Conveniently location for Lebanon Valley College, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Racecourse, Hershey Medical Center and the PA Farm Show.
Our stay at the cottage was wonderful. It served as quiet place for evenings and a good central location to see PA historical sights. We visited during the autumn and the weather was great. The cottage is tidy, comfortable, and quite large, with a beautiful wrap around porch with chairs, tables, etc. We definitely enjoyed it.
This cottage was more than just right for us. We were impressed that it was more than we expected.
If anyone has activities in the Hershey / Lebanon area, this place is a superb alternative to hotel / motel options. It may look like the location is out of the way, but in reality it is not. Just minutes to Annville and just a few more to Palmyra where we enjoyed Funck's for breakfast!
I can't say enough how pleased we are!
We had an enjoyable time. It was very quiet and peaceful. Everything that we needed was supplied.
I am ridiculously late in posting this review - life just never slows down! I stayed here for 6 weeks this past winter with my husband, 6-month-old daughter, & for 4 of those weeks, my parents, so that I could attend Blackhawk helicopter training at Ft Indiantown Gap. It was wonderful! So much nicer than being crammed into a hotel (even the extended-stay types), or even one of the cabins on post. Army policy reduces the lodging allowance for trips over 30 days, and Rusty and Cathy were wonderful in working with me to stay under this reduced rate for a long-term rental in the off-season. Rusty was so responsive to all my questions, and Cathy helped us on the ground (for example, as the first long-term renters, we had to get a trash service!) I'm so glad I asked, because when my mom found this listing, I almost didn't bother because of the average nightly price listed here. If you need a long-term rental, especially in the off-season, drop Rusty a line!
The house only has one bathroom, small but very tastefully done with lovely stone tiles and a curved shower rod making the tub area feel spacious. Even with 4 adults sharing it for 4 total weeks (broken into 2-week blocks), there were only a handful of times that a second bathroom would have been preferred, so pretty darn impressive! The three bedrooms worked out well, especially considering the baby. It was so nice having laundry facilities; they were downstairs in the basement so you had to access it from the outside, but even it being winter time, it was not a problem. The living room is nice and spacious and is where we spent most of our time. I love how the natural light filled it, especially in the mornings. A few days were warm enough to spend time on the porch.
The yard is pretty; the house sits up on a hill off a pretty country road, and yet only 10 minutes to Ft Indiantown Gap and if I remember correctly, only about 10 minutes to get into Annville, so very convenient and yet it felt wonderfully secluded and peaceful. We met the neighbors on the right (as you look at the house from the street), who were such lovely people and really helped make the stay feel even more like home.
Though I came here specifically for Army training, it was a very convenient location to get out and explore Hershey to the west and Lebanon to the east (home of the seriously delicious Wertz candies/chocolate, and some fun breweries). If I ever come through this part of the country again, we'll definitely be staying here!
My husband and I, and four of our children loved your cottage! Beds were comfortable, linens, and house overall was very clean. We enjoyed sitting on the porch at night playing games with the kids. We also loved the fact that location was only 8 miles from Hershey, but yet we were in the country. Local market nearby, and Rita's custard which was a treat. The convenience to getting to Lancaster and all that area had to offer was a plus. Cathy stopped by shortly after we arrived which was a nice touch. One thing I would recommend is adding a screen door for fresh air and to keep flies out. And a few hooks in each bedroom to hang towels after showering....other than that it was perfect! Thank you for a terrific stay, we'll certainly share with others we know who may be visiting your area.
I looked online at a couple homes to stay in while we vacationed in PA for a few days doing all the Hershey fun. Im telling you right now, NO NEED TO KEEP LOOKING! You want this place! Hershey itself is a quick drive, you have to drive through a couple small towns to get there...BUT they are super cute and adorable, that you almost forget you are going to Hershey! There are restaurants, grocery and Rite Aid very close, in fact, its super fun to drive through all the hills. We found ourselves taking long ways around just to look at the scenery!
The home itself has the old charm of PA but with all of the modern things we are used to today. Water was clean and crisp, air was cool and breezy. This home had everything we needed for 3 days and was the perfect end to a busy Hershey Day. The view is not shown too well in these pictures, you will be surprised! Neighbors are not too close, but will shout hi if they see you:)
I literally can not think of anything negative to say! It was so nice, it even impressed my 7 year old son.... he now has a love for lightening bugs! Thank you Cathy and Rusty, y'all should be proud to own this place, thank you for sharing it with us!
