Although the property is within walking distance of the Village and just a couple of miles from the National Park, Volcano Villa sits on a full acre and is wonderfully private. Under new ownership (formerly known as 'The Deck House' of My Island B & B). Floors and many of the furnishings have been updated. High open-beam ceilings and large windows in the living room and kitchen give a spacious feel while allowing inviting views of the outdoors. Cuddle up in front of woodburning stove on leather sofa and loveseat.
Flatscreen TV, DVD player, CD player/radio, and WiFi. Dining room table seating for six. Lanai table, also seats 6, for covered outdoor dining surrounded by forest colors and sounds. Master bedroom features King-size bed and own bathroom with shower/tub. At night, King and Queen beds have view from pillow to stars through large picture-windows. 3rd bedroom has 2 XLong twin beds and window seat book nook. All bedrooms have brand new space heaters and beds have electric 'bedwarmers' for the cool Volcano nights.
Second bathroom adjacent to queen room, also has combination shower/tub. BBQ for outdoor grilling. Full size washer & dryer. Landscaped yard has large open lawn area in front of house ideal for kids to run around and play. It's big enough for a game of soccer. The back & sides of the house are surrounded by rain forest (there are no other houses close by) A trail winds through cymbidium, anthuriums, hapu`u and ohia forest behind the house. Front and side yard landscaped with hydrangeas, agapanthus, day-lily, azalea, rhododendron, camellia, magnolia, giant bird of paradise, & more varieties of anthurium
Sitting on the large front porch, lanai off the dining/living area, or deck off the master bedroom, sip your morning coffee or afternoon tea in comfort while listening to the sounds of birds. Enjoy the refreshing mountain air, greenery and brightly colored flowers that surround you. Many large windows bring the outdoors to you while in the kitchen, living or bedrooms. The front door frames a wonderfully unique stained-glass volcano scene.
Dear Patricia, Good morning, Yes indeed, we had very good time in Volcano, and very good staying in your house. Everything is fantastic! We even had a BBQ night there!!! All family was happy!!! Only one little detail. The curtains should be better. Too much light coming in. Gary was very helpful and a great person! Kind regards, Zong
Thank you for feedback. The curtains are next on our list of continuing upgrades. Aloha
Nice house, beautiful grounds, close to park. Cool nights, but warm beds.
We didn't want to leave. The yard is like a tropical botanical garden for those of us from Minnesota and USDA gardening zone 4! Couldn't image no central heat nor window screens required. House is clean and well-kept with super-comfortable beds and nice bathrooms (and keeping mildew away must be a challenge when it mists nearly daily). Even sharp knives and big cutting boards in the kitchen. Only things we lacked were salt and pen and paper. Made good use of Volcano Farmers Market on Sunday morning. Friendly people and lots of good fresh food at extremely reasonable prices. Easy walking distance. A few of same vendors from Hilo but mostly locals. Unfortunately, TukTuk food truck was on vacation; if you visit the Thai restaurant, stick with flavorful curries and pad Thai, not remarkable. We just scratched the surface of the national park, would like to return and explore more. Went up 20 degrees in temp as we descended to hike, very pleasant to return to cool, lush Volcano.
Nice house and roomy enough for four of us. Perfect location about a mile from Volcano National Park and lovely property that we unfortunately were not able to enjoy due to rain.
Suggest more lighting in the living room and bedrooms as it was difficult to find enough light for reading. Also, guests should be aware that it can be quite cold in the area and there is no central heating, just space heaters.
Volcano Villa was clean, quiet, the kitchen well stocked, beds comfortable, and the garden was beautiful. The location was great: right in the town and very close to the entrance to Volcanoes National Park. It gets pretty chilly at night but the Franklin stove keeps the place warm.
So happy we rented this house. It was just as described, clean and very well supplied The setting is gorgeous rainforest that provides complete privacy With the rain and the cold evenings, we appreciated the car port, bed warmers and electric heaters. There was wood for the stove, but we did not need it. The location was great. It was only a few minutes to the Volcano National Park entrance and only 30 minutes to Hilo
Would suggest the Jagger Museum and overlook, where we saw molten lava spattering in the Kilauae cauldron. Also the chain of craters road, drinks at Volcano House and the Akatsuka orchid gardens. If you have dinner at the Volcano House, reserve a window table with a volcano view. In the Hilo area stop by the Mauna Loa Macadamia nut visiting center, visit the beautiful Hawaii Botanical Gardens then have lunch outdoors at nearby What's Shaking(27-999 Mamalahoa highway) The KTA at junction of 11 and 2000 is a must for groceries before heading up the mountain. Basics(salt, sugar, spices, olive oil, coffee and filters) are already in the kitchen.
Dealing with Jeff and Cathy was a pleasure. All correspondence was clear and timely. They answered questions and returned the deposit promptly. We would like to return here and stay longer.
The property was beautiful. It was very clean and inviting. The size was wonderful. Having 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms made it more relaxing and comfortable for everyone. We were traveling with a 2 year old,and he could even go to bed without everyone else having to whisper. The property was well equipped with everything necessary, from spices to linens to heaters. It has been very nicely decorated. The grounds are gorgeous!!
You did a great job Cathy and Dale. I hope we can come back!! This would be my "home away from home" in Volcano City.
Just off Highway 11 in Volcano Village. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is just minutes away with drive-up volcano viewing and Jagger Museum; easy walk through impressive Thurston Lava tube or to the Steaming Bluffs; all levels of hiking through rainforest or lava desert. 'Must see' glow of Halemaumau crater at night! Visit Volcano Art Gallery. Volcano Winery nearby. Take day-trips down to old historic Hilo town, Rainbow Falls , Akaka Falls and Botanical gardens. Orchid growers nearby.
