About Sue Cropper

Having traveled extensively ourselves, we've enjoyed (and in some cases not enjoyed!) a wide variety of accommodations. Quality construction and amenities, cleanliness, peace and quiet, the great outdoors and a comfortable feeling of home are what we look for in our travels and we really enjoy offering just that to our guests. Having stayed at some of the finest hotels and B&B's, we know what it takes to make guests feel comfortable, welcome and at ease.

Sue Cropper purchased this apartment in 2007

Why Sue Cropper chose Black Mountain

True quality and location. At 3500' in the Blue Ridge Mountains, in a private gated community, with the 22,000 acres of fully protected watershed forest as our neighbor - one can't find a much nicer place to have it all - and be away from it all at the same time - and still be only 10 minutes from town! 'Why this property?' - because it's one of the nicest places on earth!

What makes this apartment unique

We fell in love with our land the moment we saw it! It is very rare to find land at 3500' on a mountainside that allows for one level living and a large, moderately sloped/flat driveway - serviced by Asheville's spectacular quality water. We did all the design work on the home prior to construction. From the initial site work through the design and construction of the home, we applied many years of experience to every detail. Very few rental units have solid oak doors and trim... 11 foot ceilings... their own private entrance... private parking... private patio... washer and dryer... full kitchen, etc. etc. This apartment was designed to give the comfort and service of a fully decked out condominium (it's actually much larger - and way nicer - than most one bedroom condos!)

Guestbook comments from the owner

The apartment is gorgeous. (and huge!) It's more like a luxury, private condominium than an apartment! We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning. It was great to be within ten minutes of Black Mountain and have the apartment to 'get back to nature.' Four thumbs up from us - thank you!

Jim & Sue were welcoming & very helpful. Their property is lovely & the surrounding area is beautiful. This was a good location for us as we were concentrating our hiking along the BRP north of Asheville-- plus there were all of the wonderful places to see & eat in the area. I only wish there had been designated task lighting so we could read our trail maps a little easier in the evening. We would definitely come back to this lovely location.

Peaceful, comfortable & clean!

  • 5 of 5

If you want to get away from the daily grind, this is the place. High on the mountain, Jim & Sue provide you with everything for a comfortable stay. Their house is very well built making it so quiet that we never even knew if they were home or away! We saw a mother black bear and her two cubs twice during our stay....so cute!! We enjoyed several trips on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the town of Black Mountain was fun to visit. We'll be back!

A great getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of life! The property was beyond our expectations. Clean and had everything we needed. The high ceilings make the unit seem very spacious.

We ate at Que Sera for dinner and the Veranda for lunch. Both were exceptional! We went to the Black Mountain Saturday market and it was quaint and lovely. Also made a trek to the NC Apple Festival in Hendersonville. A lot of people but very enjoyable. Overall, we loved the secludedness of the property and walking around the subdivision roads. The steep roads make for great exercise even on a stroll.

FYI - ATT does not have service in and around the neighborhood. We had wifi so were able to keep in touch via emails if necessary.

We will certainly be back for a visit!

Exceeded our expectations

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent 4 weeks in August at this terrific location. Not only are Jim & Sue great folks and fun to be around but the apartment itself was a wonderful experience. Everything needed was provided and the location was convenient to our sightseeing desires and good golf courses. We enjoyed the small town of Black Mountain which has some really good restaurants to partake of. The natural beauty of the mountains from the patio was a nice bonus for us as we escaped the heat of Texas.

Great Get Away Spot

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was a great place to stay during a long week end. We had a family graduation and wanted to be away from all of the hustle and bustle, so this was a very peaceful retreat in a beautiful setting. With easy access to the interstate, it was not a problem to get into Asheville. Minutes from Black Mountain, with it's great restaurants and interesting shops made a nice afternoon outing. The apartment was nicely appointed with all that we needed! We would highly recommend this property and would not hesitate to stay there again!
