|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Relax in our one bedroom suite that's located in the middle of the Piscataway National Park. Wake up to the sound of birds, chickens and the distant mooing of cows.
Even though we are located in the middle of Piscataway National Park, we are only 30 minutes from the beltway and 45 minutes to Washington DC. There are lots of local things to do depending on the time of year. There is kayaking, biking, hiking, The National Colonial Farm, weekend plays at the local amphitheater and playhouses. Just ask us!
Access to the room is through the garage. A garage door opener will be given to you. The space is in a finished daylight basement.
Guests have access to a microwave, refrigerator, tv with cable, wireless internet and the pellet stove.
The guest bedroom has two twin beds that can be joined together to make a comfortable king size bed. Let Elaine know which set up you prefer.
We have two friendly cats that will either be your best friend or scatter when they see you.
The shower in the bathroom is a normal size. Not tiny or huge.
Complimentary breakfast items are ready for you in the refrigerator. There are bagels, cream cheese, milk, juice and cereals for you as well as coffee and tea.
Elaine is always on the go but can be reached via her cell phone.
There is over an acre between the homes. All you hear are the birds, cows mooing and our chickens. This is a great place to walk. We are 3 miles walking distance to the Potomac River and the Colonial Farm. On Saturdays there is an organic market nearby.
A car is necessary to get around. There is bus service to Metro nearby.
Guests can park their car in our round about driveway after unloading their luggage or in the garage.
Our life motto is treat others like you would like to be treated. Go the extra mile and give back 150%. We both enjoy relaxing by the firepit when weather allows or in front of the fire with a good book. Elaine enjoys cooking, shopping at the local farmers markets and wine tasting. Paul enjoys running, biking and attending wine tastings with Elaine. We both are frequent attendees at the local theater productions. Our favorite travel destinations are Saint Marten, Jamaica, Saint Barts and Rehoboth Beach, DE. We love the sand and sea.
Even though Paul and I are new to this and we have been hosting friends and family for over 35 years. While in the Air Force we were stationed around the world and had visitors come and enjoy our locations. Paul and I like to give our guests complete privacy but at the same time be available for questions and suggestions.
Elaine McVinney purchased this house in 2003
We found our home while not even looking for a new place. Our children flew the nest so we only had us to consider. Elaine found an ad for this house and we decided to check it out. We immediately fell in love with the home. It was new and never lived in. The owners had some family challenges and had to sell before moving in. The first thing that attracted us was the peaceful surroundings. It is truly a special property. The sound of the birds and of the rustling leaves will help you find a new peace.
Our home has a wrap around deck. We placed seating around the deck so you can enjoy any view of the forest. Toward dusk owls make their appearance that can be enjoyed on the deck on the left side. You can view the deer on the front of the house and different species of birds in the back. View and hear the turkeys from the left side of the deck. There is also the occasional fox, raccoons and possums.
In the evening when the weather allows we invite our guests and neighbors to enjoy the fire pit in front of our home while sipping our house favorite drink...Grog.
I rented this property for my son and wife while visiting MD. They enjoyed it. I was not aware it did not have a stove, but neither do hotels, and there are many options for restaurants just minutes away. Nestled in the woods, nice cozy fire place, very clean, safe and close to many attractions. The owners were very friendly and hospitable offering Tea, Coffee and breakfast foods. I would definitely visit again and recommend it to my friends and family. Thank You;)
Snacks provided and separate entrance made it very convienient. Beautiful area!
The property is located at the end of the smoothest gravel road I have ever seen. You are only about fifteen minutes from the end of the METRO line but you feel like you are in the center of the forest. Actually you are in a forest. Sit out side and enjoy the serenity of the forest and listen to nature. Everything you need is in the apartment. There is no stove however but that was fine. The host provided bagels, juice, milk, cereal, apples and bananas etc... Within a five or ten minutes you can find basically any type of restaurant you need or could want. You have a large screen TV, fire place, king size bed. private bath, you park inside the garage, what more could you ask for.
Loved everything about this place. Clean, remote location, super nice owners, and not too far at all from DC. I can't stress enough how nice and thoughtful the owners were! Will be back!
Relaxing and quiet. The living area very roomy and clean. Beautiful outdoors, wooded, private, yet lots to do. Wonderful owners, always willing to help out or supply what you need.
We had a wonderful time this weekend. We stayed here to be close to the city but still enjoy nature. The room was very spacious and clean. Beautiful view from the French doors. Definitely wooded bliss! Elaine was very sweet. Hospitality was something you often don't see anymore. Made us feel right at home. Would recommend to anyone wanting some peace and quiet.
