Our property, Ardendales, is a beautifully renovated home with the charm of the early 1900's and all the modern conveniences. Situated in historic downtown Brooksville within walking distance of restaurants, tennis courts, shopping and city park, our beautiful one acre property is on a quiet residential brick street. With five bedrooms and four baths and 3800 sf it sleeps 14 comfortably. It has a parlor, library, very large living room with built-in window daybeds, dining room that seats 18, a butler's pantry, a large kitchen, and an extra suite with a separate entrance with microwave and mini-fridge downstairs. Out back is a 6 burner grill on a large terraced deck next to a comfortably furnished screened room. We've added 1/4 mi of walking paths for a quiet walk through the wooded peaceful 1/2 acre behind the house - a great place to do some bird watching or just relax in the screened room tucked away in the middle of the woods. Equipped with all the conveniences of home you can make this your base while taking day trips to enjoy the surrounding Nature Coast sights, the theme parks in central FL, local beaches, Tampa/St Petersburg's entertainment and dining, etc. Great for family reunions or vacations, out-of-town wedding guests, vacation rental, festival weekends.
The Ardendales retreat house was absolutely perfect for our group. It is very clean and cosy with all the amenities you need but feels like you are removed from the fast paced world. There was plenty of space for us to gather together, as well as, enough space for everyone to find some solitude. The grounds were beautiful and serene and we especially enjoyed the screened in sitting area in the back garden. It was a pleasure working with the owners and they even helped us find caterers for our event. I would highly recommend Ardendales and we will definitely return.
(Owner's Note: This meditation retreat group has already booked with us for the fall.)
Our family recently gathered in Brooksville to celebrate the life our mother. Twelve of us stayed at Ardendales and felt like we had arrived at the Big Chill House. It is so inviting, so well situated and spacious with many areas to be together or to have private moments. It is tastefully decorated, well appointed, comfortable and also was wheelchair accessible. Many of us also enjoyed walking around the property, spending time in the Bird House and gathering most mornings in the Florida Room for quiet conversations. Ardendales certainly made this bittersweet time so much easier and more memorable for our family.
Stayed here with another family while in the area for a lacrosse tournament for our high school sons. The house was an absolute gem, perfect for our needs and went well beyond what we had anticipated. We all loved the personality of the house and the surrounding neighborhood. There was plenty of room both in terms of the bedrooms and the rest of the home. The kitchen was extremely well appointed - we ended up cooking at the house three nights and were not short on any cooking utensils, cooking staples, etc.
The outside suite was perfect for our setup, as we had two older boys in our group that utilized that room and they had their own space while still staying with all of us in the house.
I would certainly recommend this property for anyone looking for a place in the general area as a base or as a destination. Shanta was very easy to work with and made the whole reservation process a breeze. Everything was exactly as it was presented, house was extremely clean and she made sure everything was available to us whenever we needed or asked.
Will definitely use this home again if we find ourselves in the area again in the future.
The most difficult part of staying in Ardendales was leaving!!!
It was so peaceful and the perfect location for my youngest daughter's bridal week! Everyone loved it!!!! Our photographer took many pictures which will be featured in one of the 2016 issues of Knot magazine .This house will be mentioned as wonderful housing for bridal parties. We loved it and hope to come back some day for a family reunion!
very nice home. plenty of room for 12 men. appreciated the snacks and cheese.. plenty of beds, sheets, pillows etc. loved the screened in room at rear. allowed us to stay together and have a few drinks together and relax. numerous hockey fans were allowed to watch Chicago Blackhawks games. Best home we have rented in 10 years of Florida golf trips.
Looking forward to our return next year.
My family and I came to Brooksville for a wedding and were looking for the perfect place to stay so we could all be together. Not such an easy feat when you have people arriving from three different states by various modes of transportation. However, we found just that perfect place in Ardendales! Being located in the heart of downtown Brooksville made it easily accessible to everything we needed and everywhere we wanted to be. The house is beautiful, clean, more than well equipped, and large enough to host a big group; like we did for Easter dinner (25, I think). The property had several differernt/intimate outdoor sitting areas and we thoroughly enjoyed the screened porches too! The owners are warm and welcoming and made themselves at our disposal in the event we needed them for anything; which we didn't. Communication was clear and all arrangements were as smooth as could be.
We truly hope to return to Brooksville some day and won't consider staying anywhere else unless Ardendales is unavailable and, if that's the case, we'd probably have to change the dates of our visit just so we could return. Do yourself and your family a favor - stay at Ardendales and ENJOY as much as we did.
We had a family wedding on Saturday and since there were eight of us travelling from NY and then picking up my husband's 90 year old Mom on the way we wanted a house to rent and not have to stay in hotel. This house was PERFECT!! We had so much room to spread out and yet the living room was so huge we could sit around and talk together as well. Everything was provided and the grounds are stunning. Sunday was so beautiful sitting out in the sun. Shanta is such a great person to deal with and made the booking process seamless. Also our nephew who uses a wheel chair had no problem riding up the ramp to the front door and visiting with us. Hope we get a chance to visit again!
Trips to Weeki Wachee, Pine Island Beach, the many biking paths, nature preserves and woodlands are just a few of the beautiful and serene options in the local area.
Golfers will love staying here and enjoying the golfing at World Woods Golf - just 10 miles away.
For a little longer drive, you can take a day trip to famous Ybor Square in Tampa and have a meal at the famous Columbia restaurant, visit the Clearwater Marina that houses the dolphins Winter and Hope, relax on Clearwater beach, visit the downtown St Petersburg area of charming cafes, and shops and bayfront parks. Heading east, it is just a day trip to Orlando and the many theme parks there, including the Disney theme parks and SeaWorld.
Cycling enthusiasts will enjoy the many terrific biking trails the area has to offer, including the lengthy Withalacoochee bike trail.
Birders can enjoy many small and larger parks and nature preserves with lakes or beach front to spot the wide variety of birds in this area. We have our own great birding spot in the 1/2 acre of woods behind the house with a screened room for viewing them or just relaxing with a morning coffee or evening drink.
