My family of seven adults, one infant, and two dogs stayed at this northern escape for Christmas 2016. This cozy cabin had more than enough room for the entire family to relax and have fun. The kitchen was fully equiped with eveything we needed to make a tasty Christmas feast. Not only did the kitchen have everything we needed (from dishes to spices) it also was very large and open to the family room. The views of Lake Superior were gorgous and I'm sure it is even prettier in the summer months. The fireplace was easy to use and there was plenty of firewood in the shed. This cabin had eveything we needed, plenty of space for eveyone, and I would highly recommend staying there.
Our family rented the High Brow Cabin over the Thanksgiving holiday. As promised, the cabin is fully stocked, we had everything we needed to cook our Thanksgiving meal. The dining room overlooks beautiful Lake Superior, as does much of the rest of the cabin. It was a magical holiday. This cabin getaway is the perfect place to celebrate family.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Heather's Cabin. It was comfortable, serene and homey with spectacular views of Lake Superior. Two bald eagles and a juvenile kept us company everyday perched on the rocks below. The kitchen is equipped with just about anything you would want. The wood stove kept us warm at night after a soothing sauna. Amazing sunrises and sunsets, moonrises reflected on the lake and great star viewing. Coffee on the deck in the late AM and early afternoon gave time for soaking up the last warmth of Fall and time for reflection. The Superior Hiking trails nearby are abundant with spectacular views of Autumn and range from easy walks to challenging hikes. Groceries and nice restaurants are only a short drive away, but staying right at the cabin was our favorite. Thanks for a fabulous restorative week!
We just returned from a wonderful stay at the Highbrow Cabin. We couldn't have asked for better accommodations and a more stellar view. We arrived in the evening and had no idea the treat that awaited us the next morning when the sun was up. There is just no way the photos can do the view justice. The owner was very kind and communicative. The cabin was lovely -- very clean and well-maintained. There were 7 of us -- 4 adults, 2 toddlers, and a baby -- and there was plenty of space. We enjoyed Camp 61 for dinner, hiking in Tetegouche State Park, and went for a day trip to Grand Marais. It was my first time on the North Shore -- will definitely be back!
This is my second trip to the Highbrow. It's a beautiful home overlooking Lake Superior. There is only one house anywhere close to it, and I've never seen anyone there, so it's incredibly secluded. I love this place. I cannot get enough!
Setting was gorgeous! The kitchen was wonderful, beds very comfortable. We had a very relaxing time and would go again! Grand Marais is always fun to visit and there are a lot of hiking opportunities in the area with all the State Parks and the Superior Hiking Trail.
The Highbrow Cabin on the cliff is situated on three acres of beautiful North Shore woods, with 235 feet of breath taking shoreline.
The huge logs that make up the structure provide a cozy cabin feel, but the home is luxurious! Enjoy amazing views of the sun rising over the lake through the floor to ceiling windows; warm up after a day in the woods around the wood burning stove; or take a steam in the newly constructed Sauna! Watch bald eagles soar from the beautiful large deck that overlook Lake Superior and makes you feel as if you’re on top of the world.

On the first floor is another spacious bedroom with two full beds that can be joined to make a king. Downstairs is the third bedroom with another two full beds that can be made into a king.
