Typically Spanish house located in the heart of this historic, white 'pueblo' town. Superb views! Tastefully furnished and fully equipped to the highest standards. Only 45 mins drive to the coast, Jerez, Gibraltar Airports, 50 mins to Cadiz and 1hr 20 mins to Seville. Soak up the real atmosphere of Andalucia, the birthplace of flamenco and bullfighting. Completely renovated in 2005 and has two terraces with magnificant views. Car parking close to the house.
Clive and I moved to Spain in 2005 and bought our first little house in Alcala de los Gazules. Clive had just retired from teaching modern languages (very useful!), and I had worked as a garden designer. We completely 'reformed' Casa Vista but kept the Andalusian character. We subsequently bought and sold another house and then our own house - but Casa Vista was, and is, our favourite house. In fact, if it were a bit bigger, we would definitely live in it ourselves We live on the other side of the village from Casa Vista and spend our time (Clive) writing books and I enjoy painting portraits. We try to play golf each week in nearby Jerez. There are a few other 'Brits' living here and the local people are extremely friendly and helpful. The countryside around is wonderful and there's always somewhere new to explore. There are so many 'fiestas' going on during the year and the Alcalainos love it if we join in with their celebrations.
Jude and Clive Wiseman purchased this house in 2005
Our little house is perfect for couples but can easily accommodate another couple on the sofa bed in the top room. We stayed in the house ourselves to make sure everything needed for a 'home from home' stay was there. Everything is provided (and that includes toilet paper!) so only food shopping is necessary. We always arrange to meet our guests to hand over the keys and are 'on hand' if there is a problem. A welcoming bowl of fruit, milk and water (plus sundry other basics) are provided at the start of the holiday.
Alcala de los Gazules is perfectly positioned for visiting the beaches, Jerez de la Frontera, Cadiz, Gibraltar, Seville and all the other 'white villages' in the area. It retains it's very Spanish character if you are looking for the 'real Spain' but also has a very special International Music Festival every year in August with instrumentalists from the top London orchestras, and soloists to match. There is always something of interest 'going on' in the town/village and just enough English speakers to help out if necessary! Alcala is perfectly situated for sightseeing with the virtually empty motorway A381 linking Jerez, Seville, Cadiz, Gibraltar, Algeciras and the Costa del Sol .
Lovely cosy house that accommodated the 4 of us. Home from home - fruit and milk there on arrival + toiletries should you wish to use them.
A warm and well organised welcome when we got here. Tony showed us how to get to Casa Vista and navigate through the village. He was also happy to answer queries we had.
Loved the house, the village (great tapas!) and the area. Folk friendly and patient with us!
We chose this property for its wonderful views and we weren't disappointed. It's roof terraces offer a great place to start the day with breakfast and end the day with a glass of wine or dinner. We found Alcala de Gazules a great location to explore the province of Cadiz. The principle cities of Cadiz and Jerez were just a half hour's drive away, whilst there are also many white villages worth exploring as well as a natural park, with great walks and spectacular views, a short drive from the property. The house , whilst small and a bit quirky, is very well equipped and even has a library of books and very useful tourist information guides available to plan your excursions. Communication with the owners was excellent and our onsite host, Tony, was extremely welcoming and helpful. I would highly recommend this property.
We spent five days in this traditional three-storey character house situated in the mountain town of Alcala de los Gazules in the province of Cadiz.
This small clean two-bedroom house has been renovated to a high standard and is fully equipped and suitable for a family. We particularly liked the new kitchen and the two sundecks overlooking a natural park. The house is located centrally in an area which allows one to explore this interesting province.
The town itself has a number of restaurants and bars for those not wishing to prepare their own food along with small shops that stock a variety of groceries.
The locals are friendly and will assist with directions although a navigation system is helpful especially when entering and leaving the town.
At the start of your holiday you will meet the owners, Jude and Clive, who are welcoming and speak a variety of European languages. They are also very well informed about the amenities of the town and the wider area.
We enjoyed the short time we spent in this area giving us an insight into the Spanish way of life in a small town and would recommend this holiday accommodation.
Leave the A381 motorway at one of the two exits to Alcala de los Gazules. Phone the owners then follow the road up to the town. The owners will meet you at Bar Pizarro in the Plaza de la Paseo (see town map) and take you to the house.
