About Carol

My husband and I have been married thirty years, we have three boys and love our home away from home here in Boyne Country!

Carol purchased this cottage in 2008

Why Carol chose Northern Michigan

We rented in this area and on Deer Lake for many years before purchasing this property. We first fell in love with the cabin that was renovated by a wood artisan, lending to his love of wood and log and artistic use of the materials. We loved the area, its proximity to year round entertainment and activities, we loved the property on a quiet, all sports lake. This is our little piece of paradise. And we want to share it with others who appreciate the northern michigan country and all it has to offer throughout the 4 seasons of the year.

What makes this cottage unique

Location, location, location. It doesn't get any better than this!!

In Boyne City every Friday is an event called Stroll the Streets with live music from every block, craft vendors and fun as the sun sinks into Lake Charlevoix.

Farmers Market moves outdoors to Veterans Park, Wednesday & Saturday, May thru October, 8 a.m. to noon

Great Any Time of Year!

  • 5 of 5

While we've stayed here several times before during the winter months to ski at Boyne, this was our first time staying in the summer. I never realized it before, but the cabin is right on Deer Lake with a darling path with bridge that leads down to their private dock. We loved going for a rowboat ride every morning. When we wanted a sandy beach, we went across the lake to Boyne's beach. We took day trips to Petosky and Harbor Springs, both within a quick drive. I really love this cabin's quaintness and location. We are definitely coming back!

The best cabin in the woods....

  • 5 of 5

At Camp Vieder we were welcomed with a beautiful basket of snacks and drink. Such a thoughtful touch! I found this cabin stocked full of treats from loads of towels to K-cups and even a pitcher of cold water in the frig. There were also ample supplies of toiletries for our use as well as enough towels for our stay. That was on the inside....on the outside the cabin is on a beautiful property with a stunning lake view. Certainly a slice of heaven for all who choose to stay.

Cute Cabin on Deer Lake !

  • 5 of 5

Loved this little cabin! The owners were so nice and gracious. Everything was clean and the pics you see are current. We had never stayed in Boyne City but what a great location if you want to go to Harbor Springs, Charlevoix and Petoskey! Mackinaw Island is just an hours drive away. The owners had a nice goodie basket of treats waiting for you and a bottle of wine! We would absolutely stay again. Thanks Carol and Sandy !!

Great Cozy log cabin ~ Has everything you need!

  • 5 of 5

Great week at this cozy cabin for our family of 5! It is in a great location, just minutes from Boyne properties and also Boyne City! Very clean with all of the amenities needed. The weather was great and temp was in the high 80's. The cabin was very comfortable with the air on. The kids appreciated the welcome gifts of snacks available! Thank you for a great week and wonderful memories at your up north home!

Awesome cozy log cabin lakefront hideaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 5 days. It was quite hot weather while we were there, but the cabin remained cool with great ventilation from the large overhead fan and available air conditioning. Clean, clean, clean! You can tell this cabin is well cared for by the owners. Full kitchen, towels and even a nice welcome basket waiting for us with local goodies, including coffee and a nice bottle of regional wine. A very nice touch - you can tell the owners care! The description on the website is 100% accurate.

The grounds are amazing. Short walk to the lakefront with a dock and sitting area. We brought our 20 ft. Ski boat and were able to make use of the boat lift provided by the owners (reasonable extra charge). Deer Lake was perfect for tubing, skiing and even a little fishing. The kids loved the crystal clear lake water which was quite warm due to the relatively shallow depths of Deer Lake. Really nice beach front with tiki bar and Restaraunt on the other side of the lake from the dock which is open for use and operated by Boyne resort. There's no marina on the lake so make sure to fuel up your boat before dropping to avoid dealing with transporting gas cans to the dock. Boyne City has a lot happening and is clearly growing. Charlevoix and Petoskey are about a 15 minute drive and well worth the effort to go to as well. Overall, there's tons to do in the region and this cabin is perfectly situated centrally to provide fairly quick access to all that's going on in the region. The weather was great and since we had our boat on the water we did not get to use the indoor waterpark at Boyne Mountain, but if weather becomes an issue while staying here that's another nice thing to do with kids if the weather doesn't cooperate.

Just outside the cabin there is a beautiful fire pit for evening campfires. There's also a very nice picnic table on the back deck for those times that you want to eat outdoors.

The kids (and us) enjoyed all the movie channels available on the cable TV and there's a nice sized LCD TV and I mean room to occupy the kids during some down time. Wi-Fi also works very well.

The owners have a home on the same property and happened to be there for two days overlap during our stay. They were extremely friendly and helpful. Very welcoming! Even gave us some marshmallows to use one evening when we ran out.

Overall, my wife, kids and I give this a five star rating and look forward to having an opportunity to coming back again in the future!

Nice place for a weekend ski trip!

  • 4 of 5

My friends and I had a wonderful time staying at this cute cottage. It was very close and convenient to get to Boyne for a day of skiing. There were 7 adults, and while we all fit, it was a bit cozy. The property was a very short walk down to the lake, and while it was beautiful in the winter, I imagine it is all the more lovely during the summer. The house was very clean, and Sandy and Carol left us a welcome basket to help us feel right at home - what a kind touch! The one downside we found was that the bedrooms and the loft are not fully separated from each other. The ceilings of all the rooms are open, so one person in your group is a loud snorer, then all of you will be able to hear it. All in all though it was a great place to stay.

Owner's Response: Hi Sarah, Thanks so much for your honest and constructive review! We are thrilled you loved the cabin, the area and the great things it had to offer. Next time I should include earplugs and breath rite tips in my welcome basket for those groups that come with snorers and loud breathers 😂😴 All kidding aside, we've had plans to finish those ceilings between the two rooms to the loft, but we've also struggled with the idea of changing the beautiful artistry of the artisan that finished the interior of the cabin which makes it so unique and beautiful, and cozy! We look forward to a return visit in the summer months or for fall color. Thanks Carol and Sandy
