Fall asleep to the sounds of a cascading waterfall and sleep like a baby. Wake up to that same wonderful sound and experience the rush of negative ions ( from moving water ) that invigorates your body mind and soul. Then if you dare dip your toes in the water, or walk the creek bed, or for the more adventurous try out the seat just behind the falls. Master bedroom has queen bed and private bath. Other 2 bedrooms share a bath. All bedrooms have satellite TV and ceiling fans. Washer and dryer provided. Bring your toothbrush and groceries then relax and get ready to play. Minutes to Nantahala Outdoor Center, Cherokee reservation, Gem mining, hiking the beautiful trails of western North Carolina, Fontana Lake, kayaking, fishing, zip lining, site seeing the great smoky mountains and blue ridge parkway. Your options are endless.
When I was 9 years old I visited my grandparents at this property. The first thing I remember is the sound of the falls and the rush of the water over the rocks in the creek. I have been enjoying this paradise ever since.
Angela Terri purchased this chateau / country house in 1986
Although my grandparents have passed my love for them and this waterfall continues to this day. It reminds me of some of the best times of my childhood playing in the creek with my siblings, going to deep creek, rafting at Nantahala, and all the other wonderful events that this area has to offer. From a women's retreat, family gatherings, holidays. Opportunities for many memorable times.
In 2008 I completely remodeled this house from cherry hardwood floors to the new metal roof. We put attention to every detail to make this home as comfortable and unique as possible. French doors that open out to the deck that over looks the waterfall, all new windows and doors, and new appliances make this a place you will want to relax, enjoy and return to again and again.
Private. Quiet. Beautiful private waterfall, masks what little traffic noise there might be. Never heard another human voice other than our family throughout our stay. Clean, quiet, well equipped. Nice layout. Good kitchen. Access road a little rough, glad to have been driving an SUV. Definitely use provided directions as MapQuest is frankly wrong. Only negative was one un-sleepable mattress which I'm assured is being replaced. Great location halfway between NOC and Bryson City. Would happily stay again!
Quiet And off the road. My daughter really enjoyed the falls and creek, my partner enjoyed being able to take her morning walk on the dirt roads behind the cabin.
Place was nice and clean,we have privacy to enjoy our stay.
This home was everything we were hoping it would be. We had no problems from beginning to end in regards to booking, finding and accessing the property. The house was clean and comfortable with everything we needed. The waterfall was beautiful and the hot tub was wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed the creek and went in it quite a bit! The location was terrific as well, close enough to Bryson City and the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad (the main reason for our trip) but far away from everything else. Our trip was fantastic and we would love to return for another "adventure" sometime in the future. Thanks so much for sharing!
Clean but harmless outside bugs were common inside the house. An air conditioner is needed in the second upstairs bedroom. A decent size skillet is needed in the kitchen. Internet service is no better than the old 'dial up' type.
Owner is responsive and keeps the house and equipment well maintained.
After reading many reviews on this home, we sent a message and decided to book with Angela. Much to our joy, the home was available the week we were planning to visit Bryson City! First, she is QUICK to reply to messages and very friendly. I loved that she answered me right away and accepted our booking immediately as I had included that it would be our family vacay. I was taken with her details of growing up here in her description as family is very important to us as well.
We arrived to a very clean property & home. The pics just don't do this place justice!! We were thrilled to find that there was dish soap and hand soaps out so that we did not have to dig through our bags to immediately locate those. :) The weather was beautiful every single day and we were thrilled to enjoy some time on the deck and enjoy the falls and I was able to capture some great shots here as well!! We easily fell asleep to the sound of the falls while just relaxing.
I did read from others that they had no phone service, we all did. I have Verizon and our adult children have another carrier and they both had service in the home. The best place was the side of the home facing the road but we were able to use our phones at the home and inside, I'm not sure if this is due to a new tower or perhaps better signals?! Just wanted to mention this as it was mentioned in several reviews so I checked while there. I was able to send texts and email on my phone as well.
All of the bedrooms are on the second floor, however that is a plus for most people as traveling can be a bit unsettling for smaller children. This was not a problem for us, but I can assure you that there is plenty of room downstairs for an air mattress for anyone who can't go up and down easily, but the showers are all upstairs.
The hot tub is really clean and you can see the falls and the fire pit from where it is located. The grill is clean and conveniently located as well. The kitchen had pretty much everything we needed.
I could go on and on, but I would encourage you to price a hotel in Bryson City.... Trust me, this home is actually cheaper!! We rented a hotel for one night and it costed more for that one night for one room than this three bedroom home.
Our family was able to enjoy a fun filled train ride, lake day, white water rafting, and many other local activities thanks to the location of her home!! Thank you for making our first stay with VRBO a good one!
