Amazing Place

  • 5 of 5

The apartment really is a gem; gorgeous architecture,

comfortable and spacious rooms and living area.

The photographs don't do it justice. It is

immaculate, tasteful and functional. Probably one

of the best VRBOs I have experienced in my many

years of renting. All necessaries and more are provided.

The location is perfect for exploring all of the best

areas of the City. The owner provides a helpful

and accurate list of good restaurants and activities.

Highly recommend.

Awesome apartment and fabulous location

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in Richard's apartment. The house has everything you need and the location is the best. This apartment also has the most comfortable beds and pillows, and after a long flight, that matters! You will enjoy this fabulous apartment while exploring Lisbon!

Great location and Very nice apartment !

  • 4 of 5

This apartments is very spacious, modern and comfortable. You couldn’t ask for a better location, just walk out the door and walk...anywhere.

The owners have left very good instructions and recommendations for their guests.

It was very clean and has all you need including guide books.

Our only negative comment is that the street noise at night from people in the streets was quite loud, at times felt like the windows are open. We turned on the bedroom AC or the Dyson fan in the second bedroom for white noise and this helped. That said, we would stay again.

Owner's Response: Hello Yanita, I apologise for the loud street noise - usually this is not a problem. My wife and I left the apartment the morning of your arrival and the previous night we also heard loud street noises. We found out that this was the start of University freshman "inductions" which involved a series of events that included large groups chanting/yelling and other activities well into the evening. We experienced this as well when we arrived in Porto. Kind regards, Richard

The apartment is located in an area called Baixa - the historic center of the city. It sits in a valley/plateau that lies between two hills. To the East of the apartment lies St George's Castle (the elevator is 200 meters away) and the historic but very hilly Alfama district (the oldest remaining part of Lisbon and the Moorish center with some great architectural examples). To the West of Baixa lies Chaido and Barrio Alto. Chaido has many international designer shops and Barrio Alto is the area where you will find over 100 bars & restaurants that pretty much runs all night long with a crowded and loud street life but fun to visit in the evening.

In Baixa you have the historic center that is being or has been renovated with many new boutique hotels, lots of outdoor restaurants and the new Design Museum (MUDE). There are also many shops (though not the exclusive designer stores that exist in Chiado). Each of these areas are very small in scale with their own unique character which makes walking around quite easy - though hilly in spots. You can walk from the East end (St George’s Tower) to the West Side (Barrio Alto) in 20-30 mins.

Santa Justa Elevator:

One of the city's best-loved landmarks and also known as the 'Elevator of Carmo,' this extraordinary structure was built at the turn of the century by the Portugal-born French architect Raoul de Mesnier du Ponsard (an apprentice of Gustave Eiffel, explaining the structure's similarities to Paris' Eiffel Tower), to connect downtown to Bairro Alto (the lowest and highest points of the city).
