|Property type||chateau / country house|
|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
A sumptuous five bedroom country house with a huge 20m pool, set amidst glorious scenery on a 50 acre estate, Casa El Castillo mixes European and Moorish styles for a house with a definite 'wow' factor. From April to November the pool invites all swimmers, from beginners to those wanting some serious exercise. In the cooler months (Sept/Oct and April/May) the pool is heated and covered to allow off-season swimming; the cover slides away during the summer months, when heating is not needed.
Relaxation and comfort are paramount: spacious rooms have individual heating/airconditioning controls, there are extensive terraces for outdoor dining and lounging, with the indoor `great room´ perfect for cosy nights in front of the fireplace or TV, or listening to some live music if there is a pianist or guitarist in the group. Bedrooms are quiet and ensuite. The house is private and secluded, with panoramic mountain views.
Walk out onto the estate for a morning's stroll, look out for deer, partridge, our horse and donkeys (retired), soaring eagles and hawks, wonderful wildflowers...
Only 3 miles from the 'white village' Gaucin, 1/2 hour to the Mediterranean coast, with easy access to Gibraltar/Malaga airports, Ronda, Marbella, and the Costa del Sol, the house is a perfect base for touring. Or just sit back, enjoy the wonderful views and the soaring birds, and unwind.
Horse riding: We can put you in touch with a stable near Casa Albanile where countryside rides can be arranged. It is best to bring your own hat and boots. Not available July and August.
Walking and Hiking: Local guides can take you off the beaten track, across the mountains and into the valleys, for wonderful views you cannot get from the road. We can put you in touch with them to make your own arrangements, depending on your ability.
Cook service, Maid Service: If you do not want to cook, or go out to restaurants, we can put you in touch with cooks who will deliver food to the house for you. They can stay and serve it as well, or just leave it for you to heat and eat.
Extra maid service can be arranged, if required.
As the caretakers, we live on the same estate, completely separate and out of sight of Casa Albanile. Without disturbing your privacy, WE ARE THERE TO MAKE YOUR HOLIDAY AS ENJOYABLE AS POSSIBLE, SHOULD YOU NEED ANY HELP OR ADVICE. We will meet you in the village to show you the way, introduce you to the house and the area, and answer any questions you may have.

The mountain views captured me from the beginning. The mountains do not shut you in, but row on row carry you across valleys for a feeling of space and light. It is so beautiful here!
My architect husband designed lofts in London and our house here in Spain reflect this. High ceilings, large rooms, comfortable spaces.
The brick and tile work in the house that echoes the arab past of this part of Spain, the huge lap pool, the wonderful views from the terraces both in front and in back of the house (it is built on a plateau with views in almost all directions). The comfortable rooms, the extra insulation that gives a cool house in summer and a warm one in winter. This house is like no other that I have seen.
Thank you for a lovely two weeks unwinding in this beautiful villa. We were a party of 7, and particularly attracted to the property by the good-sized pool and fantastic piano, both of which were in constant use!
The views were brilliant--we loved having an aperitif at the front of the house to see in the evening.
Many nice trips to Gaucin--particularly fond of El Lateral as the food was delicious! Ronda also a lovely day out--we took the train from Gaucin Station which is a great way to take in the views.
Another highlight was wine tasting at Enkvist wines, particularly as it is so local, just up the Puerto del Negro turning on the road into Gaucin.
A very memorable stay!
ps Maria is a fantastic cook and a wonderful option if you want a special meal without leaving the villa!
Two adults and an assortment of 18-24 year olds descended on Casa El Castillo for a two week holiday in September. The villa fulfilled all our expectations - clean, well decorated, spacious with ample room for the ten of us, fabulous pool (covered when we arrived) and great places to sit and enjoy an evening drink!
The beautiful pool and the glorious weather (sunny and 27'C) ensured it had plenty of use by all. Great for games including skim ball, Marco Polo and volley ball as well as the space to do some serious lengths. Everyone loved it.
The track up to the villa is quite long and winds it's way slowly up the valley. However, this adds to the wonderful feeling of privacy and makes the drive into Gaucin for great cocktails and tapas all the more enjoyable!
Namir was a kind, attentive and considerate host (he designed the villa) and always keen to ensure our stay was as enjoyable as possible. He lives not far away but never once seemed bothered by the endless music and screeching from the pool, probably because the villa is well shielded and isolated by modern day standards. Perfect!! Maria, the lady who came to clean was always pleasant and unobtrusive and worked like a Trojan.
Gaucin is quite beautiful. We recommend parking on the Gaucin road and walking into the village to enjoy the spectacular views. Take a torch for the journey home and switch it off regularly to marvel at the stunning night sky. Gaucin had all we needed in terms of provisions and has some great restaurants and tapas bars. We went to Manilva or Estepona for beach days which took about 40mins. Cadiz, Seville and Gibralter are great day trips as well as the wonderful cave art sites, preserved Roman roads and spectacular gorges, all within east reach of the villa.
We highly recommend Casa el Castillo to those who prefer something unique and 'off the beaten track'. This region is beautiful and there is much to explore - the villa is gorgeous, Namir and Linda are great people and we had the best two weeks in this wonderful, unspoilt part of Andalucia.
We stayed at this villa for two weeks in September 2014. The villa is very large,
well equipped and very clean. It is situated at the end of a dirt track (which is suitable for an ordinary car) in beautiful countryside and is not overlooked. If you like peace and quiet away from it all this is the perfect place.
We had five adults and one child in our group so only used the bedrooms on the ground floor - the 3 double bedrooms are very spacious with big en-suite bathrooms, the 2 twin bedrooms are smaller, as are the en-suites.
The large swimming pool is lovely and all one depth (about chest height) and the cover is really good if the weather turns cold.
Linda and Namir, the owners of the villa, live close by. They are a nice friendly couple who are very helpful but leave you to enjoy your holiday in peace. They have 2 adorable donkeys who like to pay the occasional visit to the villa grounds!
Gaucin is a lovey place with plenty of bars, places to eat and a couple of small supermarkets.
We would definitely recommend this villa and would happily stay there again.
This was the most spectacular and enjoyable property we have ever stayed in. We can't fault anything and after nearly two decades of family holidays this is the first property we would wish to return to. We wanted spectacular scenery and peace and were not disappointed. The tuned grand piano was a treat and as keen swimmers we made full use of the longest swimming pool we have ever rented and are much fitter in consequence.
Linda and Amir are delightful and informative hosts and as well as ensuring that our stay in the house was trouble free, came up trumps in response to some bizarre requests.
This property cannot fail to enchant you!
Casa Albanile is a delightful country villa which is actually better than in the photos. The villa is large and spacious with all the bedrooms well spaced so you do not get any noise from other bedrooms. The villa is on top of a hill with great views and you are not overlooked from any direction. It is very quite and the only noise comes from songbirds and the occasional eagle. The swimming pool is lovely and is the biggest private pool I have seen with the added benefit of a cover if the weather is a bit cool.
I highly recommend this villa for a relaxing holiday.
Thank you Linda and Amir.
We must really thank you again for our stay at Albanile. We had the most wonderful time at your Palace in the Sky and very much hope to return one day soon. We will never forget the sight of El Hacho silhouetted against the sky. The views were memorable and the house was perfect both in cold weather during the winter and in the sun. We really miss it and all the picturesque and exciting wildlife ...
With our best wishes to you both and looking forward to seeing you again soon
" I had the great pleasure of staying at Casa Albanile for two weeks last summer with my family and highly recommend it. It was fantastic!
The property itself is truly unique, a Moroccan influenced house with large rooms, open fireplaces and all beautifully furnished. There is plenty of space, so even with lots of children, you can find a quiet place if you need to. It's surroundings are magnificent too, with wild countryside and mountains, all of which are viewed from the house. It's wonderfully quiet and yet easy to reach the local town of Gaucin for restaurants and provisions and the coast is only 30 minutes away.
There is a great swimming pool and more places for children to play and explore than they will ever need!
If you need a place to relax and unwind, this is the house for you. We all loved it and will definitely return!
Casa El Castillo is a good center for touring and site seeing. The golden trio of Andalucian cities, Sevilla, Granada, and Córdoba, are all possible day trips. Or take the ferry to Tangier for the day for a real change of scene.
Ronda, with its spectacular gorge, the oldest bullring in Spain, and its echoes of Moorish and Roman times is only 45 minutes away. Marbella and Gibraltar are also within easy reach. A visit to the nearby Mediterranean and Atlantic beaches contrasts with the mountain hideaway of the finca. White villages cling to the hillsides of the quiet mountain roads, Grazalema Natural Park has spectacular mountain scenery and serious footpaths for walkers. And the peace and quiet of Casa El Castillo welcomes your return at the end of a busy day.
