Our favorite place in California

  • 5 of 5

We love the ranch! This was our second time at the cabin and plan to make it an annual trip. My 5 year old son loves the goats, especially Little Goat. Even my pug smiles and enjoys being out there. It is secluded and peaceful for adults but also fun for kids. I like that there's a full kitchen. Don't expect a luxury suite; it is rustic but comfortable. Marianne is warm and welcoming and gives helpful tips.

You can find good restaurants in Sonora. Columbia, an old mining town, is also close. There are fun things for kids there and a tea house for the grown-ups (they allow dogs). There are several lakes within an hour. We go to Pinecrest. You can rent boats and fish there. They also have a beach. If you're looking for a memorable vacation with your kids, this is the place. Thank you, Marianne, for opening your ranch to guests. It is a special place. My son and I created many wonderful memories.

Wonderful place to unplug

  • 4 of 5

If you're not looking for friendly owner, dog, goats and horses this place isn't for you.

Oh yeah did I mention peace and quiet without light pollution for beautiful star lit sky and a back to basics rustic cabin.

I live in the busy city and work at could arguably be the busiest place in the country right now, so away from it all is exactly what I wanted, and needed.

This will probably make my 5 star next time we visit (my wife insists we go back) as I only stayed at the cabin and didn't take advantage of the beautiful I49 drive that we used to enjoy so much when we lived in northern Nevada

Visiting the small mining towns north of Columbia all the way up I49 to Sutters Mill is in our to do list next time around.

Thanks again Marianne

Classic ranch cabin in rolling hills

  • 4 of 5

If simplicity and peace is what you're looking for, this little cabin on the ranch has it. No frills, just the basics (and no distractions) in a rustic cabin about 10 minutes from Sonora, CA. We based out this cabin for day trips into the Sierra mountains. Our son loved meeting the farm animals. Wish we could have had more time to chat with our friendly host, Michelle, and enjoy the sounds of the ranch.

Beautiful, Rustic and Charming

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Marianne's place for 2 nights and fell in love. First, she was very helpful when we had questions for us and we felt very comfortable on her property. She was kind enough to even let us stay even though she had a big sale going on that weekend. The cabin is super cute and both beds are very comfortable. Bathroom was impeccably clean and with great soaps and towels. There is a long gravel road to get back to the cabin, but as long as you drive slow, its not a problem and not very long. The outdoor space has a table and chairs and its gorgeous to sit out there and watch the stars at night. The location couldn't be more perfect....close to Columbia and Murphy's as well as Angel's Camp. We will definitely stay here again!

  • 5 of 5

Great place to getaway and enjoy true peacefulness! I had a fantastic relaxing and quiet 2 days there. Perfectly furnished in true rustic decor, this cabin will provide all the comfort you need. The animals are all friendly and Marianne made a great hostess! The outdoors views and great starlit sky at night make this a very calm and peaceful place! Definitely will return soon!

Thank you!
