enjoy their coffee or a drink
-located in a traditional neighbourhood where you can really live like a Greek
-furnished with traditional objects and furniture inherited from Anastasia's family
-Outdoor furniture as well as beach towels, umbrellas, and chairs
-Children's toys as well as swing in the yard for the young and the young at heart
-Easy access from the Athens International Airport-only a 1.5 hour train-ride
-Ideal location for day trips to archaeological sites and scenic areas
It's a very nice house as pictures show. The downside is it is on a very narrow lane that was very loud at times. The first night there was quite a bit of motorcycle noise up and down the lane, but it did quiet down by 10. You park in the neighbor's driveway and walk through their yard to get to the house, it made it feel a bit less private. The surrounding area is nice and it was very easy to get to neighboring sites. The manager was very helpful and brought us fresh oranges when we arrived.
