Northwestern WI. Located on Lake Minnesuing about 4 miles from town of Lake Nebagamon, Wisc. This three bedroom cottage is a Wisconsin cabin classic. Located on a 500 acre lake 30 miles south from Superior and 25 miles north of Hayward in Northwestern Wisconsin. Its in Douglas County 130 miles straight north of Eau Claire, Wisconsin with County Highway access to cabin from four-lane State Hwy 53.
Lake Minnesuing is a 500 Acre clean deep lake fed by the springs of the Bois Brule State Forest. The lake has 6 miles of shoreline, 2 miles of which is unimproved Brule State Forest. The lake has a 31 acre island, public access, Sidelines Bar Bait and Grill, the famous Minnesuing Acres resort along its sloping pine-filled lakeshore.
This cottage sleeps 6 in the main building. There are three bedrooms. Interior is trimmed in fir, cedar, and pine beams so you know you're 'up north'. A cedar paneled boat house that sleeps 4 - 6 children/teens on 2 bunk beds and 2 single cots is also available for an additional fee (see Rate Notes).
There are three eating areas - one next to kitchen, a second on large deck overlooking lake, and the third in a large screen porch (doubles as board-game room after dinner). Overhead fans and Andersen windows for ventilation during the day with two natural gas Jotul Finnish fireplaces to keep it warm and cozy on cool evenings.
The Boathouse has extra sleeping for 4 -6 children/teens and is situated just a few feet off the lake. It has old cabin charm with new Herbster Wisc. wide plank cedar flooring, open beam ceiling with fan. Boathouse was built in the 50's and remodeled in 2005. The cottage and boathouse are surrounded by Norway and White pines - some 100+ feet high. No plumbing in boathouse. Bring your own sleeping bags!
The cottage is located on shores of Lake Minnesuing. Its a traditional northern Wisconsin lake with tall pines, eagles, an island, many old fashioned cabins and the famous Minnesuing Acres resort. There is good swimming with a hard bottom and gradual change in depth on one side of the 40 foot dock. Other side of dock has structure for bass, crappie, and bluegill fishing. Next to the Boathouse is a large outdoor rock fire ring for campfires on the lakeshore. Southern end of the lake is the Brule State Forest - good bass fishing along the forest's 2 mile unimproved lakeshore frontage. If you have your own boat it can be put in at nearby no-fee access launch located on S. Halberg Rd.
Nearby are three golf courses (Norwood is 1/2 mile away), a bar bait and grill restaurant on the north end of the lake (Sidelines), and the famous Bois Brule River is just 3 miles to the East for access to trout fishing and canoeing.
This cottage is just 4 miles west of town of Lake Nebagamon. The town has a grocery store with gas pumps, a bank, two typical Wisconsin bar & grilles, a restaurant, Post Office, car wash, churches ,laundromat, and one of the oldest Dairy Queens in the country.
Access to Outdoor Adventure:
The cities of Duluth & Superior are only 30 miles from the cottage. Lake Superior is 17 miles to the north and there are State Parks nearby. This area is not only the headwaters of the St. Croix River but not far from the Apostle Islands, Bayfield, the Northshore and some of the country's best backcountry bicycle trails in the 1.5 million acre Chequamegon National Forest.
This cottage is very well maintained and comfortable. It has all necessary utensils, cookware, dishes, supplies, etc to prepare meals, gas grill, comfortable beds with linens, table seating for 8+, and bathroom with towels and soft water tub/shower. Its a place to make vacationing an easy fun experience when gathering for family dinners or having a late afternoon beverage as the sun filters onto the deck thru pine boughs.

You're sure to create memories enjoying new cottage facilities, big pine ambiance and area amenities. Its a perfect place for family, a couple, or friends to get together to live, laugh and enjoy the wonderful Wisconsin outdoors.
We are a family of 4 living in Hudson WI. We have enjoyed many years of enjoyment at our Lake Minnesuing cottage sharing outdoor experiences with family and friends! Our available time spent here has become less and less due to kid's summer jobs, sports, and other commitments. We decided on VRBO as a way to keep the cottage in use and provide an opportunity for others to experience the lovely northern Wisconsin wilderness!
Greg Gerard and Jackie Gerard purchased this cottage in 2001
Its an ideal location for access to a beautiful, clear lake, as well as, the Bois Brule River, and northern MN and WI (Duluth, Northshore, Superior, Bayfield, Apostle Islands, etc) and does not have the tourist congestion of some other vacation areas.
The cabin was fantastic. The grounds, deck and gardens were wonderfully maintained and the home was a wonderful mix of "up north" decor and immaculate care. The kayaks, canoes, water toys and especially the trampoline were a huge hit with our little boys. The boys and dad spent all their daytime down on the dock and out on the trampoline when they weren't roasting marshmallows and hot dogs or playing with all the great games provided. As one of our boys said by the time we'd gotten down to the dock, "this must be a place for millionaires!!" It was clear how much the Gerards' cared for their paradise on the lake and their guests. We had a wonderful time and would love to come again.
We loved our week at this vacation cottage! The cottage is very clean, fully equipped, has plenty of room and the grounds and landscaping are beautiful. We rented the bunkhouse also which 2 adults chose to stay in and loved. Outhouse clean and handy! The beach was perfect for our young grandchildren and the fun RAV raft provided hours of fun! Great location and golfed 3 of the nearby golf courses. Owners were very helpful and our family hopes to stay here again!
Family very much enjoyed the cabin and amenities. The boat house with bunk beds was quite the treat for the young boys to stay in. Good family time getaway.
We recently had a girls getaway and had absolutely the BEST time! We wanted somewhere we we could float and relax in the water and this was perfect. The lake is clear and the shoreline at the cabin was pristine. The cabin was clean and very comfortable. We met many fun people around town and had an absolute blast. We loved that there was a restaurant/bar within walking distance to the cabin but we were still "out in the woods". There were 6 of us in our group and the layout of the cabin worked great for us. Our only surprise with the rental was not being able to use the washer/dryer. Families, take note...there is no TV so rainy days could be a challenge with the kiddos. But we loved no TV. The stereo system throughout the house was great. I highly recommend!
This place was great on so many levels! We canoed, kayaked, cooked out and even had campfire night. But it also has enough living space inside to enjoy a card game or two on our rainy day. It's close enough to Duluth to stop in for a day along Lake Superior yet plenty to do if you want to stay in.
