Lake House “Nines”
Affectionately dubbed the “Nines,” this term refers to the two-story wall of 9 windows overlooking the lake. It’s a truly elegant architectural feature that not only allows light to fill every corner of the house, but also provides stunning water views from virtually everywhere inside. Whether you’re standing at the stove cooking, relaxing at the dining room table, sitting on the couch, or reading your favorite book by a roaring fire, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the water.
We grew up vacationing on Middle Pea Porridge Pond and have adopted it as an annual vacation spot with our children – eight years running. We’ve rented numerous houses in Eidelweiss Village, but always found ourselves seeking something more. This house has everything we’ve ever dreamed of: our own private beach, a wide open layout, amazing water views (100 feet of waterfront on a very private cove), central air conditioning, a deck overlooking the water, an outdoor patio & fire pit, an outdoor shower to rinse off sandy feet, a wood-burning fireplace…. Also, this house is one of the newest waterfront houses in Eidelweiss, constructed in 2006. With a built-in dehumidifier system on the lower level, musty basements are a distant memory.
This 2,850 sq. ft. house has 3 levels with 2 bedrooms on the top floor and 2 bedrooms on the lower level. Every bedroom faces the water. This house is ideal for one to two families interested in relaxing in a tranquil environment.
We purchased this house in July 2014 and spent two weeks furnishing it from top to bottom, including: new living room furniture and TV, 5 new beds (queen, 2 full and 2 twin), new high capacity LG washer/dryer, professional Foosball table, tandem kayak and canoe, new hammock overlooking the water, new dining room set, new higher end kitchen utensils including Oxo and J.A Henckels knives, Cuisinart coffee maker & toaster oven, new glasses, plates, silverware and the list goes on and on. We tried to think of everything so that you can just RELAX and enjoy our new home. If anything is missing, let us know and we’ll make every effort to upgrade moving forward to enhance your future experiences. Our goal is your complete satisfaction.
Some of our favorite summer activities in the area include: swimming, canoeing & kayaking in a safe environment (no motor boats are permitted in Eidelweiss) and fishing in the lake. When we leave Eidelweiss, we enjoy visiting Storyland (25 mins), waterslides at Whale’s Tale (1 hour), shopping at the North Conway Outlets (15 mins), swimming off the Kancamagus highway in the river (15 mins), hiking, minigolf at Pirate’s Cove, Lost River (1 Hour) and Santa’s Village (1¼ hours).
In the winter, fun activities include skiing at Attitash (25 mins), Cranmore (15 mins), Bretton Woods (1 hour), Loon (1 hour), Wildcat Mountain (45 minutes), and King Pine (15 mins). King Pine also has ice skating on a groomed rink, snowshoeing and tubing.
We appreciate your interest in our home away from home and would be delighted if you choose this location to build your vacation memories!
We had a great family vacation with 6 adults and 4 children. Plenty of rooms, baths and relaxing areas for all. Just as nice was the clear lake water for swimming and fishing. Not to mention the 3 resident friendly loons who kept us serenaded most days and nights.
Be advised of one item: path leading down to water from house is a little steep and uneven with no handrail. As long as your balance is okay it's not a problem.
This was our second year at The Nines. It really has everything you need for any crowd, and our crowd of 2 parents and 6 "kids" aged 17-23 all had a great time without stepping all over each other due to what the house has to offer. A great addition this year is the swimming raft on the pond. Combined with the warm water and hot temps, it was always populated, and since there are no boats allowed on PPP, you can float out to the middle of the pond on the floats provided. I will also add that the pond's bass population is thriving - take the canoe or kayak out and fish anywhere there are lillypads - I absolutely killed it with 6 bass and one pickerel this year. There are even bass right off the beach at this house (to the right).
Michaela is a great owner who is quick to reply to any questions, and the process for renting with her is seamless. The house is clean and well-cared for, and is well-stocked with pots/pans/Tupperware. If there was one thing I would suggest to add this winter, it would be a king size bed in the master bedroom.
Thanks for having us again - it really is the perfect spot for us.
We were extremely happy with our stay at this lakehouse. Everything was as advertised. The house is spacious and clean with modern utilities. Especially great for big families or families with kids. The private beach area was better than expected and so was the neighboring beach located in the town. The house came with a kayak and canoe. We used the kayak multiple times.
It was such a perfect, peaceful and relaxing vacation, we are definitely going to visit again.
It was not until we paid in full and received our "Welcome" package that we found out sheets and towels are NOT included! We have rented through VRBO and HomeAway for many years and have never had this happen before. On the rare occasion when linens are not included it is clearly stated on the website. If we had known this when made the inquiry we would have looked elsewhere. We spent a lot of time making beds, stripping beds, and doing laundry. A lousy way to start and end a vacation.
The house itself accommodated us well. We were six adults, one almost four year old and a baby. We enjoyed the view, canoe, fire pit, fire place, grill. The kitchen worked well for our gang. The pond is quiet; no motors and we woke to loons every morning. A lovely weekend with family.
My group of 7 had a great time at "The Nines." The weather was great, and thanks to Michaela we were able to make the most of it. The canoe and kayak were incredibly convenient and allowed for day time exploration of the multiple nearby lakes. The fire pit was perfect for hanging out and swapping jokes well into the night (the house came with more than enough fire wood and outdoor seating). We enjoyed the space so much, we were inside only when cooking in the kitchen and sleeping. It's the quintessential lake house.
The inside has a cozy, relaxing, mountain lodge feel to it and came as advertised. Michaela was very helpful in disseminating information so that the trip went smoothly. If we had any questions, she was incredibly responsive by email. We would, without doubt, rent this home again.
