We were first here in 2012 with my family, and the return was in august this year for 2 weeks. All the people around are very nice, also Valter and his family! They always care about us! We can taste their own vine, traditional italian dishes, fruit and vegetables! There are turtles in the garden, it's very entertaining too :D. The sea is about 30 minutes from the house, which is a little bit long for a big family, but we have done for our health every day this way:) Every third day we went to a bigger city nearby, or to Sarzana to the market, which was suggested by Rebecca, Valter's daughter (We are waiting you in Budapest). We were at a boat trip too, that was amazing, my favourit day! The house is big enough for 5 person, very comfortable. The sea is beautiful. We would like to thank you everything again!
Valter was an amazing host! We appreciate his hospitality - greeting us at the train station, showing us viewpoints on our way to the cottage, and providing lovely baskets of fruit, meat and bread at the cottage. His cottage not only has all of the amenities inside, but seating and beautiful garden areas outside. We truly enjoyed our stay and appreciated being able to relax at the cottage after long days of touring the villages.
We were at Valter’s holiday home for a week this May and we truly enjoyed every single day there!! The first thing we want to mention is how friendly, welcoming and kind Valter and his wife are. We arrived at 9.00 in the evening and they had a bunch of goodies waiting for us – fresh focaccia, pesto, a big basket of fruits, tomatoes, pasta and a bottle of heavenly red and white wine. Since we loved the wine so much, Valter gave us another bottle after a couple of days. He also showed us his turtles and his vegetable/fruit garden.. He truly is a very kind and friendly person!
The apartment is as amazing as it looks in the pictures!
The thing we loved the most was the terrace - it is very spacious with a big table for meals which is perfect because it is well protected in case it gets windy. But when the weather is good, one can use the remaining open-air area to enjoy the great view of the sea and surrounding nature. Another great feature is the grill which we used every alternate day (even when the weather was not that great). There is also a parking space you can use which is truly a blessing since driving into the villages of Cinque Terre is prohibited. This is one of the main reasons we picked this holiday home over an accommodation in one of the villages. The location is also very good and the views on the drive up there are spectacular. We did most of the food-shopping at La Spezia which is a 30-min drive away..
The only thing missing was a water-kettle but we used a pot for heating water,, Also, there is barely any daylight in the living room which makes it very dark during the day. So relaxing indoors was not very appealing.. But other than that everything else was great and we would definitely like to visit again!! :)
We were quite impressed with this property. While not directly in the heart of RIommagiore, it takes about 20 minutes to get there if, like us, you have had enough walking at the end of your day, a 7 minute bus ride right to your door!
The place is completely charming: gardens, views, surroundings. Loved it all. For a couple, it was perfect! Not sure that I would recommend 2 couples though as the 2nd bedroom is not closed off. Valter and his wife are perfect hosts, offering to meet us when we arrived (even offering to take us back to the village for our return trip, greeting us with a lovely basket of local goodies, and giving us a complete tour of the place. They even stock pasta and tomatoes for emergency dinners like the one we wanted after a long day of travel.
if you like to be away from it all, the tourist hustle, you won't go wrong.
My husband and I celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary in this beautiful home. We were greeted by the owners on arrival and given a quick tour of the house. We were suprised by their gifts of wine, coffee and fruit. The house was clean and well stocked with anything we needed to cook our own meals. The terraced gardens surrounding the house were beautiful with fruit trees, herbs and pots full of beautiful succulent plants of every variety and orchids. The bottom terrace contained a pen filled with turtles. The location is perfect with close proximity to paths leading to Riomaggiore and Manarola. A perfect place for those wanting to hike or just sit on the terrace and watch the sea.
If you like the pleasures of rural living (garden, fresh air, hiking out your door, stars) you will love this place. We were there in the fall, and built a fire every night with the olive wood they had cut and stacked. They gave us bottles of vine from their stash, and told us to help ourselves to the jars of preserves and the garden. It's an easy walk down into the hustle and bustle of Riomaggiore. The house is small and cozy. The only complaint was no bathtub.
At the beach, near the sea.
