This 2-bedroom apartment is located at 1st floor of a 5-unit building in Lower East Side of Manhattan. There are two bedrooms, each room is equipped with a double and a single bed, good for 3 persons to sleep. A wall-mounted air-conditioner is available in each bedrood, with cooling and heating dual functions. This make it a comfortable home for travellers in any seasons when visiting New York city.
Living room and kitchen are connected, but there is also a wall-mounted air-conditioner in the living room, making it a big enjoyment when doing cooking.
One bathroom inside this 2-bedroom unit. Wifi is available, all bedding items and cooking wares are provided.
Extremely convenient location, within 2 blocks away from subway station, reaching Time Square in less than 15 minutes.
This is a basement apartment with just the absolute bare minimum provided for your stay. If you're looking for a bed in Manhattan and not much else, this is the place. The people who manage it seem pretty nice.
This is a good place to stay. Not 5 star but gets the job done. I would stay here again.
Don't build on cooking in the apartment. Tiny NY kitchen. We stayed with our children and grandchildren. A place to sleep and eat breakfast. Plenty of stores for everything close by. We used a laundromat close by.
The apartment was roomy enough for our group to sleep. There are only 2 chairs to sit on at the table. The couch was fine. One chair was broken.
We were told not to flush the toilet paper, but rather to put it in the trash can. That is very unsanitary. We are not in a third world country and our sewer systems and plumbing, if up to code, can handle this. This was disgusting. If we are paying to rent a place, it should be up to codes and safe and clean.
The superintendent of the building came into our unit every day to take out the trash. That was unacceptable. I texted Kathy about it and her response was "it's Ok, it's a free service". No, it wasn't OK. We could take the trash out ourselves - the can was right outside the door and we had rented the place, no one should have been in there unless there was a problem. The same guy lingered outside the door often and that made us uneasy. Since he had been in our unit several times, we wondered if he had just come out again or was about to. He also turned off the air conditioning while we were gone. Not acceptable again - we were paying for this place to rent for four days and wanted it the temperature that was pleasant for us.
There are no top sheets on the beds. This was kind of gross for us because I have always heard people do not wash the comforters/blankets between renters. The beds were comfortable and I like the idea of the 4 beds for 6 people. We fit fine.
We never used the kitchen. It is very small and furnishings were sparse. The towels were nasty - stained and didn't look fresh. The kitchen sink and bathroom sink both had a old bar of soap on a piece of paper. Both were incredibly nasty - very unsanitary; fortunately we had our own. There were only 4 bath towels.
We rented from Moon, texted with Kathy and Chen was the guy who we saw. He barely speaks English so we couldn't understand most of what he said. Kathy answered our texts quickly but we never met her or Moon.
There is a series of 4 doors/4 keys to get to the unit as it is behind a Chinese restaurant. We still have not decided if we felt completely safe so I guess that means we didn't. I would not recommend this to young people on their own or females only. We had 3 men with us, which always makes me feel safer.
We would never stay here again or recommend it to anyone. I'll give it a 1 out of 5 just because the beds were comfortable and enough for our group. Extremely unsatisfied for the money we paid!
Reasonably priced, Manhattan ground floor apartment, at the back of the building and in the centre of Chinatown. Basic accommodation but quiet, secure and the air con works. Bedrooms more spacious than they look in photos but bedroom window is a skylight with no blind. Subway is close by as well as numerous convenience stores and restaurants/bars. There is a supermarket, drug store and ATM within a block. Kitchen equipment sparse and to get four people sat at the table you needed to utilise the sofa. Kathy kindly arranged airport transfers for us which took the hassle out of travelling with suitcases.
This apartment has two big real bedrooms, no fake bedrooms separated by curtains or clear doors. It's also in a central location 2 blocks from the subway. Finding that in an affordable place in Manhattan that isn't a scam is hard to do so we were very happy with the place. That said, there are also downsides. I don't think it's professionally cleaned after each stay, or maybe ever. Obvious spots like the toilet and sink bowls were fine, but detail spots like the faucet handles and bathroom mirror were very dirty. There were no top sheets on the beds which left me hoping they wash the duvets, and the kitchen was very lightly stocked (3 spoons meant we never had breakfast together). All taken together I felt that we got what we paid for and what we expected, for a 3 day stay on a budget we were happy to find any place with bedrooms and a kitchen and we would stay here again.
