There are many stately homes and gardens within a short drive,Manderston and Paxton House and gardens are open to the public. a visit to the area should include a trip to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne which is access via a tidal causeway. The racing driver Jim Clark originated in the area and there is an excellent dislpay of trophies in Duns , 8 miles away. Stroll along the sandy beaches of Coldingham and Spittal or watch the birds at St Abbs head. As there is a Marine conservation area near Coldingham there is plenty of diving and equipment hire.

Cycling is now very popular in the Scottish Borders and there are plenty of cycle routes such as The Sandstone Way .The roads are quiet and relatively car free.

A trip to Edinburgh is easy and travelling by train from berwick is recommended. There is a frequent service and the journey to Waverley station in Edinburgh is only 45 minutes away.

For the golfer there are numerous courses of varying standards. East Lothian can be reached in 35 minutes giving access to Championship courses such as Gullane, Muirfield, Dunbar, and North Berwick. Good links and parkland courses are within ten miles

Many people also visit the Borders in order to research their ancestry or to find out about the Border Reivers and the |Border Clans.

Please ask if you want information on any aspect of our varied area.
