The home's history:
4417 Dryades, like much of New Orleans, has an ambience all its own, with architectural features of different historical periods.
In the early 1900s, the Mexican Counsel to the United States purchased the property. A ceramic-tile pool with a unique domed ceiling were added in 1927. In 1972, the building was sold to become one of the first in a series of indoor scuba diving schools. Prior to our recent renovations, the property was a clothing-optional Bed & Breakfast.
Contact owner for festival rates. Festival rates are higher than the listed rates.
We are licensed with the city and have recently passed inspections by the city and state fire marshals. Certified fire extinguishers are mounted throughout the house and a fire alarm system was recently installed.
Todd, Dustin, and Kristin loved the history of the home and bought it in 2014.

It is such a unique place with old New Orleans warmth, an indoor pool, and nine nice, comfortable individual rooms. The back patio is cozy and the backyard and large deck are comfortably spacious. The pool is 40' by 16'.
Three blocks from the St. Charles street car. Ten blocks from Magazine street where shopping and restaurants are abundant. La Boulangerie, a french bakery, is nearby and was voted best bakery in New Orleans. The property is across from Pascale's Manale and Charlie's Steak House. IL Posto Cafe, a great coffee house restaurant, is three blocks away on Dryades serving great sandwiches, salads, and wine.
Our family of 16 stayed in this great house for Thanksgiving. Everyone loved the pool and all of the space. The house has a few quirks, but they added to the charm. Leo was very helpful. Only thing to note is there is now only one kitchen which doesn't have much counter space - which made cooking Thanksgiving dinner a little more complicated.
We took a group of 10 directors on a teambuilding retreat to New Orleans, and this home was perfect! Plenty of room and private baths for everyone, lots of build-in activity with the pool, and a great city for relaxing. The property was clean, well cared for, and well managed by our new friend, Leo.
Thanks for a great trip, Blue Lagoon and NOLA!
Twelve close friends decided to celebrate my husband's 40th in New Orleans. None of us had ever been there before. We chose this house because of its size and number of bathrooms. The home was absolutely beautiful and well exceeded everyone’s expectations! Everyone was comfortable and had sufficient privacy. There’s a beautiful kitchen with an adjoining Great Room, with several bedrooms and bathrooms. The pool area with the attached bar was a great place for everyone to gather, hang out, have cocktails, and take a dip. The first night we went to the Columns Hotel for a drink and then walked over to Magazine Street and ate at Cavan. The home is in a great location where you can walk to a number of great restaurants and bars, or hop in a very inexpensive Uber to other areas of the city. The second day it rained, but we were all very content staying in by the pool and enjoying the beautiful space. The third day, we explored the Garden District, French Market, and Royal Street. I highly recommend Frenchman Street where we spent most nights during our stay. All in all, this was a FANTASTIC place to rent for a wonderful weekend in the Big Easy with our group of friends. Also, the home keeper/maintenance professional at this home is a wealth of knowledge on the entire city…Long Live LEO!
Fourteen of us travelled from England to stay in the house for a friend's wedding. We had an absolutely fabulous time. The house was as lovely as described. Everything we needed was provided, bedding, towels, pool rafts. We were able to do our laundry after a few days. We had a fantastic stay and wonderful wedding day. Everything was in working order and we had plenty places to relax. I spent most of my time reading in the backyard hammock. We are looking for an excuse to all get together and return in 2017.
This house was perfect for us. We came on a family trip with several adults ranging from 23 to 73, and several kids from 3 mos to 15yrs. The pool was a huge hit with the kids. They'll be talking about it for years. With the poolside bar and kitchen it became the hangout spot for the whole group for the weekend. There's also a large dining area and kitchen elsewhere in the house where we had a sitdown dinner. The bedrooms were all totally unique, spacious and comfortable. The house has its own driveway for parking which is also nice. I've stayed in different parts of New Orleans and loved the location. You could spend a day walking around the neighborhood looking at houses and trees. But it's still just a few blocks from the street car which heads straight into the French Quarter. Folks who drove in were there in a few minutes. There are a number of great restaurants within walking distance too, including Pascale's where we went for oysters/happy hour a couple of times. Everyone wants to do this again.
So great. After the initial wow factor, and during our walk-through, my husband and I picked up on many intriguing vibrations. I asked Leo, the manager, if anyone mentioned anything about the place being haunted. He laughed, and said “The spirits are harmless and perhaps nudists.” Ha! He gave us a brief history of the place. Decades ago, he actually swam in the pool when it was a diving school before it was a clothing-discouraged B&B. On our last night, we called Karen for Garden District restaurant recommendations, and she was a big help. The Rum House on Magazine Street was delicious. So overall, the place is wonderfully mysterious and comfortable, exactly what we wanted from an authentic New Orleans vacation.
Some of these services are on demand and extra, of course.
All cleaning fees are included in the rate.
