Photos and Description of this 4 bedroom holiday home in Winchester - 198 Cypress Point Drive

Beautiful Lake Home! IDEAL LOCATION! 15 miles to Bear Trace Golf & Sewanee,Tn!!

FLY IN BY PRIVATE PLANE to the Winchester Airport located 3 miles from this home which is also a mere mile from the HISTORIC DISTRICT. Or make a road trip. Whichever traveling mode you may choose, you will be visiting the most conveniently located vacation home rental on Tims Ford Lake!

DECOR RECENTLY UPDATED...NEW PHOTOS COMING SOON!!!

Cypress Point is not only nestled in the beautiful foothills of the Cumberland Plateau, it is tucked at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in a small neighborhood of 9 homes located on a secluded cove of Tims Ford Lake. Just a mile from Winchester's charming town square, Cypress Point is ideally situated in Franklin County enabling easy access to Historic Winchester, Estill Springs, Cowan, Sewanee, and Monteagle, Fayetteville, and Lynchburg for shopping, dining, or touring the city and state parks or the many area attractions as the area is rich with history. Bike along the quaint historic area to reach the town square within minutes. Canoeing the Elk River is also minutes away in addition to horseback riding, seasonal hunting, four-wheeling, and dirt biking fun which can be had on nearby and picturesque Keith Springs Mountain! Visit the Belvidere area's old mill and store and shop for a couple of Adiriondack chairs handcrafted by the Menninites to take home. The Unclaimed Baggage Center, famous for bargains, is 44 miles away in Scottsboro, AL.

The Cypress Point Lake House, a 2-story home constructed in 2007, is at the tip of the Cypress Point subdivision. If you appreciate horticulture, there is an abundance of annuals, perennials, and flowering and fragrant shrubbery. A charming front porch accented by the stacked stone masonry is the perfect place to enjoy afternoon coctails and the sweet perfume of the rose garden garnishing the handsomely landscaped grounds. However, if a shady spot is your afternoon preference, the covered back deck overlooking the private back yard, field, and wooded area would be your choice. This deck includes new rocking chairs, a new extra large stainless steel grill, 6 dining chairs with glass-topped dining table all which adjoin the downstairs great room via double French doors. Watch the sun rise on this deck. Another outdoor spot for your relaxation is the upper balcony's seating area. Lastly is the back lawn for enjoying the provided bocce ball or croquet sets, or perhaps bring your own corn hole, volleyball or badminton sets or golf gear for putting. The fire bowl and seating area are also located on the back lawn; however, we ask that guests build no fires during times of drought.

Family friendly and perfect for entertaining, the open and airy floor plan includes large windows facing the private back yard with cathedral ceilings in the great room all combining to allow for optimal natural light. Designed with antiques and charming details for your comfort, the lake house at Cypress Point provides the perfect environment for a relaxing and fun Tennessee vacation! The main level features a large living room with lots of comfortable seating (including three sofas) for all to view the large screen television and is open to a professional and modern, fully furnished kitchen with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances with an eat-in kitchen including a table seating six, an adjoining long antique church pew to accommodate more diners, and a breakfast bar seating two additional people. Again, these three areas are open to each other incorporated as one, in a sense, in a great room type of setting. The main level also includes 2 bedrooms, a full bath, and a laundry room with large load capacity washer and dryer and long counter for folding. The stairway leads you from the main level to a landing with another seating area and a quaint reading nook with 100+ books for your pleasure. At the top of the stairs is an overlook landing with views into the main level living room and of a bit of the cove of the lake.

The second story includes the fabulous master bedroom with cathedral ceilings and unique antique furnishings. The master bedroom features a private deck with seating perfect for enjoying your morning coffee while others are sleeping, for sunbathing and lounging by day, or for watching the moon rise over Sewanee Mountain at night. The second story also boasts a large and luxurious full master bath with a jacuzzi tub, a separate shower, and a double vanity (double sinks with mirrored wall behind).

An additional room containing a daybed with a pull out bed underneath, a full-length mirror, wicker table with lamp, wicker lounge chair, and two closets for plentiful storage is located upstairs and shares the master bath in the case that this room may be needed for extra sleepers. While this room is very small and cozy accomodating two children or one adult well, it may feel tight for two adults. This is the room which we use as the semi-4th bedroom as it is vented to the heating and air system but has no window.

The very large boat dock and ramp is conveniently located directly across the street from the home and is property of the neighborhood association. It is of utmost importance that rules are followed and the neighborhood area and neighbors themselves are treated respectfully. You will be furnished a private slip and will be provided the slip number to dock your watercraft if using the dock. It is important to adhere to using our slip. The slip number will be relayed upon booking of the reservation after an understanding has been reached by the guests to follow the dock rules such as no running, no cluttering of the walkways, keeping noise levels low for consideration of the neighbors, etc. Basically, the rules involve common courtesy for others and for safety for all--rental guests, neighbors, and for the neighborhood. For safety concerns, an addendum to the covenants and by-laws requires that children under the age of 16 be escorted by an adult.

Also, in showing consideration for the neighborhood residents, we ask that guests park in the home's driveway and/or to the left of the drive on the home's lawn. There is AMPLE PARKING AREA ON THE HOME'S PROPERTY alleviating any need to park on the street.

THE BEACH----The sandy public Winchester Beach and picnic area is a nice feature to have located so nearby by merely travelling under the bridge just yards from our community dock. Just around the bend from the beach is the Winchester City Park and also the Bass Club for fishing enthusiasts.

The 4 or 3 bedrooms sleeping a total of 11 people include 2 queen beds, 2 twin beds, 1 bunk bed and 2 trundle-type beds. There is a queen size self-inflatable mattress if anyone prefers sleeping in the great room or adding this mattress in one of the bedrooms or elsewhere. However you choose to arrange the sleeping, we ask that you do not sleep more than 11 people at the property in consideration of the neighborhood residents.

The home features 2 full bathrooms, a fully equipped modern kitchen with granite countertops, hardwood floors throughout with tile floors in the baths and laundry. The three televisions are serviced by satellite. Although the home is not wheel chair accessible, it is easily accessible, indeed, with minimal steps to the front porch and deck.

Tims Ford Lake is one of Tennessee's best kept secrets with approximately 11,000 acres and 250 miles of shore line! If fishing is a priority for your group, Tim's Ford is well known as a great smallmouth bass and striped bass lake. Largemouth bass, crappie, and catfish are also plentiful. We can provide leads to local guides who can "put you on the fish".

Approximately 9 miles (11 minutes) from Nissan North America; 13 miles (25 min) from Jack Nicklaus Bear Trace Golf Course; 15 miles (25 min) from the University of the South, Sewanee; 44 miles from Unclaimed Baggage Center Scottsboro, AL; 73 miles (1 hr. 18 min.) from Chattanooga; 96 miles (1 hr. 38 min. from Nashville International Airport (BNA), and 23 miles (38 min.) from the Jack Daniels Distillery.

Either arrive by automobile or FLY IN BY PRIVATE PLANE TO THE WINCHESTER AIRPORT located a mere 3 miles away at the intersection of Veterans Parkway and Cowan Highway leading to Cowan and then Sewanee...and Monteagle.

Welcome to VRBO's most conveniently located home on Tims Ford Lake!

The home was lovely! Nicely decorated and landscaped with quiet neighborhood.

  • 5 of 5

My husband, five children and myself made a short visit to the lake for a few days of rest and fun family time. The floor plan is open, with 7 beds in bedrooms...we had plenty of room!

We generally rent water front property but chose this home because of the private boat ramp, boat slip and dock across the street. It was extremely convenient! Very easy to use.

I wholeheartedly recommend this home to everyone!

Just as awesome the second time around

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year staying at this house and it's just as impressive the second time around!

Upon our arrival, we got to meet the owner, as she was just finishing up some last minute tidying. Through our stay last year and in working on this year's reservation, I've had some good contact with her, but this was our first face-to-face meeting and what a joy! She made us feel very welcome and right at home. I had two returning and two new Team Members working a local festival (International Dogwood Festival) and all were impressed.

The home sits in a small, quiet subdivision just off the edge of town. Nestled in the cul dé sac of the neighborhood, access to Tim Ford Lake is just across the street and Winchester is about a mile or so down the road. Just past Winchester is the town of Deckerd, where you can find almost anything. The online description is really an understatement of this property.

The home, as it was last year, was immaculately clean. The family room has loads of seating. The kitchen is VERY well stocked. Board games, card games and other games, both indoors and out are readily available. If we hadn't been there to work, this place offers many ways to have a relaxing stay. All of the beds were very comfortable. Linens were readily available and plentiful. A good-sized back yard with fire pit & Adirondack chairs surrounding it awaits evening fires, chats, hotdog roasts and/or s'mores parties. There's plenty of room for kids to run and play.

So a little bit more about the surrounding area. Our first day in, we stopped at a local diner, Skip's. TRY THE BURGERS!!! Not the fanciest of places, but the food is incredible, prices are great and service is awesome, too. The home owner also gave us a tip for a local discount grocery store that unfortunately, due to a needed prescription refill, sent us to the local Kroger in Deckerd.

The second "find" and jewel of this year's trip was in Deckerd, as well. If you like breakfast, make haste unto a place called Sunrise Breakfast. At 9am on a Saturday, the parking lot was FULL. Even with that, we were seated, order taken, served, finished and out the door in under 45 minutes without feeling rushed. And the food... incredible. Again, great food, good portions, good prices and fabulous service.

If you're in this area, this is a wonderful home in which to stay. The owner is very responsive to your needs and is a pleasure with whom to interact. We're hoping next year makes it three in a row!!

Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was wonderful at this beautiful home. The home was exceptional clean and had all the items needed throughout the home for a great time. We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights, and the deck was awesome, as we enjoyed playing cards with our friends and star gazing. We also left something behind and Karen, the owner was gracious and mailed to us. We will definitely return hopefully in warmer weather so we may enjoy the lake. Thanks again for allowing us into your inviting home!

Family Reunion

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous time during our stay on this beautiful property. It is a great home for both entertaining and relaxing; very well stocked with things for everyone to enjoy from indoor/outdoor games, the spectacular options in the kitchen, & everything in between. The view of the stars at night were breathtaking (we don't see stars that amazingly clear in Chicago), and the lake was absolutely beautiful. The owner, Karen, was incredibly kind, and accommodating during our family trip. We traveled with older children (14-21) who loved everything about the house, the lake, & area around it. The private dock also allowed us to bring & use our wave runner during our stay. We would love to stay at this home again sometime in the near future.
