Main House

This is a large, spacious and comfortable family home set over 4 floors (basement, ground, first and second) with full laundry facilities and a large family games/sitting room in the basement.

There are two double bedrooms, one twin bedroom (which can be made up as a double) one fabulous large quad bedroom. We also have a big sofabed in the ground floor sitting room as well as a double sofabed in the family room.

There was an extensive refurbishment and remodelling programme for the 2009/10 ski season onwards, including installation of a SAUNA, a new luxury family bathroom with separate walk-in shower, a new separate WC and a fully equipped ski store with heating for clothes drying and a hot air boot drying system.

The 2016 project has improved the ski access arrangements, provided our new family games room (with a 7' pool table) and we have replaced the heating/hot-water system, finally moving to gas!

There is wifi with Free Unlimited Internet service in the house and flat.

About the property

Dorf 30

Half timber traditional Tirolean family home, originally built c. 1730-1750 - the 30th house in the village - and was the local carpenter's home. Dorf30 nestles in a beautiful setting just a very short stroll from the village centre (1 minute!) and the ski lifts (5 minutes max in boots!). There is a lovely garden, great views and a very warm atmosphere.

The house has been the subject of a sympathetic restoration and ongoing renovation programme over the last few years. In 2005 we upgraded the heating and insulation and then in 2009 we built a new beautiful luxury family bathroom upstairs, installed a SAUNA and a ski drying/store room. Autumn 2016 has seen a major external renovation and internal improvement project, with extensive improvements throughout, including the addition of a new family games room in the cellar. Pictures will be updated as soon as they can be.

The separate One Bedroom Garden Flat sleeps up to 5 people, was totally refurbished in 2005 and is appointed to a very high standard with wooden floors, modern kitchen, luxury bathroom with underfloor heating. The flat can be booked together with the house for larger parties and there is a lockable internal door between the two units for easy access.

We offer FREE Unlimited Internet Access.

Winter - Skiing: The house is just a short stroll from the first lift of the Ski Welt system - about 100 lifts and 250km skiing. It is literally across the road and past the small local car park. For most of the season you can ski right back to the house.

Summer: Going is a summer activity paradise! Within a short walk, cycle or drive from the house there are many different swimming pools and lakes, hiking trails, cycleways, off-road mountain bike routes, golf, horse riding, fishing, paragliding, canyoning, kayaking, children's activity parks, summer sledging and tennis.

Why Joe Robinson chose Wilder Kaiser-Brixental

I first visited Austria in 1982 and fell in love with the country. I discovered Going in 1989, specifically visiting this very property, as it was owned by the family of my oldest school friend (who still lives in the village and helps out when needed). I have always loved the house and the unique and calm atmosphere. I had the opportunity to buy it in 2000 and have spent the time since gradually renovating and improving it. This is our family's true home, we just can't live here because work and education keeps us all in England. We really hope that you enjoy being at 'Dorf30' as much as we do.

What makes this chalet unique

I think that this is the most perfect location in the Tyrollean alps! Walk out of the front door in summer and you have a million miles of perfect walks and bike rides, whilst in winter you have 250kms of fabulous skiing that starts just across the road. The best restaurants in the area are a 2 minute walk away and the village is beautiful, unspoilt and very traditional - and likely to stay so as there is such a strong community spirit here that keeps Going special. Right behind the house there are the most incredibly beautiful mountains anywhere - the Wilder Kaiser range is just breathtaking.

For all stays there is an additional charge of €25,00 (PER GUEST, per stay), payable locally in cash at the end of your holiday. This charge contributes towards cleaning, laundry and change-over.

Notes:
The washing facilities (2 x washers, 2 x dryers) are located in the cellar and there is a warm drying room. There is a second fridge and a freezer in the ground floor pantry. Ski room was upgraded in 2009 and features heated drying areas for ski kit, and a (custom-fit-boot safe) warm air boot drying/airing system.

Going is a beautiful and unspoilt village, nestled underneath a breathtaking mountain range - the Wilden Kaiser. It is a peaceful, picturesque and tranquil village with a few bars and some very good restaurants. Nearby Ellmau provides the party atmosphere if required and Kitzbuhel and St Johann are just a 10 minute drive away.

Golf: There are at least 14 golf courses within 1 hours drive of the house. The nearest is in Ellmau, which includes a driving range, walkable from the house or a 2 minute drive.

Ski: Ski Welt is Austria's largest inter-linked ski area, which includes Going, Ellmau, Soll, Itter, Westendorf & Brixen. Over 250km of skiing and 100 lifts. Most of the area is well served by cannon for artificial snow coverage and it all starts right across the road from our house! You would be hard pressed to find a better ski house location in this area.

Serious ski-safari folk can also get a lift pass to include the whole Kitzbuhel ski region as well, accessible by car, bus or interlinked ski-lift.
