I couldn't have imagined what an incredible business experience this has been for a young lady. Letting her convert a few of our apartments into short-term rentals has given her first-hand business experiences that babysitting just doesn't cover!!
Scott H. Thompson purchased this house in 1979
An old friend owns this house; she's living in Evanston, IL for the next few years. I'm helping her out. I live a few blocks away. Happy to give you a reference to another tenant in the house if you wish to confirm.
How civilized is it to walk 2 blocks for great sushi, the Brick Store Pub, Eddie's attic, or Ted's Montana Grill?
Late check-ins are never a problem since we'll assign you a door code, and you don't need to meet for your 'key".
We really want to maintain our flexible policy on check-in and check-out times. Here is my promise: I will do everything I can to accommodate your times if you can be patient for the guarantee. I've got to check with others to make sure it works... If you MUST check-in at 6am AND you need to know that when you make the reservation, you'd better book the previous night, because someone else might. I can't insist they leave at 5am (but I will ask them!!! cause sometimes they are catching a flight...) Early check-in and late checkout depend on both your requests and the preceding/ following guests', then me negotiating something reasonable. If the night before you is not booked (and we won't know until that afternoon!) we'd normally be happy for you to check-in at 8am... If you want to check out at 5pm and no one is coming that night, no problem!! We'll see as we get closer. But, we do have a space where you can store bags. Otherwise, here is what the HOUSE MANUAL (in your Itinerary) will say-- Check-in will be anytime after 3 pm and Check-out will be anytime before 11am UNLESS YOU REQUEST flexibility with some notice.
Just as described, very clean, cozy and conveniently walkable to Decatur Square. Scott was very helpful and responded quickly. We'd definitely recommend it!!
Simple ground floor apt. in a pretty tree filled neighborhood.
Comfortable and in a very central location.
The kitchen has all you need and there is ample space.
It is a great value. If I will need to stay there again, it will certainly be high on my consideration list.
This was our second time staying at one of Scott's places, and we were not disappointed! Scott was welcoming and kind and helped us out with anything we needed. The place is great and comfortable and a very close walking distance to restaurants, grocery stores and a train station. There was everything we needed, from towels and linens to an equipped kitchen and a tv which we could connect our phone to. We would definitely stay with Scott again if we have the chance to return to Atlanta!
This is a tough review to write. The arrival info was stellar. Good info and thorough. When we were on our way there we got a text from Scott that he had a new cleaning crew and to let him know how was there... I said no problem. He has involved his freshman daughter to learn the business which appealed to us. That is one of the reasons we wanted to rent this place. It is in a great location for the Decatur area. We found it and got in no problem... until we walked in there was a used moldy smelling sponge in the sink area with no new one below, tile floor through out and it wasn't clean or swept up, the kitchen table needed to be cleaned, The fridge needs to be wiped out and the ice container in the freezer wasn't cleaned...so I cleaned that. the fridge also needs to have the legs on it balanced... It moved when you opened the door. Then we went into the bedroom and the bed sheets were not clean. hair on the sheets (she was a brunette) It smelled moldy in the apartment as well. there was Lysol under the sink so that helped the apartment. The bathroom was very dated but fairly clean. I just felt that I should not have to clean the place myself.
I texted Scott and then my husband and I sat there and had a glass of wine muling over what to do. We decided to leave after about 50 minutes and not hearing from him. We are past the age where an apartment with a "college feel to it" suits us. So when I texted him and told him we were leaving we did get a call from him a bit later. He had been in a meeting and wanted to come over and sweep and change out the sponge and sheets...but we had made alternate arrangements. It was just under an hour when we heard from him but It is tough to sit when you are on vacation and wonder if you are going to get help or not. I also think sitting there watching him clean the whole place would have not been fun. In the meantime we have received our deposit back but I emailed Scott and asked that we get at least one of 2 nights rent back but to date haven't heard. I thought that was fair but apparently it is being thought about at this point. Very small apartment with very old furniture in a great location. The furniture reminded us of the stuff we had when we were in college and we used to cover it all with blankets to be able to sit on them comfortably. The one star was for the cleanliness, otherwise arrival info was great...lots of potential with this apartment but we just hit it at a bad time I guess
