About the property

Perfect 2 story for 1 or two couples with privacy for both.

50 meters from the beach with a short walk through the courtyard to the patio where you can lounge in the sun or take a dip in the pool or just get into the beautiful gulf and soak in the salt water. The pelicans love taking a dip in the water and catching their food and then sometimes they just hang out.

There is so much to do or there is so little to do. It all depends on what you like.

My brother loves getting up in the morning and going along the shore to catch star fish. They are everywhere.

About Tim and Kelly King

This cover photo is of a puppy that was on the property when we first came to visit. There were 10 puppies on the property and they were so cute. It was hard not to want to take them in. We fell in love with the whole area of Chelem including Progreso and Merida. The people are so kind in this area. They truly mean well and want to help with everything. We feel like we have found a piece of paradise.

Tim and Kelly King purchased this house in 2013

Why Tim and Kelly King chose Yucatan

We bought this property because we were looking for a place to retire and we felt like this was the perfect spot, not too close to the cruise ship activity but still close enough to go and have dinner in Progreso. We are very excited to immerse ourselves into the culture.

What makes this house unique

This two story offers privacy with the upstairs. The upstairs is basically a unit by itself. The breeze off of the ocean is unbelievable and the second story offers great views.

A tropical escape to paradise....

  • 5 of 5

My sister and I chose to stay here to celebrate our birthdays. Merida, Chelem, Progresso were small towns with friendly people. We used the local transportation on several occasions since we chose not to rent a car. There were several restaurants and little stores within walking distance (about a mile). We visited the Gran Museum in Merida, the mall and the Costco parking lot Cenote. If you are truly looking to escape and reset to a simple way of life this is the perfect place. We decided not to venture into any busy populated places because we wanted to spend the time just relaxing in the sun and away from the hustle and bustle. The property managers Martie and Veronica were very helpful and friendly. The property owner (Kelly) was friendly and always promptly replied to my questions.

Fantastic home to rest your Mind, Body and Soul!

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough good things about this property and the owners Kelly and Tim!

We booked a post holiday trip to "rest or mind, body and soul" and enjoy all that the Yucatán has to offer. We arrived late and Martie (the property manager) was onsite waiting for us with keys, instructions and a tour of the property. Late and hungry Martie took it upon herself to take us to a local restaurant, the Bull Pen" and sweet talked the owners to open the kitchen and feed her new friends.

Tim and Kelly have thought of everything when furnishing their home for the comfort of their guest. Fully stocked kitchens with nice appliances you can actually cook on, spices, bath towels, wash clothes, linens and even shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. The beds and pillows are comfortable, so much so that we ordered the same pillows for our own bed when we came home.

Their staff was extremely nice, curtious and quick to react to anything you may need.

The grounds and house are meticulously maintained and the pictures are exactly what you get.

Fantastic house (owners and staff) in a sleepy little fishing village where you can use as a home base to explore the region or just stay in and relax at your HomeAway, but even better!

Very relaxing

  • 5 of 5

The area is very safe, I would have loved to have been in front of the beach, but overall everything you needed in a house it had it! Kelly, Veronica and Martie available when needed, it's a very small town to get away and just relax, we had friends over and they loved it as well, my only wish list for this Home is a Tv in the downstairs bedroom and a bigger TV in the living room 😉򒐠Thank you for sharing your Home we hope to come back one day!

A dream vacation home

  • 5 of 5

We loved our time at Brisa Marina, stayed 4 adults and 2 kids under 7. The house has everything you need, it is clean, spacious, comfortable, very well kept, it made us feel at home. It was our very first experience renting a home and Brisa Marina and Kelly have set the bar really high and we cannot wait to go back. The house is equipped with everything you will need: pots and pans, dishes, cups, coffee maker, utensils, washer, dishwasher, AC, wifi, Netflix, grill, etc. The second floor room is more like a suite, very spacious with a fridge and small kitchen area, bathroom and large closet, with a balcony that has a gorgeous view. The downstairs has the kitchen, eating area, bathroom, bedroom and living room that turns into a sleeping space. The beds are SO comfortable, the house is well lit and the breeze from the ocean makes it amazing. The palapa outside was a main spot for breakfast, coffee, dinner, games etc it provides a large amount of shade to be comfortable while watching the kids in the pool. The beach area is beautiful and clean. It feels very private and we loved that. We rented a car in Merida and it was very easy to get to Chelem (30-40 minute drive) and find the house, there is an area for parking enough to fit 2 cars inside the property. Chelem is a beautiful town, with close access to many great spots. We visited Dzibichaltun (ruins), El Corchito (Manglar) and Progreso Beach all within 30 minutes from the house or less. Enjoyed meals at La Playita, near Brisa Marina, Eladios in Progreso and Frailes in Conkal (by Dzibichaltun-this was for me the best food I had this trip, very authentic and high quality). The area is so relaxing, and peaceful, we always felt safe. The property managers in Chelem were very helfpul and prompt in their responses. Kelly was great to communicate with, before, during and after the trip, she was quick to respond and just a pleasure to deal with. We definitely recommend Brisa Marina and Kelly to anyone looking for a dream vacation home. Thank you Kelly!

Like home only better!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Brisa Marina. Kelly thinks of every detail. She supplied the house with everything we needed right down to shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom, lots of dishes, pots and pans and utensils as well as spices and olive oil for the kitchen-all you need to do is arrive and enjoy. The house is spacious and comfortable, super comfy firm bed, clean new bathrooms with hot showers (I'm picky about bathrooms and they met my high standards!), television with lots of channels, consistent wifi, gas grill outside -I could go on forever. With the windows open the big second floor room catches a beautiful breeze in the evenings, we rarely turned on the a/c. The outdoor space is also amazing, we loved the second floor balcony -the view of the ocean was beautiful -great place to sit and read. The pool area is lovely as well and was much appreciated as we walked the beach to Chelem almost every day and jumped in the pool to cool off after! The caretaker and his family live on the property-they are wonderful and were quick to respond when we had questions or needed something. The area feels really safe-we were comfortable walking into town or in Progresso both day and night but the house is also designed for security which put my mind at ease when we were away for long periods of time. We didn't have a car and didn't feel we needed one-the collectivo bus goes by the house regularly and for a few pesos you can get to Progresso to shop or explore or go the other way to Chelem or Chuburna. Merida is also accessable by collectivo-it takes a bit over an hour. Another bonus- Kelly also arranged for us to be picked up at the airport for a reasonable price which was very helpful and gave us a chance to stock up on groceries and servesa. This rental allowed us a true worry free break-Thanks so much Kelly, we hope to come back some day.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Heather. It is always pleasant to hear such wonderful things from a renter. We hope you can come back again soon. We always strive to supply things in a rental that we would want when we stay at a rental. Chelem is such a truly wonderful diamond in the rough. We love it here and always hope others feel the same. Thanks again Kelly and Tm

The town of Cuzama is known for the large number of cenotes found there. Especially unique is a tour that you can do in this area where you will visit three cenotes. If you go to the hacienda in Cuzama, you can hire a guide who will put you on a platform buggy pulled by horses along interesting paths through the surrounding countryside. The main cenotes are: Chelentun (laying down rock), Chansinic'che (tree with small ants) and Bolochoojol (nine drops of water). The Chelentun Cenote has incredibly blue and clear water, with excellent visibility. Stalactite and stalagmite formations add to its unique beauty. There is such beauty in the Cenotes.
