I am a physician and insurance company executive who has a great passion for exploration and adventure. I first explored Costa Rica in 1999 and became enchanted with this beautiful country. I decided to purchase this property in order to have a more comfortable accommodation during my visits but also as a form of investment as I believe there is a market for this type of unique property in the travel market. I specifically purchased this property because I was intrigued with the concept of a 'Eco-Residential' development. Costa Rica is a country that is very conscious or aware of the environment and Bosques de Escazu reflects this philosophy. Everything from LED lighting to water recycling and the use of sustainable materials are included in the characteristics of this property. The location is idyllic being located in the neighborhood called 'Corazon de Jesus'. For those who are interested in being close to an authentic and historic Costa Rican town, the small 'pueblo' of Escazu and its many small shops, bars, restaurants, markets and other businesses are a short distance away.

A nice modern condo
First of all I will point out a couple of things that would make it more user friendly. It could have a couple of oven proof baking dishes and a couple of mixing bowls. On the owners behalf we never ask for them.
The condo is nice and clean and bright, and the grounds and building are immaculate. The staff are all very friendly.
The hills are very challenging but give you a free fitness work out.

Edge of the city
A lovely condo in an extremely well maintained property. A view of the surrounding hills of Escazu when you wake up from your bedroom. A great pool and all the amenities are clean and well cared for. The people that work here are extremely helpful and friendly, we got advice on local transport and things to see in San Jose.
We walked to town most days and also took the local bus which stops just up the hill. There's a handy convenience store across the street for when you run out.
A great base if you want to stay closer to the airport and venture out on day trips.
The owner is responsive, got back to us within hours and also followed up with us to ensure our stay on his property was going as it should. We can't say enough good things about him as we prepared to stay here. A first class person who cares about his guests' experience.
A Gem in Escazu
Airy, light, bright unit in the hills of Escazu. Located in a very well taken care of gated apartment complex with lovely facilities. Guards and cleaners were always working and courteous. On site Manager spoke English as did owner's representative. Owner is very responsive. You are exposed to the sights and sounds of the city but are perfectly safe. Three small convenience stores within two blocks (one directly across the street). Helpful to have a car, a local cell phone and speak some Spanish.Taxis were available and the bus into San Jose was just up the block. The sofa/bed in front of the TV in not very comfortable for a long sit. Overall it gets 4.5 + out of 5.

2nd tine in this apt, and is the perfect place to stay in san jose, nice and quiet but close to everything you need.
Escazu with a view!
Our unit was new, clean, organized, safe and functional. It was well managed by the property management company. Erick was timely, friendly and prepared as were the security personnel we dealt with every day. Everything in the unit worked. It was great having an efficient washer and dryer available. We learned some of the best restaurants within the first few days. And they were GREAT!! As always, the people made the trip. Great experience.
Modern, clean apartment in Upper Escazu
The 1BR apartment is brand new - so it really feels like you're the first one using the appliances and bathrooms. The community is very secure and contains great amenities like a gym and pool. The only downside is that the complex is on a hill, so it's kind of out of the way from the cool areas in Escazu like Multiplaza, and many taxis / people don't know how to get there. Like many places in San Jose, you NEED a car to live here because there's no reliable nearby public transportation. Additionally, while the owner is very helpful via email, the lady who manages the property in Costa Rica is very hard to reach. Although she's very nice and sweet, I had a very difficult time communicating with her - which proved problematic and quite annoying. E.g. she didn't email me back about my arrival logistics (like where to pick up the key, exact location, when to meet) until my flight had already arrived to Costa Rica and I didn't have wifi access to see the email so I had a very difficult time finding the property with my taxi and then ended up waiting outside for her to arrive. This is just one of many examples when her "Tico" mannerisms proved extremely difficult to deal with (i.e lack of responsivenes).
I want to thank you for your response. Like you, I was completely
frustrated with the level of responsiveness and untimely service
of the Rental Manager who was present during your stay. Her performance
fell far short of my expectations and in fact
was unacceptable. As a result I spent a week in Costa Rica interviewing
a new Rental Manager who came highly recommended to me through
a professional contact of my wife. The previous Rental Manager has been
removed and I am happy to report that the new Rental Manager is in
place and are already performing at a very high level, completely
meeting my standards.
As for your comments about the location, the condo is located in the old
and original town of Escazu where one will find authentic small stores,
restaurants and bars. The modern "new Escazu" where you will find
a major shopping mall, Avenida Escazu which is full of high end shops and other major hotels and restaurants is a short 10 minute cab ride or car ride
away. The location away from the highly developed newer Escazu can be viewed as an advantage, a disadvantage or both.
I do hope you will visit again and give my new Rental Manager an opportunity
to do a good job in meeting your vacation needs.
Arenal Volcano National Park is a 'must see' activity. It is an approximately 3 1/2 hour drive from Bosques de Escazu.

There is a $20 cleaning fee in addition to the one week rental charge. For periods of rent greater than one week, the apartment must be professionally cleaned by our cleaning service The renter is required to pay an additional $20 for our cleaning service for each additional week of occupancy. The initial cleaning fee is added to the initial rental charges. For stays longer than a week, additional $20 cleaning fees will added to the final bill and be paid by the renter.
