The Whaler is located in the heart of Kaanapali Beach where shops, restaurants, golf courses and beach activities are just around the corner! No car needed to enjoy your vacation since everything is walking distance from the condominium.

This beautiful one bedroom and two bath non-smoking OCEANFRONT condominium (941 sqft) is one of the best locations within the resort! It's located just on the 2nd floor facing directly to the beach and ocean! Given it's location the pool, beach and other amenities are just a few steps away! The condo (unit 251 in Tower II) has a kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, private washer/dryer, and much more! The unit has a king-size bed as well as a sofa bed and can accommodate up to four persons. Enjoy the breathtaking, unobstructed ocean view right from your own personal wrap around lanai (additional 408 sqft)!

This is definitely the perfect paradise for your Hawaiian vacation!

Property view and location is just as advertised. Great views and close to everything - Whaler's Village, restaurants ,Black Rock et al.

Some things could be uodated - carpet could be replaced with tile or something more beach friendly. Bathrooms could use a little modernizing as well- faucets are old, tub spout in front bathroom doesn't work ( only shower function)

But the price for location and views are what you are here for- these cosmetic improvements would make it a more "picture perfect" place.

Outstanding location and great view!

We have stayed at The Whaler numerous times over the years. We love the location right on the beach and the convenience of being directly next to Whaler's Village. Unit #251 was the absolute best location that we have ever had there! The unit is directly overlooking the beach, and the wrap around lanai gives you incredible views of the beach as well as "Blackrock". Because you are on the second floor, you are literally steps away from the beach, as well as the gas BBQ area. I cannot express how convenient the location is compared to other larger resorts. The unit was very clean and the living area was comfortable. The kitchen was updated and well equipped with pretty much everything you should need, including a blender! The bed was very comfortable. The bathrooms were a little more dated than the previous rooms we have rented at The Whaler, but the outstanding location made up for it. I was a little disappointed that the unit did not have anything for the beach! There was no ice chest, no umbrella, and most importantly no beach chairs! Our past Whaler rooms have always come well equipped with "beach gear". The Whaler does offer complimentary beach chairs at the pool, but they are first come first serve and they are not very comfortable. I ended up renting two "Tommy Bahama" chairs for the week. I realize that this may not be very important for some people, but it would have been extremely nice to have included in the room and would have saved me a few bucks. Overall, we had an outstanding stay and were extremely happy with the room. I would challenge anyone to find a better location with a better view for the price! Great location with great beach access.

This unit has a very nice kitchen that is well equiped. The balcony is literelly steps from a great beach. Restaurants, beach activities, convenience store, and full shopping are within 100 yards but you have complete privacy from them. Quiet and beautiful. Cant beat this location. Been to Maui many times. This is my favorite.

Buyer Beware

This was my 7th trip to Maui and second stay at the Whaler. We visited The Whaler a few years back but stayed in a different unit. We visited February 25 through March 4, 2017. Based on the pictures that the owner provided on the vrbo my husband and I knew that the unit had not recently been updated but it seemed ok for the price we paid to rent the unit. We were wrong. There was a problem with an infestation of ghost ants. On the second day of our honeymoon we noticed white ants crawling all over the kitchen countertops and up and down the white walls. They were coming from the drop ceiling in the kitchen which is in dire need of updating. (There is also a drop ceiling in the bathroom that is pretty gross and in need of updating but no ants) We informed the owner who was very responsive, which we appreciated. The maintenance tech for the property came to our unit and informed us that it needed to be remediated with pest control who could not arrive until the following day. The owner sent out a woman to clean the unit while we were at dinner, which was appreciated but I think she sent her there to scope out the place more than anything. The owner sent us a $100 gift certificate to a restaurant in an attempt to accommodate us. While we appreciated the gesture we thought it was weak. We paid to stay in the unit for a week and felt the concession offered to us did not appropriately reflect the inconvenience. Luckily the pest control showed up the next day and the treatment worked. The ants disappeared for a few days. However, to our dismay we noticed they were back the day before we were scheduled to depart. At this point we were ready to get the heck out of there. On a positive note, I will admit that the view from the property is one of the best on Maui. It is truly amazing! The owners are very responsive. We just had a bad experience. There are many upgraded units at the Whaler, you might have to pay a bit more but it's worth it.

Owner's Response: In the 10+ years that we’ve been renting our condo at the Whaler, we’ve never had any issues with bugs or ants. The resort is responsible for pest control and performs regular maintenance treatments throughout the property. We sent our maid service to the condo immediately to assess the situation so that she can provide specific details to the resort’s maintenance personnel. The ants were isolated to only one small area in the kitchen. Because it was a Friday evening, the extermination company could not come until the next day. Based on our discussion with resort management, this year has been one of the wettest years on Maui, which has created more activity with ants and bugs. And the ant situation was not isolated to just our condo as there were several condos that were affected. The “infestation” was not in the ceiling nor did the ceiling have anything to do with the ants in our condo. The ants were coming from the floors above ours. The resort did had have the exterminator come back and treat all of the units on our floor and floors above. Since then we have not had any other issues with ants or bugs, and the resort will continue to do their routine pest control maintenance. The guest appeared appreciative and pleased with the gift certificate to one of the finest dining restaurants in Maui. They had not address to us that they were this displeased with the situation and was expecting more compensation. If they had, we would have been happy to work something out with them. We are always continuing to strive to make our condo a great vacation home for our guests. Just in the last 6 months, we've replaced the carpeting, living room furniture and window treatments. Our goal is to have all of our guests enjoy their stay and our condo.

This room has it all. The views on the lanai are out of this world. Baby whales breaching! Maui is truly paradise.
