This home is located 7 miles northeast of Elizabethton. The house includes three bedrooms, two baths, living room with a gas fire place, fully furnished kitchen, dining room, and den that includes a daybed that sleeps two. There are two flat screen TV's and wifi with Apple TV. There is also a covered deck with table and chairs and a carport for two cars. There is a garage for storing bicycles and other outdoor equipment. This house is located on 38 acres of beautiful pasture land and woods that is a great place to hike and take in the beautiful views of the mountains. The house is conveniently located within twenty minutes of the Applachian Trail. Watauga Lake and River is a short fifteen to twenty minute drive. The South Holston tailwater is considered one of the best trout fishing streams east of the Mississippi is only a twenty-five minute drive. The Bristol International Speedway is only twenty miles away. Local attractions like the Tweetsie Bike Trail, Roan Mountain State Park, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, Asheville, The Virginia Creeper Trail and Abingdon are all within a one-two hour driving distance. For those who love the outdoors and are looking for a quiet place to rest this is the ideal location.

About Owner/Manager

This is the home I grew up in. My parents built this house in 1954-55. While it is an older home it has been well maintained. As a kid we raised beef cattle and grew tobacco and corn. As a kid I would hunt squirrels on this property and camp. It is a very special place to me and my brothers. I now live in Richmond, Kentucky and my brother and sister-in-law live close to this house.

Owner/Manager purchased this farmhouse in 1955

Our stay here was amazing. I had forgotten what quiet was until I sat on the front porch during a long steady rain...what a gift. Staying in the country is a rare pleasure and staying in this country exceeded all expectations.

More than than just a sterile vacation home

I had high expectations for this home based on all the favorable reviews. But those expectations were far exceeded once we arrived there in person. Unlike most vacation homes which have a sterile feel, this property felt like a real home. I was almost as comfortable here as in my own home - and that is saying a lot. One pleasant surprise is unlike how this property is advertised on VRBO, it is NOT 1000 square feet but more like 1700 to 1800 square feet. It was very roomy. We particularly enjoyed the outside covered deck/patio off the den in the back.
