Originally four farms nestling in the pretty Breton hamlet of Le Faouet, these gites have been lovingly converted by the current owners to offer spacious holiday accommodation for large or small groups. The renovations are of a particularly high standard affording modern well equipped interiors whilst retaining the original old world charm.
Mallard gite is in'two halves'. The first half has two bedrooms upstairs (twin and double). The other half has a double bedroom downstairs and a very large room upstairs which can easily take three single beds.
The layout of Mallard Gite with both a bedroom and bathroom downstairs (with bath) offer perfect accommodation for guests with impaired mobility. It is also possible to hire "bathing aids" locally.
There is a small charge for linen and towels. The gite has two bathroom with shower.
There is a fully fitted kitchen, lounge and dining area. The wood burning stove makes it ideal for all your round holidays.
The gite has a garden area and gas barbecue.
At the rear is the recreational area with an above ground pool, 8m x 4m , depth 1.2m, swings, sandpit, Wendy house and boules court.
If you prefer to completely 'chill out' you can retire to the quiet of the garden, or relax in a hammock slung between the apple trees, sit by the lake, or try your hand at fishing.
The Fox's Lair' is a recreational room and “honesty” bar with plenty of seating for. There are lots of board games as well as table tennis, English TV, pool table and WiFi access. Perfect for meeting with friends old and new!
For the more energetic mountain bikes are available.
The accommodation and facilities at Le Faouet are ideal for large groups. The layout lends itself to family get togethers or even business conferences! It is possible to make block bookings for any time of the year, and we will help you organise what you need.
Small groups or couples are very welcome with plenty of choice of accommodation.
Dogs may be allowed. Please check with the owner at time of booking. cleaning fee will apply.

The Brittany Region
Brittany is located in the north-western corner of France. The region enjoys a warm, temperate climate, with plenty of rain to keep it looking lush and green. However, it does also experience many fine, cloudless, sunny days, and the weather is said to be similar to that found in Cornwall.
Brittany has its fair share of well-known towns and cities, but it’s also home to many places not discovered by the average tourist.
Breton Pardons
A Breton pardon is usually attached to a village chapel or a church in Brittany. Each chapel is under the protection of a saint who mostly came from Ireland or Britain in the fifth century A.D.
The statue of the saint is taken out of the chapel every year and shown to the public.
The people of the village pay the saint a tribute every year and mix happily religion with traditional dancing and games. A big meal is served at the end of the day too. In fact this “pardon” is a large get-together where you can meet elderly people as well as the younger generations. What a great excuse to be all together!
Breton Cuisine
As with most regions in France, Brittany has its own culinary delights. Fish and seafood are fresh and plentiful. Among other specialities on offer are Galettes - large, thin buckwheat pancakes stuffed with a variety of savoury fillings. It’s very common to find a cold Galette wrapped around a hot Breton sausage made from pure pork, as they are sold everywhere as Brittany’s answer to fast-food. Whilst they should be consumed with a drink of Breton buttermilk, they are also widely accompanied by cider, which is produced locally. Finally, a visit to Brittany would not be complete without sampling some of their local beers, which bear testament to their long and successful history of brewing
Department of Cotes d'Amor
Le Faouet gites are in the Department of Cotes d’Amor in the beautiful region of Brittany in northern France. This department occupies a substantial part of the northern coast of Brittany, from beyond Lannion in the east and almost to Dinard to the west, and also the countryside to the south of this coast.
While it is to enjoy the impressive sandy beaches, cliffs and coastal scenery that most visitors come to this region, be sure to also take the time to explore some of the towns and villages a little way inland!
Le Faouet gites are situated approximately1 hour by car from the coastal villages of Paimpol, Perros Guirec, Pleubian and Locquirec. Walking the coastal path is very popular.
Paimpol is host to the annual music festival “Chant de Marin et des Musiques”.
The Local Area
Belle-Isle-en-Terre, Belle Isle meaning "beautiful island" and en Terre signifying "on the ground" is a charming town situated approximately 10 miles from the gites.
There are several restaurants in the town.
The nearest village is La Chapelle Neuve which has a small bar and shop and is about 2km away from the gites.
In the Léguer valley, in the Belle-Isle-en-Terre area, dirt tracks cut through the moorland, criss-cross the forests, run along the rivers and climb the mountains. In this well-preserved nature reserve, with its rich cultural heritage, 200km of trails are just waiting for avid mountain-biking fans.
