Bob and I (Peg) are a clean, neat, professional, energetic, fun loving couple who enjoy hiking high peaks, traveling and meeting new friends. We do not watch TV on a regular basis. We prefer pursing our passions - which include all sorts of travel, adventure and exploring new areas. We benefit from sitting on our deck with a drink in the Summer; fireplace inside for the Winter.
Bob owns his own business, The Opportunity Group. He's an Organizational Coach, where he transforms Managers into Leaders. He also writes romance/mystery novels [samples at the townhouse]. Peg is in charge of Stakeholder Services at the Opportunity Group, and volunteers at the local hospice.
For readers, you may find it interesting to note that much of Bob's Fantasy/Romance novel; JOURNEY, The Love Story of the Century, Part II was written in the cabin. Pictures of the trail from the cabin also appear in Part II. When you sit by the campfire, you will be sharing the same view that inspired some pretty interesting stories. The books may be found on Amazon. To find the books, Google 'Catlan Samuels Journey' (that is Bob's pen name). Part III of the trilogy is under way.
The Owner purchased this cabin in 2010
We very much enjoy the woods and getting off the grid as much as our busy schedules will allow.
When we are not there, we love to share the cabin with guests, who have a passion for peacefulness, birds, woods and nature.
Even though you are 20 minutes away from most anything, yet you feel like you are in the middle of no where.
Inside the cabin, being surrounded by knotty pine, is almost like camping outside with the luxury of a hot shower at your fingertips.
The easy forest trails allow for a casual back to nature experience, or for the more experienced hiker, the 5 mile hike around the block might suit your needs.
This is a place for ultimate privacy, whether you are a group of family members or friends, or a couple seeking a romantic get away. Most of the sounds you hear are non-human.
My mom, sister, aunt, grandma, and I stayed here for three nights and had an absolutely wonderful time. The cabin was very clean and cozy and contained everything we needed, from forgotten toiletries to cooking utensils, magazines to flip through, movies and games. There was plenty of room for all of us.
We also brought quilting projects and the kitchen island made a perfect crafting station. With five cooks in the kitchen, all the counter space was good too! It was much better stocked than other rentals I've visited. We weren't lacking any dishes, pots, baking dishes, etc., and it was all in good, clean condition. Kudos for recycling!
We walked through the trails around the cabin (fun!) and visited the spiritual center. We made a huge fire in the fire circle and were glad to have the cozy coasters as well as the tables out there for our food and cooking supplies.
Our trip was mid-October and the fall foliage was spectacular. We went to Letchworth State Park and came back to do more walking down the dirt road. We didn't make it around the full 5-mile block. ;-) The weather was perfect so we kept the heat low inside the cabin and even turned on the ceiling fan to circulate air in the loft. My aunt and grandma shared the bedroom and my mom, sis, and I took the loft. We were all very comfortable and again, had plenty of room to unpack and unwind all weekend.
All in all, this cabin received five stars from all five in our party. What a great place to spend time with family.
We couldn't have asked for a better stay. The cabin and its surrounding space is immaculate. A perfect, private place to get away and relax, yet close enough to all the sights you wish to visit.
The owners give much attention to detail, with clear instructions and friendly communication. There are lots of extras with the owners sharing their DVD's, card games, and kitchen condiments. Basically we were encouraged to use anything we found in the cupboards. We were just asked to replace or leave a note for anything we used up.
The loft space was great for our teenagers with a TV of their own. The bathroom is large, the beds comfortable, and the entire cabin is tastefully decorated and cozy.
We had everything we needed and more. In fact, the second day, our kids begged us to cancel our outing so they could stay and enjoy the trails in the woods, out door games, fire pit, and swing.
The place was beautiful and clean and owners were responsive and their instructions were very clear. Highly recommended. This place does not get reception well, so if you want time away from internet and actually spend time together with your friends/family/significant other instead being on the phone, this is a place to be.
Immaculate I've rentrd cabins before on home away and though nice everything was outdated. This place was beautiful and cozy just like the description. My family and I would definitely stay here again. Anyone looking at visiting Letchworth State Park or the Finger Lakes region of New York would be wise to put this cabin on their must stay list
Family of 6 stayed for 5 days and was very comfortable. Spent a lot of time outdoors . Visiting Letchworth and surrounding parks was beautiful. We used to camp a lot in this area but really enjoyed the comforts of home in this cabin. The owners go above and beyond to make it home like and stocks the house with everything you could possibly need.
This was a perfect choice for us. The property is set back from the street, and the woods surround the house. Trails offer exploration and are well marked. The cabin's bear theme is tastefully evident throughout. Instead of feeling clobbered by it, I found myself looking for the little bears. The kitchen had everything we needed. The night sky was free of any light pollution and just astounding, and we enjoyed a fire at the fire pit. In addition to having a fabulous home base, we loved Letchworth State Park. We would love to return and take a day trip to Niagara Falls. Even though I didn't meet the owners or the caretaker I felt very well taken care of, and I had contact info for everyone. A lovely, relaxing, peaceful weekend. There was no WiFi, and my 17 year old son not only survived but hated to leave!
