Comfortable, in the hills away from the highway. A great place to relax & enjoy Hawaiian nature.

Quick response from the owner about a brief problem.

I would stay here again.

Very private and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I really liked the place! The house was very clean and well equipped, and is so private located in such a peaceful area. We felt at ease coming back to the house exhausted after each long day driving and exploring the "Big" island. Especially the spacious hot tub was greatly appreciated. We enjoyed gazing at the stars in the back yard at night and waking up with the birds singing in the morinig. The place is so beautiful! The road to the house off the highway has many big ups and downs (like a roller coaster!), which appalled city people like us at first, but it was kind of fun. Thanks to the perfect house, we could fully enjoy the island. We would love to be back one day.

A very nice place!

  • 4 of 5

This is a fairly new property in which the owner has invested a lot of work. It was clean and comfortable. Our one complaint (which may be our own fault for not checking better) was that it was a considerable distance from Hilo. We apparently missed this information when we booked. So if you are looking for something in and around Hilo, I would suggest not taking this property. We had the time to spend and only one activity planned that depended on us being there at a certain time. But we did drive to and fro a lot!

Owner's Response: I am glad you liked the house and the accommodations and found yourself with a great property for your vacation. I have described in the description of the property that this house is not in Hilo. It is located 1/2 between Volcano National Park and Hilo. Many people who have rented the house have also reviewed that the house is located in an area that is private yet accessible by car to many areas of the Island and are satisfied with that. This is preferable to many visitors, I keep my rates way below that which you could get elsewhere for this quality of a property. I am only sorry that you did not read the reviews and the description of the property. I am thankful you still reviewed me with 4 stars because the house and property is well kept. However, I feel saddened I did not get the 5 star as I always strive for 5 stars.

Beautiful and quiet property

  • 5 of 5

This house is new. Everything was clean and very welcoming. House had everything you needed. Pictures were the same as the house. Mornings were beautiful, sunny and birds were singing. We stayed at this property almost a month. During our stay we had rain through the nights and that was ok with us. Patricia made us feel very welcome, she left goodies for us. You need a car to get places, it takes around 20 minutes to get to shopping centers. If you wnat to try local best fresh fruit and vegetables, you have to visit farmers market in Hilo, but next to Foodland, way closer to the house, we shop there and it's open every day. Better quality food and prices are the same. When buying a fresh fish, must go to Suisan Fish Market in Hilo. For us the best beach was Carl Smith Beach Park. This is the only beach where is some sand. Water is colder, but snorkeling is nice there. You can see turtles there almost every day. We did and it was amazing experience. They get really close to you there. This beach is not very deep, so kids will enjoy it too. It gets crowded on the weekends, get there sooner. Life guard is there. Hilo has the best bakery - Papa'a paloa bakery (closed sunday). If you want to see lava, you don't have to pay money to companies, you can drive to Kalapana and rent bikes from KAIMU RENTALS for $20 each (you can also just walk). This is one of the best experiences we did.

We loved this house, mahalo for sharing it with us.

Owner's Response: I am so happy you had such a wonderful vacation. It is very important to me that my guests have fun and are comfortable. I try very hard to offer a great house for an affordable place and when guests give me a 5 star rating it makes all the work worthwhile. Thank you for renting my place.

Although the sights are to numerous to mention. A few of the sights I find interesting are: * Volcano National Park, located in Volcano. *Ahalanui Hot Pond; a natural hot water pond for swimming which is a naturally heated pond and is heated from the volcano's heat, this pond sits at the oceans edge. *The black sand beaches which are located in Punaluu and Hilo. *The numerous waterfalls and tropical gardens are located in Keaau and just outside of Hilo. The Big Island of Hawaii has lots to offer so please come and explore.
