Excellent stay at this lovely little apartment in the San Polo district. It was far enough away from the crowds so I could get a good night's sleep, but, close enough to easily get to the heart of the city and see all the main sites. Came as advertised nothing broken or exaggerated. Isotta was kind and gave me a general verbal orientation of the city when I arrived with a map of the close by sites and stores to buy food at. I honestly cannot think of any cons or unreasonable things to say about this apartment.
This was my first visit to Europe and a great way to start my travel through Italy. If I ever come back to Venice I hope I can stay at this location again. Only precaution in general is, make sure you have a map on you or your phone gets some type of map service. Long story short, things look different at night coming back home!
Le quartier de San Polo est vraiment génial. L'appartement est donc bien situé.
On y trouve l'essentiel dans l'appartement.
Je recommande vivement ce lieu.
Daniela, la propriétaire, est très gentille et discrète.
My husband and I stayed in this apartment for 3 nights in October. The owner was prompt and friendly with any questions during the booking process. She was also very friendly when showing us to the apartment. This apartment is quite small, but efficient. We did not cook while there, but the stove did work to heat water for coffee and tea. The washing machine worked fine, but like many rentals in Europe, there’s no dryer, which we knew ahead of time. The bathroom is very tiny but has all the necessary parts. I thought the apartment was clean, but with a bit of dampness, which I suppose is probably normal for Venice. The little terrace was nice and peaceful to sit on. For 3 nights, this was a good place to stay. For a longer visit, I may have preferred something more spacious. However, in Venice, many places are very expensive, so this was a good value, and we were mostly out exploring the city during our stay. We did really love the location, as it was very quiet, and the area around seemed much less touristy. Really, it almost seemed like a different city than the bustle around St. Marks. I can’t say it was easy to find initially, but I think anything in Venice can be difficult to find, especially with jet lag.
I know this doesn’t seem like a glowing review, but I’m giving the apartment full stars based on value, location, and accuracy of description.
We stayed for 3 nights in this apartment. It was not as described. First, we were informed upon arrival that the washing machine was broken. If we had been informed of this earlier (the owner had many chances to let us know) we would have taken care of laundry before our arrival in Venice, so we didn't have to waste our little time in Venice doing laundry by hand. She said it had only just broken the previous day, but no apology was forthcoming and no attempt was made to get it fixed during our stay.
We also found there was no air conditioning. There was a portable AC Unit, but it had no effect on the temperature of the room. It was very poorly set up, with the exhaust pipe sticking out a tilted open window with towels around it to try to direct the exhaust heat out, but it was basically dumping the heat right back into the room. We woke up to a room that was 31 degrees - hotter than outside - the AC was actually working as a heater. Yes, we arrived during a heat spell, but if the AC had been at all properly set up, it would have provided some measure of relief instead of making things worse. To the owner's credit, when we let her know, she did leave us a small portable fan.
We also found many crickets all over the apartment, as well as centipede, but that might just be typical of these sorts of flats - especially with needing to keep a window open for the "AC".
Finally, be aware that the apartment is not private. (Or at least not to our standards). The sheers on the window that look out onto the patio were completely see through, as is the lattice that separates the two apartments patios, so if anyone is in the neighboring apartment's patio, they would see you very easily.
There are window coverings, but they are nowhere near the size of the windows. It also didn't help with keeping the flat cooler.
On the plus side, the apartment was very clean, and the location was very centrally located - very close to the Tronchetto where we arrived from, and also close to the Rialto bridge and the Vaporetto's. It is also very close to the owner's home where you meet her.
Just 5/10 minutes by foot to Santa Lucia railway station and Piazzale Roma (terminal air bus ATVO)
5/10 minutes by foot to nearest boat stop San Tomà and Rialto bridge.www.atvo.it
