About Patricia Wolf

The heart of the farm and adjacent to the Gambier Loft is the Gothic farm house, a historic, solid brick and stone gem. The home was built in 1872 by the Smith family, lovingly restored over the past 10 years by the Wolf family and is still a work in progress. It features original Victorian moldings, high ceilings, reclaimed barn wood floors and front and back porches. Adorning the house and the Gambier Loft are colorful perennial gardens. The spring house was the home’s original “summer kitchen” and features a historic root cellar, the refrigeration for the farm in the 1800’s. There are two other hand- hewn, post and beam structures on the property other than the Gambier Loft. One is the original chicken house and the other is the large bank barn.

The Farm has panoramic views of rolling hills, woods, streams, spring-fed ponds, cattle and an abundance of wildlife. One might see deer, turkeys, foxes, coyotes, bald eagles, hawks and unusual water fowl in the spring.

Why Patricia Wolf chose Ohio

Just down the road from the Gambier Loft, is the Kokosing River, a state scenic river. Its clear waters are great for kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and swimming. The Kokosing Gap Bike Trail follows the river and is known for its picturesque rural views. The Farm sits between two historic churches and is only 3 miles from charming Gambier, Ohio and Kenyon College. It is about 5 miles from Mount Vernon, Ohio and Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Holmes County and the heart of Amish country is 45 minutes to the north and the Columbus, Ohio is 45 minutes to the south.

We stayed 1 night and Patrica went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. I really enjoyed just "looking" at the renovation to the loft. It was exactly what we had hoped for.

Long Weekend in Gambier

  • 5 of 5

My wife and children and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Gambier Loft, and everything about our stay was fantastic. The Gambier Loft is situated in a spectacular location with views in every direction. The lodging was incredibly comfortable and the hospitality was as good as it gets. Patricia and Alan are kind, thoughtful, and generous, and they made us feel welcome throughout our stay. The home is a fascinating blend of old and new with a beautiful antique barn structure renovated into a new and modern home. The old beams are visible throughout, giving the place a historic feel, but the outside and inside are all wonderfully finished with a modern, country feel. I can't say enough good things about this place, and it certainly is a place we will return to again - every time we come to visit Kenyon. Highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a peaceful retreat in the heart of beautiful farm country. Especially well located for people visiting Kenyon College as it is just a couple miles away from the campus.

Beautiful spot for our anniversary getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our time at Gambier Loft. It was a lovely place to spend our 27th Anniversary. There were many personal touches and thoughtful additions that made our stay wonderful....the delicious pastries, luxurious linens and fresh flowers to name a few. We would recommend it as a great place to stay for any occasion! Mark & Lois Myer

Like a postcard

  • 5 of 5

The moment we pulled to the property we were in awe of the surroundings. The loft itself, just from the outside made us excited for our stay. With beautiful landscape and a wonderful charm that cannot be ignored we were anxious to see what still was unseen. Patricia greeted us upon arrival with a wonderful smile and a friendly spirit. She showed us into the loft which was perfect from the floor to the ceiling. Every inch was decorated perfectly and appeared to be thought out. Pastries sat on a table in a dish reminding me of something that is seen in a bakery. The setting called to be sat at with a coffee. The kitchen was impeccably clean and charming. A Keurig could be seen and made me excited for the morning so I can visit the table with the pastry. We then were shown into the living area which had a large dining table to the left to sit from what I can recall four people. The table was decorated with perfectly placed flowers. One in each little vase, only adding to the wonderful character of the space. Just behind the table was two twin beds with bedding that begged to be slept in. To the right, seating with a TV which Patricia pointed out had DirectTV. My son couldn't wait to watch his cartoons. Patricia then showed us to the room which included a queen bed and the bathroom. Again, something out of a magazine everything had a purposeful place. The bathroom was very clean and inviting. Every thing that we could have needed was provided, even items I wouldn't have thought of. We were thankful that a washer and dryer was in the bathroom giving us the option to clean some things prior to heading home the next day. Patricia explained that we were welcome to walk the grounds and explore. During our stay we befriended their cat who was sweet and loving. He was my kids favorite part and we are still talking about the sweet orange cat that we met during our stay. We enjoyed the swing on the nearby tree, with the smells of the beginning of fall and taking in the sights of the countryside. We walked to the pond which had two lounging chairs and a firepit. At this point we were wishing we had an extra night to enjoy each part of this place just a little bit more. That evening we each were cozy in our beds. The bedding and mattresses made you feel like you were at a five star hotel only to continue our amazement with the Gambier Loft. If you are going to stay anywhere in the Gambier area, please make it the Gambier loft! You will not be disappointed!

Absolutely lovely, clean and modern

  • 5 of 5

We did a two night stay with Patricia as we had a family wedding in the next town over. After just a few hours we were wishing we had booked longer. The loft was immaculate, very modern and clean, yet had this beautiful rustic farm vibe. The kitchen was stocked with the perfect essentials to help us survive our two days with our little guys (2 and 5). Patricia was so sweet and helpful regarding things to do in the area. She also entertained and loved on our little boys each time they were out and running about. The farm was beautiful and the kids loved exploring the pond and the barns. My kids still ask about Butternut and Cooper, the house cats! On our 10 hour trek home my kids very much enjoyed the apples Patricia let us pick from the beautiful tree sitting right in front of the loft. Don't miss this secret spot if you are anywhere in the area. My husband and I already decided we need to come spend a week WITHOUT our kids!
