Quiet, private, relaxing, and very dog friendly.

  • 5 of 5

This was a great place to get away for a long weekend. My kids and I decided to take a long weekend and get away for a bit over spring break. It was too cold for swimming but we did kayak and hike and make a fire outside in the evening. The next day it rained but the house itself is very clean and comfortable and we kept busy with games and puzzles. Our dog probably had the best time of all of us. She ran and ran and ran - something she can’t do where we live. There was no traffic to worry about or concern that she would bother anyone. And the owners even provide dog dishes and towels for wiping off paws. It’s not that far from the town if you need to run out but it is super quiet and feels like you are really out there - which we thoroughly enjoyed since we live in the city. It probably would have been nice to have a TV for the rainy day so we could watch a movie, but we managed fine.

A little slice of heaven

  • 5 of 5

We spent my birthday weekend at Post Oak Chase and it was everything that we had hoped for. The house is spacious and is well equipped with kitchen essentials, extra blankets and pillows and room to spread out. Our two dogs loved swimming in the pond and exploring the property with us. We ate out Friday night at the White Mule Winery and enjoyed a good meal, good wine and friendly people. I have never seen so many stars in the night sky as we could see from the porch when we got back to the cabin. We cooked hot dogs over an open fire Saturday night and listened to the coyotes serenade us. It was a perfect weekend.

We were a little too early for the WiFi to be functioning and cell phone reception was spotty, but that was a good thing. We relaxed, unplugged and enjoyed everything nature had to share. I highly recommend staying at Post Oak Chase.

Stay for a while!

  • 5 of 5

Great little house on a good fishing hole. The house is just big enough for a family or two couples (if one couple will stay on the bunk bed!) and the common area is very comfy and roomy. Fishing is easy off the fishing dock and my angler father had a good time catching sunfish and a few tiny catfish using just worms. They had a canoe, 2 kayaks, and a sit-on-top kind of kayak.

The lake is larger than a pond, but not too large. It's an easy stroll around the parameter of the lake, and the owners have their hose on the other side- but it's completely obscured by trees so renters still have their privacy. There is a map to many trails which are well maintained and easy to find.

House was simple and very clean. No bugs inside! Kitchen had everything we needed. We stayed for the weekend, and it seemed like just a taste of a longer, more relaxing vacation. We will be booking for a few days next time so we can really settle into the relaxing woods.

The house was clean and well maintained. Alice was very nice and accommodating. The kayaks were also a plus and the whole family enjoyed them. Our dog also had a ton of fun looking for fish in the pond. Overall a very fun and relaxing trip!!

Awesome getaway house and lake!

  • 4 of 5

Love the property and all the amenities. We did bring our own tv for relaxing indoors. We built a bonfire on the lake and enjoyed cocktails in the evening. The house was very comfortable and the rooms were perfect for the 2 of us. The dishwasher didn't clean very well. There was too much moss in the lake to swim. And we soon found out we weren't alone. We saw people fishing on the lake and we were Sun bathing on the dock. There was also a tent on the back side on another property about 75 ft. Away. This was a good location as we went to Hermann, Mo. for a day at the winery town. We antique shopped and enjoyed lunch. We also went floating in Steelville 1 day and also had a picnic on the Bourbeuse river another day. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others. Thanks

Owner's Response: Hi Jamie, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at our guest house. We do occasionally have an issue with "seaweed" in the pond, but it is harmless. We have grass carp in the pond to control it, but the amount can vary during the summer and is beyond our control. My husband and I just walked the back side of our property to see what "tent" you were referring to. We do have several green tarps behind the guest house as well as a dark green pole barn, but we own more than a hundred yards surrounding the house in all directions. As for the fisherman, it was my husband. We live on the same property as the guest house. Our house is on the other side of the pond and is not visible from the guest house. We do occasionally fish or swim from the dock on our side of the pond, but we always stay on our side of the pond when we have guests. To our knowledge, there wasn't anyone else on the property except us, but I am sorry that my husband's presence disturbed your sunbathing. I'm glad you found some activities in the area. There are a lot of fun things to do around here, and I'm sure you enjoyed the Bourbeuse and the floating! Alice
