We were weekenders for many years, but finally decided to build our dream home on the property in 2008. Mark is a Washington University professor, and Alice is a substitute teacher in the local area. We love it here!
Alice Martin purchased this house in 1996
This property was purchased because of the natural beauty of the area. The area is covered with oaks, hickories and cedar trees, as well as many native wildflowers. The convenience of I-44 close by was an added benefit.
This home is secluded, private and very, very quiet. The natural environment is restful and restorative. You can be as isolated as you like, or you can choose to be a tourist and get out to numerous attractions, it is all up to you!
This is the third visit we have had at the Post Oak Chase Guest House. It is clean, peaceful, fun, inspirational, and a time to be together as a family. We'll be back!
Just a great place. Loved the seclusion and trails. As long as the temperatures are good, the first week of November was nearly perfect.
Quiet, peaceful retreat just as advertised! Lake had good fishing, wonderful nature trails, close to two major caves, good restaurants a 1/2 hour away! Clean and neat with the needed amenities. We loved it!
We were looking for a place close to home to reconnect with the quiet. Alice's property more than fit the bill. The house is the perfect size, well stocked and comfortable. We had our standard poodle with us and she had a blast, swimming in the pond, running thru the very well maintained paths thru the woods and relaxing on the front porch. Alice asked me if she thought we needed wifi service and I said absolutely not. It does one well to unhook from the TV, computer, ipad, games and whatever else you have yourself hooked up too. We no longer need to travel 5 to 10 hours to get back to total nature. We will be returning frequently.
Very, very quite & peaceful! we loved the pond, the trails & the fireplace. It was super nice that the dogs had free rain of the property. They loved it!!
We spent a couple of nights with our dog and just loved it! This house was clean and nicely decorated and the property was very well attended. We walked the trails through the 70 acres and it was quiet (except for the occasional cow mooing in the distance, which we loved), well maintained, and completely private! Our dog absolutely loved it also. The sheets were soft, the kitchen was well equipped and firewood was provided for the wood stove and fire pit next to the dock. Loved that there was no television or internet. No distractions while sitting on porch with our coffee, just peacefulness. We definitely think it was a good value and a would recommend to others.
Our cabin is in a rural location, with all the privacy and scenery that such a setting provides. An abundance of wildlife, beautiful scenery, walking trails, fishing, and canoeing are available right on the property.
