Villa Satsuma was perfect for our holiday. The house itself is very charming with all the facilities you would expect. The grounds and the pool are exceptionally well kept with grassed areas and lines of orange trees on each side of the pool.
Although we arrived very late in the evening we were met by the owner, her daughter and Gunay (housekeeper/cook) with welcome drinks and some nibbles as they showed us around the house and moved our luggage into our selected rooms. They all made us feel most welcome.
Almost immediately we made the smartest of decisions in asking Gunay to buy all the provisions for meals during our stay. Thereafter we enjoyed the most delicious of meals, both breakfast, at the front of the house under an immense olive tree, and dinner, on the terrace by the pool. I wish I could comment on the restaurants in the area but with Gunay's cooking and her wonderful personality we never had a reason to venture out to try them.
Transport to Bodrum and Bitez Beach is very easy, the dolmus stops are located about 100m from the villa and run regularly throughout the day.
In all, a perfect holiday made idyllic by our gracious and charming hosts.
We had a really excellent stay here. It was as luxurious as the description suggests. The property was clean, well-maintained and the air con was good. We had some meals cooked for us by Gunay who lives in a separate property close by - she was a very good cook and I would highly recommend her. Guler, the owner, was very helpful with transfers, arranging car hire and a side trip to Ephesus with a guide. The property description suggests a car isn't necessary which is strictly true but hiring a car enabled us to see much more of the beautiful peninsula even if you do have to drive very carefully among the crazy local motorists. I would recommend it highly and we will definitely return.
We were all delighted to have picked Villa Satsuma for our stay in Bodrum. It was the perfect place for our party of nine, who had come to Turkey from four different parts of the world for a re-union of friends. The villa is spacious and well equipped inside, with shady gardens for sitting outside, and a lovely swimming pool, all of this within stonewalls that provide privacy and quiet. The villa is nicely situated within walking distance of shops, local restaurants, and public transport into Bodrum. As stated in the promotional literature, one does not need a car when staying here. At our request Guler arranged transportation and a private guide for day trips to Ephesus, and the Miletos/Priene/Didim area. Both day trips were long, but the guides were knowledgeable and very friendly and made the days very enjoyable. We used public transport to visit point of local interest. We all enjoyed our time at Villa Satsuma, the time flew by very quickly, we are left now with many happy memories of our stay Bodrum.
Villa Durukos was the best decision we have made for our Bodrum trip!
It is conveniently located in the outskirt of Bodrum down town (10 min drive) and easy access to the nice beaches around.
Villa Durukos has a beautiful setting with huge garden and a beautiful pool where you will spend most of your day relaxing with friends and family.
We had 3 families with 6 little boys and all of us were in and out the pool from 8am til 7pm...:) unless we forced ourselves out for sight seeing tour.
Fatima (housekeeper ) and Osgun (gardener and BBQ man :)) prepared amazing meals for us with additional fees per day. It is totally worth it!! You will experience a memorable homecooked Turkish delights and fresh fish/meat grilled throughout your stay! Ozgun will show you where to get the groceries for them and what to buy...;)
By the time we had Fatima's fabulous dinner at home sitting outside in the patio, it was just too relaxing in such beautiful and romantic setting that we rarely made it out downtown for the infamous Bodrum night life!
The owner Guler and her partner and daughter Asegul were very helpful and they will go extra miles to take care of your needs and questions.
All the bedrooms in the villa were equiped with air conditioning units and well maintained. However the large Suite room in the upper level only has one AC unit in the bedroom area and not in the living room area. My family took the Suite because we have 2 of the smallest kids in the group so we thought they could sleep in the sofabed in the living area of the Suite while we could sleep in the bedroom area. Unfortunatly we were unaware of this matter and had to suffer during the hottest summer night time. For the use of a couple in this large Suite it would have had no problem though..All our friends and children in other rooms were totally happy with their rooms.
We would definatly come back to Villa Durukos in the future. And we will recommend it to our friends and relatives who are visiting Turkey.
Villa Durakos was a lovely setting for our family and friends to spend a couple of very relaxing weeks in Turkey. It is conveniently located on the outskirts of Bodrum and has been mentioned in other reviews has a very enjoyable restaurant for lunch just up the road. Having said that though we were so spoiled by Fatma's excellent cooking that we only went out three time during our stay! I would highly recommend using Fatma and her husband Osgun's services and it removes the one problem with villas which is having to clean and cook yourself. Without a doubt this significantly enhanced our stay.
We were also superbly looked after by Aysegul who is the owner's daughter and business associate. Any issues that we had she went out of her way to help with, including sourcing three rental cars when ours did not turn up (beware some online rental companies).
As a group of three families, six adults and five children, the villa easily acocmodated us all. The space combine with the pool (which the children practically lived in!) makes this an ideal venue for for families.
Overall a fantastic stay, we look forward to returning!
Villa Durukos is everything one could desire for a family holiday. The space, privacy and amenities of the villa suited our group of eight age 22 to 58. The pool is wonderful especially after a day of touring the fascinating Bodrum region.
One of the greatest assets is the couple who care for the villa. Fatma is a superb cook. She lays a beautiful table and prepares menus which use local produce in fresh interpretations of traditional menus. These were the finest meals we had on trip. Ozgun was wonderfully helpful in guiding our shopping and tending to our needs at the villa.
As wonderful as the villa is do take time to explore the Bodrum area, beaches, history, nightlife, sailing, pleasures and entertainments are everywhere.
One of the unique features of Bodrum as a holiday resort is that in addition to the active recreational opportunities available by day and the unequaled Bodrum nightlife, so many more tranquil bays, beaches and villages are available to enjoy. Top activities are:
- Visit Bodrum Castle
-Enjoy Halikarnas Disco
- Go Blue Voyage (www.durukos.com) -Visit Tuesday Market
- Visit Ephesus
- Dine at Bodrum (Fish & Raki)
- Dive in Bodrum
- Join Jeep Safari
- Join Boat Trip
Other Activities: wakeboarding
Golf: Turkey is a modern golf and vacation paradise and one that is quickly developing as an alternative to golf vacations in Western Europe. Golf is picking up momentum in Turkey. The golf resorts are largely unspoiled by mass tourism and they are eager to attract visitors. You will not find the kind of complacency and bad service that you might find in areas that have now become saturated with tourists. On the Bodrum peninsula brand new golf courses are currently being designed and built.
