The owners are living in the farm and one of them is a Portuguese / English teacher.

Modern architecture using traditional materials of the region. The house has got every equipments you will need. Very cosy house tastefully decorated.

Wide diversity of wonderfull animals and plants (birdwatching).

Lots of fruit trees to pick up for your breakfast...

Excelent natural views.

The Farm ends at the Asseca stream.

Near the Waterfall "Pego do Inferno".

Highly recommended - The real Portugal!

We are a family of five, 3 boys ages 5, 7 and 15 and we had a lovely holiday at Mario and Armanda's beautiful home this October. It was better than expected (and it looked pretty good in the photos!) and we received such a warm welcome from all of the family. It is often difficult to keep 3 boys of various ages happy, but they all loved the place and have already asked if they can return one day. They really enjoyed disappearing into the Orchard each day for breakfast where they happily ate the amazing fruit that Orlando said they could help themselves to. Orlando's parents were also very kind and brought us fruit and jam, they also took time out to show us around the farm, even though our Portuguese is very poor.

Easy drive to Tavira and also to many other attractions nearby, but away from the hustle and bustle of the more Touristy areas. There are plenty of lovely beaches to visit and if you don't want to catch the boat or train to Ilha de Tavira just go a bit further up the coast towards Spain, where they are easier to access.

We cannot recommend this place highly enough and if you want to see 'the real Portugal' and meet it's very friendly people then put it to the top of your list.

Thank you Orlando, Armand and family we hope to see you all again one day.

Retired couple from Finland

We rented "Quinta dos Gaios" for six months (9th October 2015 - 31st March 2016). We were looking for a place in the countryside in Algarve because we had lived many winters by the seaside.. When we found Quinta dos Gaios" ,it was perfect place for us. It is located just 7 kilometers from the town of Tavira , the landscape is beautiful and safe and the house is surrounded by a citrus garden. We especially miss the taste of freshly squeezed orange juice we enjoyed in the mornings. Since we are Nordic people we appreciated the fact that the house was warm during the winter months. There is an air-source heat pump in every room but we also liked the possibility to use the wood-heated fire place in the house. It was was also possible to use the heat from the fireplace to warm up the bedrooms upstairs. We love to play golf. We played at the Benamour golf course in the fall and Castro Marim course in the spring. We can recommend both courses. What made our stay at the "Quinta dos Gaios" very pleasant and successful, were the hosts. They made us feel like family. When it was time to leave back home we were much more than tenants; we had become good friends, very good friends. Thank you for everything

Outstanding Hosts

We had the pleasure to stay at the house for six weeks from 2 June 2013 until 14 July 2013. The house was very modern, fully air-conditioned and kept to a very high standard. It overlooks a 2 ha orchard that forms part of a river valley- it is very picturesque. During our stay we are able to pick fresh oranges, figs, peaches, raspberries and pears from the orchard that are grown organically and were delicious. There is also a magnificent vegetable garden with every vegetable you can imagine. The municipal markets in Tavira also have a very good range of fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as fresh fish.

The house is approximately 10 km from Tavira, which is an easy drive. In Tavira there is a large modern shopping centre with an extremely good supermarket, as well as many other clothing, shoes and homeware shops. The house is also located 20 km from the Spanish border and is a perfect location to explore various towns in Spain including Seville and Cordoba, which we did. We also used it as a base to visit other attractions in the Algarve as well as towns in southern Alentejo. The beach at Tavira Island is very pleasant and only 10 minutes drive from the house.

Lastly, Orlando , Aramanda and their daughter Marta are the perfect hosts. You can have as much to do with them as you wish, or as little to do with them as you wish. They are extremely pleasant and generous people who treated us like family and ensured our stay was a pleasant and meaningful as possible.

We highly recommend their house and their hospitality to anybody considering renting a house in the Algarve.

FORMIDABLE

Maison très spacieuse, confortable et très bien équipée. Les propriétaires, Armanda et Orlando, sont à votre écoute et à votre service. Le lieu est magnifique, un peu à l'écart du centre ville mais d'un calme absolu.

C'est la deuxième année que nous y passons un mois complet et projetons d'y passer mars et avril en 2017. Nous recommandons cette habitation sans aucune hésitation.. Chantal et Georges

Férias de sonho

Passei umas férias de sonho nesta quinta. O espaço é paradísiaco... a casa é optima, a quinta muito bem cuidada( onde iamos colher diariamente a fruta e os legumes ), a piscina tem uma vista super relaxante....Os anfitriões são extremamente simpáticos, amáveis e muito prestaveis.Sem dúvida um local para voltar.

Enchanté

Prestations haut de gamme pour ce "gite", plutôt superbe villa, avec piscine et grand terrain avec légumes et fruits à notre disposition !!

Armanda et Orlando vous reçoivent "comme à la maison" et sont d'excellents conseils. Zone encore préservée du béton plus à l'ouest de l'Algarve, nous sommes à 10 mn de Tavira pour courses, restaurant, plages, etc.

A recommander, même pour 8 personnes très à l'aise.
